    The actor who played Immortan Joe also played the villain in the first mad max movie.
    Bakery supplies stores couldn’t keep silver cake spray in stock after this came out because it’s what they used to spray their mouths.
    The actress who played the pregnant wife is married to Jason Statham.

    "Mad Max: Fury Road" is a great example of implementing CGI very well. There's CGI but it's not really noticeable and it's used to slightly augment certain scenes. I wish more filmmakers would use it as a tool instead of a crutch.

    The best way to look at the franchise- Max is real and not real, like Robin Hood, John Henry , or Hercules. He’s the hero/legend of the post apocalyptic future for the wastelands.
    You can have unrelated adventures and stories told by people who fought with him or people just telling a story they heard. Can use different actors and remain true to the legend. Same as 007.

    Deleted scene sheds light into the milking mothers.... a woman has a baby and essentially tosses it aside because she can be brought up to live up there and produce milk. You actually see her in the middle of the lift.
    The mothers are well fed and continue to milk. One even has her deceased baby. The amount of subliminal world building in this movie is some of the best I've seen. You essentially can create it on your own

    This is one of them.

    • @LordLOC
      @LordLOC 2 місяці тому +1

      I don't think I've ever seen anyone hating this. I've seen people say it doesn't make much sense (which, I mean the plot is as simple as they come lol, come on) or that the movie is "exhausting" because it's just a 2-hour chase sequence basically with barely any down time. Or that the acting from Tom Hardy is really non-existent because he has like what, 10 lines in the entire movie and just grunts and moans the rest of the time? I've even seen people say the movie is "woke" because they had Furiosa take over as the "main character" from Max - which if they've seen ANY of the other Mad Max movies, they would know Max is normally not even the main character in those movies - just that the plot always revolves around something he finds himself in. But I've never seen anyone outright say the movie is bad or horrible. It's objectively an incredibly well shot movie, amazing music and out of this world action. From a guy who directed Happy Feet and last directed a Mad Max movie in the late 80s lol

    • @UpTheDown7

      @@LordLOC Nah the focus on the women definitely had people against it when the trailer came out and a few conservative sights gave it a bad reviews because of that - pretty sure Ben Shapiro was one of them. • @TreeHairedGingerAle
      @TreeHairedGingerAle 2 місяці тому +1

      @@UpTheDown7 Oh, definitely, I'm not denying that it was hated on! I just share EOM's disbelief, and ultimate dismissal, of the complaints against it being a good movie...
      Complaints, which, indeed, were _mainly_ made by those who cited 'feminism' and 'wokeness'.... 🤷🏾‍♀️ But then, people so driven by insecurity, and by hatred of various demographics, who basically seek out media as a way to maintain a state of mental sleep? Have no opinion that I'm interested in considering whatsoever.

    When I watched this for the first time, It broke me. The part where the older woman had died but had a smile on her face. It reminded me of my mum for some reason and I managed to hold on till the end of the movie but then couldn't hold it anymore and just broke down and cried for awhile. ;-;

    • @LordLOC
      @LordLOC 2 місяці тому

      Sorry man. My cousin's friend had a similar reaction to the older woman dying with a smile on her face since her mother apparently died with a smile on her face also (though I assume not in a life-or-death car chase or stabbing someone with a bullet) and he too broke down at the end crying. It's little things like that, that make this movie so well-crafted if you ask me. Not that something reminding you of a loved one passing away is good, but you know, everyone on the planet has this in common so it makes sense it hits people.

    Max had blood type O-, meaning he's a universal donor. That's how he was able to save Furiosa.

    • @jansenart0
      @jansenart0 Місяць тому +2

      That's a false plot point but could be miraculously true;
      0NEG is only universal donor for red blood cells (RBCs). It's the most important blood type since we generally separate cells from plasma and replace plasma with saline.
      ABPOS is the universal donor for PLASMA. If you combine the two whole bloods, or indeed two whole bloods from two different types, they will agglutinate, cause clots, and kill.
      If you're doing a whole blood transplant, then you need exact type match (RH is only important in reference to pregnant women or eventual transfusions to pregnant women).
      That being said, there's an EXTREMELY rare mutation called "Golden Blood" that has no antigen markers at all, and can be used to transfuse whole into anyone. People with it are kept anonymous to prevent oligarchs from kidnapping them and literally using them as blood bags. It would appear as 0NEG.

    • @marshallprince2583
      @marshallprince2583 Місяць тому

      @jansenart0 WOW! Great information. Thanks for sharing!
      I figure since the movie made a point to show the tattoo the war boys put on Max's back saying he was a universal donor, the intent was just to justify for those of us with less hematological knowledge that Max could, indeed, save Furiosa with his blood. I imagine they figured anyone who knew better could just suspend disbelief enough to enjoy the movie. It's kind of like watching a Michael Bay action sequence when you have a working knowledge of physics.
      Thanks for sharing, though. Golden blood sounds very interesting, and I'm going to look it up now.

    This is one of the most metal looking movies of the past 10 or so years.
    And that's partly due to composer Tom Holkenborg/Junkie XL. His musical score for this movie was perfect.
    Loudly powerful orchestral parts, metal sounding guitars, intense electronics and tribal drums. What more could you ask for?
    Can't wait to hear the soundtrack for the upcoming prequel.

