Yeah testing everything against the Bible is the best. Here is another tip I used for myself. Because sometimes you can not spare the time enough to search it against the Bible, this is another easy way: deny yourself before God and ignore all your carnal desires in favor of love of God. Then you can quickly decide if it is from God or not. And then later taking time, you can double check it against the Bible.

I cant see God not audibly speaking anymore. God spoke to Saul who became Apostle paul and spoke to the disciples audibly in red letters in the bible. I'm not here to argue but I just don't believe that God would stop talking to His people. Jesus said John 10:27 His sheep hear His voice and he spoke to John, apostle Paul, Peter on the rooftop with the vision of the beasts in the sheet, the prophets of the old testament Isaiah Jeremiah, Moses, Joshua, and countless others. I believe we believe the same God and the same Jesus but it's not the nature of God for Him to be done in speaking audibly seeing that He has all through both the old and new testaments and the last book of the bible revelation. This is our God who speaks to His sheep evidenced in the holy scriptures
Simple: you can’t. This is why every time someone claims to “hear gods voice” we learn on MRI machines that portion of the brain are the persons own thoughts and desires. It’s self delusional thinking and a way to avoid any responsibility at all.
Anger isn’t holy, despair isn’t holy, the Bible says to put your anxieties in God’s hands, is anxiety holy? Emotions are not holy, many emotions are unholy in nature (lust is feeling for instance).

The question starts off with the wrong premise entirely. The canon of scripture is closed. God doesn’t speak audibly. The Holy Spirit illuminates God’s word from the pages. If you’re hearing an audible voice that you think is God, watch out.
IMHO, you are just listening to your own thoughts. Read the Bible and see how God communicates to his people, its through the prophets. If you want to talk to God, that's when you pray to him. If you want to listen to him, read the Bible. That's how the conversation normally goes. Now, if you hear vividly someone talking to your ear with nobody around you, then seek out an exorcist priest for help.

Emotions are a series of chemical reactions in the body. We have no reason to associate that with a god.
