    Hi, how long did it take you to get the police cert? My partner and I got an ITA and we did the fingerprint, passport cert, etc., and sent them off last week (we didn't think to send to someone, we just sent it straight to the commissioner but will have someone collect and send us pics since everything is uploaded electronically). We paid for express (both mail and with the commissioner), but our document won't get to Ja til first week of Sept. So, I am curious how long it took you to get everything done. Thanks!

    • @ThroughNickysLens
      @ThroughNickysLens  24 дні тому

      Hi Blake. Thanks so much for your question and your explanation so I can understand your case a bit better.
      When we did our police record check we paid for the 21 days service because we did it in advance knowing that we wouldn't be going back to Jamaica for a while so when we got the ITA we already had all that we needed.
      When we did the 21 days service they gave the person a date to come back to collect it within the 21 working days period and it was ready at that particular date.
      In your case, it is not a process I have dealt with before using the commissioner of police so I assume once the documents get to the office in Jamaica is when the processing time that you paid for will start to count. Once the timeframe passes it should be ready. The express is 3 days right? I forgot. If so, I would give at least a full week after the estimated arrival date before the person goes to check on the status of the report. At least that's what I would do... I'm also not sure of the arrangements you have. But they were on time with the report as per the date they gave for the person collecting to come back.
      Please ensure that the scan the person will do to send to you is in colour and the PDF quality is good to upload to IRCC.
      I wish you all the very best with your process and congratulations on your ITA ☺️

    Congrats. I am a student and my spouse is on OWP. I guess my spouse has to complete one year of full time work experience before we will be eligible?

    • @ThroughNickysLens
      @ThroughNickysLens  8 місяців тому

      Hello Mickinetsystems Thank you for your question and for your congratulations.
      It depends. If your spouse has previous skilled work experience from your home country they may already be able to qualify for FSWP but if they reach the one year of work experience in Canada in a skilled job they may be in a better position. In this case, you won't have to show proof of funds to apply for PR once he qualifies for CEC.
      Also, the one year work experience in Canada may also give your husband more points in Express Entry. Your Canadian degree may also give you more points once you successfully complete an eligible program.
      Think through things and do your research to see what will enable you both to be in a good position to get more points and then do what you think is best and also when best to apply. Don't rush the process either. I know the uncertainty can cause you to want to hurry and get things out the way.
      I truly wish you all the very best with your studies and hope that you and your spouse will soon be in a good position to get an invitation to apply for PR.

    • @ThroughNickysLens

      Hello Bukolaajay. If you got your educational credentials assessed from your home country for immigration purposes, from my experience, it will not hurt to include it in your current EE profile. If you do, although you have a Canadian degree, you may get points under Skills Transferability for your foreign education. I included my WES evaluation for my bachelor's degree although I have a Canadian master's. For reference, you can consult this IRCC webpage: www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/documents/education-assessed/who.html

    Congratulations on your PR....Please, if the wife is the primary applicant, can the husband be the one to show POF with his bank statement??

    • @ThroughNickysLens
      @ThroughNickysLens  6 місяців тому

      Hi Lateef thank you and thank you for your question.
      The husband can show the proof of funds but you will have to show evidence somehow that the wife has access to the money or if possible, turn the account into a joint account.
      I took the following from IRCC's website that shows the following:
      "You must be able to use this money to pay for your family’s costs of living (even if they aren’t coming with you).
      If your spouse is coming with you, you can count money you have together in a joint account.
      You may be able to count money in an account under your spouse’s name only, but you must prove you have access to the money."
      Here's the link: www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/documents/proof-funds.html
      In our case, my husband and I showed some funds in a joint account as well as we both had funds in individual savings accounts. However, since my husband also qualified under CEC, we technically did not have to show proof of funds but we did anyway so that may have made a difference in our application.
      I wish you all the best.

      @ThroughNickysLens  5 місяців тому +1

      Hello Rohit,
      Thank you for your question. My husband was working in Canada for the entire time of his Canadian employment.
      As far as I know, any work experience you had working outside of Canada or remotely from outside of Canada does not count towards your Canadian experience for points so it's always best to stay in Canada to accumulate the needed Canadian work experience.
      You can look at the information on this link; I hope it helps. www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/publications-manuals/operational-bulletins-manuals/permanent-residence/economic-classes/experience/qualifying-work-experience.html

