I rented a fiberglass 15 ft prospector a bunch of years ago and it was so fast crossing Opeongo in strong headwinds and heavy waves that the water taxi guys noticed our rapid progress.
Checklists, my wife and I are kayakers, cyclists, hikers, we have a checklist for each activity and we saved ourselves a lot of headaches by checking the lists before the outings. Enjoyed your video.
Oh I LOVE Tim's company! That's where I got all of my Recreational Barrel Works stuff and Missinabi maps- and - they ship to the US! Free over $150 - great store!!
I am really struggling in what to get for a solo boat. Did I hear you say all thing considered you would prefer to paddle a tandem canoe and just sit in the front seat. Congratulations on selling the house. Good luck.
Congrats on the house sale . Never paddled one of the new solo canoes . Stick to my old bob special. When tandem use a 16 ft canoe and still share a tent in the traditional way. But i do own a 2 man eureka tent for solo trips and for those picky partners with snoring etc. PS never been on an overnighter but if i had too , know a lake 1.5 hrs into the park where the specks witch at 10 am .And we're talking surface striking.Even now in Aug.Can't miss them on a 7 ha lake
Thanks for the tips. I have a 16f tuff stuff prospector, i got for tandem and solo , but I find the wind a problem solo in it. I am looking to add a solo canoe and these two look nice, but now it is hard to decide between the two. I do like the aspect for two solo canoe's instead of a tandem canoe myself, unless you are going with you girlfriend.
I'm trying to decide on a yoke for my solo. Basically, 3 options: 1. Clamp on (Northstar). 2. Homemade like Pine Martyn. 3. Wrap a strap around the canoe twice and call it a yoke. All have pros and cons... Oh you gotta try the double blade in stern tandem! It absolutely rips, you can go straight into a storm on big water like you're in a motorboat! It's gotta be 240cm at the very least to reach down there from the tandem, 260 would probably be better.
You say in this and other videos that the fox is asymmetrical. The Novacraft website doesn't mention this and my original Chestnut playmate isn't. Are you sure it's not symmetric?

Good to finally watch a video where solo paddlers are using single blades. My preference has always been slow & steady.
We call them "group solo" trips. Lots of advantages.
Thank you. Tim is a really nice guy. He speaks highly of you. Friendship is never something to take for granted. You are a lucky man.
Heat to see you both enjoying your canoes! Congratulations on you house sale…that was quick! TY!

When one door closes, another opens. Count your blessings, you are living many working stiff's dreams.
Thanks Kevin. Great to see you out with your buddy Tim from COE. Oh yes, congrats on the house sale. Paddle on to your next bend in the river.
I like my Northstar trillium , double blade bigger water but I prefer my otter tale hands down . I love solo boats 👍
Very informative. Thanks Kevin!
Very nice comparision. Thanks.
Nice. Thanks for sharing

Kevin, have you any comments on Swift's Prospector 14? It'd be nice to see you do a report on it.

That was a LOT of meat! 😂
