Ho what a sweet surprise to listen to your video. Perfect timing for me. I often want to do big projects and I can get very stressed and overwhelmed instead of enjoying the pleasure of the moment. You brought me back to simplicity and basis - drawing! a pencil, an eraser, a sketchbook and a book for references. So grateful ! I also love and appreciate your calm voice and rythm😊
Danielle! Thank you so much for your kind words. I understand the feeling of getting overwhelmed of big projects, so it's definitely nice to go back to the basics and enjoy art! I'm so glad you found my video and it was perfect timing for you! I wish you all the best in your art endeavors!
Beautiful work. I began to watercolor almost five years ago. I couldn’t draw anything. Now I love drawing. I can’t do anything as complicated as your work, but I’m amazed that I (or anyone) can learn so much by practicing. Do continue your beautiful work. It was a joy to watch.
Thank you so so much for your kind words. You're right, it's amazing how anyone can learn by practicing! I've learned a lot with drawing, painting, etc. I'm so glad you love it all too!!
Aren't botanicals so fun to draw?! I love that even if you get the proportions off a little bit, it still looks like something you find in the garden! :) Thank you so much for writing me! What's been a favorite flower you've drawn? Mine are these square drawings i've been doing more of!
Love seeing how basic your 'tools' are and certainly enjoying watching an example of how to start from scratch a drawing. Looking for positioning on a page as well as drawing the basic shapes within a drawing. Thank you for sharing.💕
I started painting with watercolor but I love graphite. It’s so versatile and easy to take anywhere. I love to draw botanicals but also birds and insects. Thank you for the idea of changing my photo to black and white to better see the lights and darks. Your drawings are so beautiful. Thank you.
Agreed 100% Graphite is so easy to take anywhere, I always have a pencil and paper on me :) And how amazing you draw birds and insects too. I haven't gotten to that level yet, but love the flowers I have been drawing. Maybe I'll start adding in a bee or butterfly to my next ones! (also, you're welcome for the tip of changing photo to black and white - it really helps find your lights and darks) Thank you again for your comment!!
Hello Jaclyn I have lately taken to botanical drawings I'm a beginner new to this but find it very rewarding. I love your botanical artwork drawings and I love how you shared here your excitement. I've suscribed 😊
Hello Deborah! Thank you so so much for your kind words. I'm happy you liked this video and that you are starting your journey of botanical drawings too!! Isn't it so fun? What's your favorite one you've drawn so far?
I enjoyed this. I drew that morning glory (?) and it turned out so-so. I love morning glories. And I love that you shared how you are learning. I am learning as well.
Thank you so much 😀 I’m so glad you drew it too! It’s always good to keep practicing. I’m excited to see where I end up in a few months too with drawing botanicals!
Gorgeous graphite study. I love pencil so much. Try just using your harder pencil for those finer details in the small flowers. The Blackwing firm graphite (in the Natural) is still pretty soft, but it will definitely hold a better point than the soft Matte pencil.
Thanks for the tip! This is really helpful and I can't wait to give it a go. I have some harder lead pencils that I should get out to use just for the tiny details and flowers. 🌼 ✏️
Harder lead will definitely help. Even just a regular old HB should do the trick. I don’t think you need to venture any harder than that, but it’s all worth an experiment!
Just started your video and looking forward to watching. Howerver, it doesn't look as if you have dated each drawing. That's something important to do. So far your work is beautiful. Just had to mention dating your drawins before I got distracted.
Really enjoyed this video. You can really see how you've improved over time. I started my art channel last week and I'm hoping I can track my progress too. Thanks for sharing 🙌
Aw thank you for your kind words! Glad other artists can see the progress too 🙌🏼 And yay for your new channel!! That’s amazing! I’ve been doing my channel for a little over a year now and so enjoy it!
Very intriguing and beautiful work. I’m curious about the program where you turn the image into black and white. I’m only halfway through the video. Perhaps you’ll get into that but I’m intrigued enough to immediately say what program is that lol love your work. Would love to try this. Thanks so much
Hello there, I loved this video. I am wondering about your practice. You mentioned you’ve been practicing for a year, had you been working through those 2 books for your practice? I purchased both of those books and putting together my game plan. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
Hey there! I’m so glad you got the books and are setting up your game plan. That’s awesome!! For the past year I’ve had my books and sketchbook always sitting on my coffee table. That way, whenever I’m settling down for the evening and out on a movie or music, I can grab it to sketch. So I’d say I practiced multiple times a month. Not every day, but at least weekly. Even if it was just drawing a leaf or two. I did t always finish a whole piece in one setting like I did for this video. 😝
Oh no! Have you tried laying down teaching paper (or even parchment paper) to rest your hand on it? You could also try to work right to left - I try to work right to left so I don’t smudge mine either 😆

The violets are GORGEOUS!!!!
Thank YOU!!! I'm so glad you like it!
I also love the erasers that look like an ordinary pencil. You can sharpen them like a pencil.
What is this magic you speak of?!! 😝 I didn't know there were erasers like that!
Love seeing how basic your 'tools' are and certainly enjoying watching an example of how to start from scratch a drawing. Looking for positioning on a page as well as drawing the basic shapes within a drawing. Thank you for sharing.💕
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! thank you!! :)
I love your botanical drawings. You did an amazing job!

If you're going to keep doing these graphite botanicals... I'm in! Love watercolor too!
Haha! Good because I will be continuing it and sharing it! I'll work my way up to creating it in watercolors too :)

@@JoyDiPaola I do have an HB and will be putting it in my zipper pouch to use! :)
I also recommend Faber-Castell Pitt graphite pencils for deep shadows
You do beautiful work BTW.
Ooooh, I'm going to look that up asap - thank you!!

Good point! I date a lot of my work, but I didn't on these. Oopsies!
fantastic job. tks for sharing.
Thank you! Cheers!

I can get fine details with mechanical pencils 03 and 05 are my favourites
That’s a really great idea too! I have a favorite mechanical pencil I can use! I have a 02 and 03 ✏️

I'm so glad you like it so far! The app I used was Lightroom. I'm a professional photographer, so I have LR on my computer and my phone for editing :)

Pretty
Thank you so much!
Thank you….Learned a lot, but my problem comes from being left-handed and my work always gets smudged.
Oh no! Have you tried laying down teaching paper (or even parchment paper) to rest your hand on it? You could also try to work right to left - I try to work right to left so I don’t smudge mine either 😆
Who says you need to start from the top of the book? Start from the bottom and work right to left. Do what feels comfortable and works for you.
@@belindajames3541 Exactly! That's why I like to start on bottom right and work my way up - plus it helps me with not smudging it! ha!
Is the page-flipping supposed to be ASMR? because it's terrible
Haha nope! Never said this was an ASMR video. 😂