    • @ThroughNickysLens
      @ThroughNickysLens  5 місяців тому

      Hi Pia, thank you for your questions.
      From what I know, as a spouse, if you wish to claim points for your education that was not obtained in Canada, it would be helpful to get the ECA especially if you have more than high school qualifications. You may read up more on this by following the link to IRCC's website www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/documents/education-assessed/who.html
      You should only include jobs in your express entry profile for work experience you wish to claim points for. In my case, my husband was the principal applicant so I only included my Canadian work experience in my express entry profile and submited the letter from my Canadian employer. Any work experience you don't put in your profile, of you don't want to claim points for them, once you get the ITA you will list them in another section of the application.
      From IRCC's website, they have listed the following regarding employer letters for work experience:
      "Individuals who must submit this documentation
      The principal applicant
      Their spouse or common-law partner (if work experience in Canada is claimed)"
      The heading you should look for is Proof of work experience and the link to the website is as follows www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/publications-manuals/operational-bulletins-manuals/permanent-residence/express-entry/applications-received-on-after-january-1-2016-completeness-check.html
      I wish you all the best with your application. Please make sure to read the information on IRCC's website to ensure you are comfortable with the information I provided before you proceed.

    If I may ask, what was your husband’s points without the education?

    • @ThroughNickysLens
      @ThroughNickysLens  8 місяців тому

      Hi. Thank you for your question.
      I'm really unsure if IRCC did deduct the points for the education since his degree was not accredited; however, we certainly had enough points even if they eventually did remove the 100+ points he received for his education since we received the additional 600 points from getting a nomination from the province. If you are ever worried about losing points for something, once losing the points wont cost you from being deemed ineligible if you should lose them and once they start processing your PR application, the best thing is to get a provincial nomination if you applied though EE before applying for a program you qualify for with a province.
      What the BC PNP program does ask in their application forms is if applicants completed an eligible post secondary degree and not if the degree is accredited. So from my assumption, the province apparently did not place emphasis on whether the program is accredited or not.
      I hope that my response made some sense.

    Thank you for sharing and congratulations. Very informative. I'm also a recent UCW graduate and a Jamaican as well. I have these questions:
    1. Does your husband have an IT job in Canada now when he made this application, or he applied just with past experience?
    2. Did he have to get any supporting documents from his current employer to support this application apart from the job description?
    3. As it relates to the household income threshold, are you saying because he is qualified for CEC you wrote a letter to justify that with this eligibility he doesn't need proof of funds?
    Thank you for this!

    • @ThroughNickysLens
      @ThroughNickysLens  10 місяців тому +3

      Hi Jestina thank you so much and congratulations on your graduation 😊
      1. No, my husband's job here in Canada is not IT. The noc code for his current job and that applied for PR under is 22310 - Electrical and electronics engineering technologists and technicians. We proved that some of his previous job duties in Jamaica in 2 jobs he had before related to what he is doing now. So we claimed also for directly related work experience in the BC PNP application.
      2. Yes, we needed to get supporting documents from his current employer to support the BC PNP application. The employer was willing to do this and all they had to do was provide company documents and complete a form specific to the role my husband is employed in and their efforts in the hiring process and so forth. The documents the company should provide if the pathway requires a job or job offer in Canada is located in the BC PNP Program Guide: chrome-extension://efaidnbmnnnibpcajpcglclefindmkaj/www.welcomebc.ca/Immigrate-to-B-C/documents/BC-PNP-SI-EEBC-Program-Guide.aspx
      3. Yes. We provided this proof to IRCC. He initially qualified for EE under CEC as well as our household income did meet and exceed BC's Wage/Income Threshold so we wrote a letter to IRCC explaining these and indicated that we do not need to show proof of funds. ircc.canada.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=1145&top=29 check this under the "Note" section of this IRCC page.
      To BC PNP, in the BC PNP Profile and the Application for Nomination we have to outline the hourly salary (even if you are not paid hourly) as well as your job letter, and the document the company fills out will detail your annual salary.
      I hope my responses clarified what you wanted to know. Let me know if you have any other questions.

      Please look under the heading Proof of work experience for full details on what your employment letter should include which are:
      The following documents are mandatory for each work experience declared:
      a reference or experience letter from the employer, which
      should be an official document printed on company letterhead (must include the applicant’s name, the company’s contact information [address, telephone number and email address], and the name, title and signature of the immediate supervisor or personnel officer at the company),
      should indicate all positions held while employed at the company and must include the following details: job title, duties and responsibilities, job status (if current job), dates worked for the company, number of work hours per week and annual salary plus benefits; and
      if the applicant is self-employed, articles of incorporation or other evidence of business ownership, evidence of self-employment income and documentation from third-party individuals indicating the service provided along with payment details (self-declared main duties or affidavits are not acceptable proof of self-employed work experience).
      If the work experience is in Canada, proof may include copies of T4 tax information slips and notices of assessment issued by the Canada Revenue Agency (the time period for these documents should reflect the work experience timeframe [e.g., work experience from 2006 to 2008 requires only documents from those calendar years]).
      Individuals who must submit this documentation
      The principal applicant
      Their spouse or common-law partner (if work experience in Canada is claimed)
