Nostalgia just hit me like a bus. Exo Force was one of my favourite unlicensed themes growing up, as well as Mars Mission, Aqua Raiders, Ninjago 1 and Power Miners
There were lots of sets in the mid 2000s that gave you this much content in a set. Nowadays though there’s more of a focus on durability and compactness.
@@ChrisFoley0803 lol what on Earth are you talking about? LEGO sets are absolutely more durable today than they were 10+ years ago. That's not even up for debate. It's just a matter of fact that the technogy and techniques have evolved that way.

I can easily forgive Exo-Force having flimsy mech builds because they were just so ridiculously cheap for what you got. Most of the large mechs that came by themselves were only 15-20 bucks a piece, and you only needed 2 of them as a kid to have a blast. Compare that to nowadays where LEGO sets are ridiculously expensive because you have a lot more small details and structural support pieces being put in. If LEGO made a new wave of Exo-Force today they'd put 2 times the pieces into each mech and then sell them for $50-$60 a pop.
Exo-Force was such a good series. Really wish it had been better marketed and more popular (or made a comeback). Such a good set and loved hearing you talk through it. You are so right on the value. It’s incredible! And this is a set that’s right up your street. I need to collect a few more of the mechs I never collected. Thanks for sharing this!

I wonder if you still win sets that big in the giveaways they hold nowadays. When I won one of those, it got me that big Exo-Force tank from the second or third wave. That was my most prized LEGO set for a long time.
Took me forever to source the batteries and learn how to crack open those ‘sealed’ light bricks from all my old Exo-Force sets. But now they light up beautifully once more!
I *Wanted* this set so bad back in the day... I Wanted *Every Last* Exo-Force set ever produced. I'm still confused at how LEGO completely forgot what makes sets like this fun. As much as I like the modern detail and durability of modern sets, they just lack this feeling of childlike wonder.... it really is a shame that LEGO changed the way it did...
Everything changes over time and I'd say that it's a bless for us that nowadays the bricks are much advanced that what we used to have. Nostalgia is well, nostalgia, and I don't think we could do anything about it.
Exo Force was just barely before my time, I started seriously collecting Lego right after Exo Force was retiring. I still remember seeing it in the catalogues though, so this is great to see!
I remember reading the Lego Brickmaster Magazine (I still in fact have this very magazine in my bedroom) with this set on the cover over and over. I loved this set and liked to imagine myself playing with it. I never got it, though the set to me always brought me joy. Cool to see it in video form .
I literally have the whole line, including three unreleased, but recreated sets, two were meant to be polybags, only the instructions were finalized, the third one is the famous jungle thrasher, beautiful set, to this day I hope Lego may consider doing a reboot of the series, but keep the whole armed to the teeth look for the devastators, the real meca one has yet to show its face!
Young me wanted this set more than anything just because it was a big base, it's funny looking back and seeing just how barebones and plain it really was. I do appreciate just how much space there is though, it is one of the few large location sets for action themes where it feels like there's actually enough space to store a bunch of the hero vehicles.
Man, I would kill for a Exo-force style theme again. The newer mechs are much more detailed but they're also HUGE compared to these. I want stuff like Cole's mech in the Thunder Raider and the Golden Mech from the Ninjago Legacy line. Those were much closer to Exo-force's size so they end up being both sturdy AND articulate enough to get some nice dynamic poses. That's all I want man. I've seen it, it can happen. What god do I have to pray to to make this come true.
