if you tune by ear, use flageolettes, it's far more precise since for beginners they are much clearer.
Sure, if you have a tuning fork that's A or D that's fine. But, it's smarter to tune from the G down because you can more accurately Tune the G by ear than low E. It's not that big of a deal, but I find it annoying that everyone starts on the E string.

hey it was useful, I used this video to tune my bass... his E was on tune mine wasn't =)
@@animallover7784 Funny enough, I was about 15 back then… there weren't many options to get your bass in tune without a tuner back in 2006. Browsers were not as modern and many of those tuner sites wouldn't work for all of us, specially if we had shitty computers. This helped me get my E string in key, apparently!

In fact, people usualy start from the A or D string because that is what tuning forks are usually made to sound as.

Well... you didn't mention which frets you were using, I couldn't see 'cause our hand was in the way...you din't play the notes...and you mention amazing things like "you have a d-string on your a-string there's a g-string on the d-string. It's amazing..quantum laws just fail to exist on your bass!
WRONG!!! When tuning by ear you ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS start with the G and move backwards.