    One way to look at this series is to imagine each film as a campfire story told after the end of the world. And that Max, while he may have been a real person at one point, has become a kind of folk hero. Like Johnny Appleseed or Davy Crockett. And so, the differences and contradictions are explained by the stories being told by different people in different places. With 'Max' as the central character being the only constant.

    The stories of Max are not one continous one, they are folk-tales, handed down over long times, told at camp fires in the evenings, gaining detail with each re-telling. There werer multiple persons who were 'Max', that's why those stories can take place so timely distant to each other, the first one just when society collapses, now that one decades later.

    This...to me...is the most visually stunning and exciting film in the franchise! I grew up watching Mad Max films so I had waited a LONG TIME for this bad boy to release!! When I found out Tom was the new 'Max', my naughty bits tingled a little, I think he's a fantastic choice for broody Max! Charlize, of course, KILLS IT!! She's just Bad, that's all I'm sayin'!!
    Knowing the original creator was making this, I knew it'd be great. It was nice seeing the original 'world' get the homage it deserved and it could have only been done this good by George Miller himself. Beautiful!
    The only issue I had was the disappointment I felt when Max turned out to be barely a supporting character. I would have been FINE with a Imperator Furiosa standalone film in the world of Mad Max, if they had just sold it to us that way. Max was barely a blip on the screen and I was pretty bummed about it at the time. Still am, but am very much looking forward to the new film.....her standalone. I've seen this film over 10 times, and I'll probably watch the new one as many times!!

    Another theory is that Mad Max is that wild kid from the 2nd one, the feral kid with the boomerang. They say that max like the kid grunts more than he talks, and he has the little song box that max gave to the kid, there's alot more to it but there is an interview with IGN where they tell the director goerge Miller and he loves the evidence they bring up😂

    There's really an interesting metaphor at work overall in the film, involving the idea of accepting responsibility for ones actions and growing up. Furiosa realizes she has done wrong, but her initial efforts to fix what she has done are those of a young person who doesn't understand true repentance. She flees from her problem, back to a memory of a comforting, safe mother's embrace and lush, idealistic memories of childhood and security. But she finds when she gets there that the idyllic home isn't there anymore, and while mother might be able to offer words of comfort and some amount of help, she can't fix everything. Furiosa is then faced with a choice of either continuing down that path to her own destruction, or as Max offers, turning and facing the consequences of her own actions head on and attempting to truly fix things. It's really quite a wonderful message to go with absolutely epic action scenes.

    Since you’re also leaning into gaming, I highly recommend the video game tie-in. It’s also a prequel to this film, with Max wandering the wasteland battling the troops of Scabrus Scrotus, another bastard warlord son of Immortan Joe. That’s where you first meet the little girl who keeps haunting him.

    Theres no legitimate haters on this movie. No way. I mean... Max kind of isnt the main character in the movie with his name on it but...shoulder shrug, this movie go hard from beginning to end. ( psst theres a huge effort to just get people fighting with each other out there. You dont gotta buy into it. Just support what you like, dont what you dont. It'll work itself out, promise ). Love that mouth censor lmao

    I saw this in theaters with some friends when it released. After we got out, we just kinda stood in a circle with nothing to say, literally awestruck. It was an experience, plain and simple. Also there's a great theory about how Max is immortal, and so many good breakdowns of how layered this movie really is. An absolute masterpiece.

    Absolutely phenomenal action, J! This is one of the greatest films made this century, and I'm glad you enjoyed it. George Miller is a genius! As some people have already pointed out, Immortan Joe was played by Hugh Keays-Byrne, the actor who also played Toecutter in the first Mad Max film. But what you might not realize is that, before Fury Road, George Miller was about to direct a Justice League film (Justice League: Mortal) and Keays-Byrne was cast as J'onn J'onzz/Martian Manhunter. And Megan Gale, who played Valkyrie (the brunette warrior run over by the truck in the final Fury Road battle) was Miller's Wonder Woman for the Justice League film.
    Also, J, if you want to see a different side of George Miller's work that's not quite so cocaine-cabinet worthy, then check out Babe (1995) and Happy Feet (2006) if you haven't already.

    Fun Fact: Brendan McCarthy that co-wrote this film and was responsible for designing the new characters and vehicles in this movie also worked as a principal designer for a CGI show called *ReBoot* His design for Megabyte as a truck was used in an episode that is parody to Max Max called *Bad Bob* so I guess he reused the design for the Megatruck to create the War Rig.

    Fun fact: The red-haired girl is Elvis Presley's granddaughter, Riley Keough. Her husband is one of the amazing stunt men on this film. They met on set & the rest is history.
    They now have a baby girl named Tupelo (after Elvis's birth place). Riley is still an actress (nominated twice for Golden Globe awards & multiple others) & co-founder of a successful production company.
    Since the passing of her mother, Lisa Marie Presley, she is now the sole owner of Graceland. She's a savvy business woman & multi-talented.
    She also has a lovely singing voice. The genes for beauty & talent run strong in that family.
