Love the relaxing way this salvage game loop can be added to the usual Skunk operations. Bring an figther escort for defense and finding pannels, have a vulture or two to salvage and anchor the lot to a transport ship like an M2 that is capable of defending itself nicely and has a few Skunks to both work the transfer of boxes to the M2 and serve as gunners should the need arrise.
The 3rd person camera shots while piloting were incredible! Solo/small crew salvage sounds like so much fun and I can't wait for the vulture to be more readily available.
Been watching the channel for a few months and have been following star citizen since 2021 super interested In the game and wouldn’t mind trying out salvaging as a first time player seems pretty self explanatory and simple enough for my pea brain.
If you enter gimbal mode with your scrapers on you don't have to move the ship to move the scrapers. Your mouse will move them. The bug with no material given seemed to be fixed when the filler station ejected one box and hasn't yet made another you just moved the first ejected box. It's like the station has a ghost box inside and thus thinks it can't make another one till it's ejected and can't till you clear the station in front. As always, I appreciate your videos. I can't wait till you do the Reclaimer live aboard videos, I loved the Corsair series.
I love the way you immediately find all the workarounds needed to solve the problems you come across. I look forward to seeing the well oiled system I'm sure you guys will create.
Really awesome to see this first hand view of the salvage profession! This is the game loop I told myself I would finally join the game for!I've been waiting for salvage since day one, I was just too broke to back it back then! I spent 3 years saving up and building a pc that fit the specs for this game only to have it stolen from my studio. I spent another 3 years rebuilding it and now the moment is finally almost here! I am so exited for salvage!
Awesome stuff. We did some Vulture salvaging yesterday but had some issues, looks like servers are still a bit wonky. With a lot of patience we managed to have a small profit. Can't wait for more ^^
Yeah i think most of the problems we saw (except the elevator on the reclaimer) are things that will get smoothed out as the servers are tweaked to accomodate PES :) it was all fun even with the problems :D
Absolutely, had a ton of fun yesterday and I love all the new content. Had the luck of starting off on a server with 5 people only, everything was just working. Once the server filled up, everything just took a long time to process (30 to 60 secs of retrieving a ship), but with patience everything worked out so far.
Thank you for this. Haven't been able to find any informative salvaging vids from 3:18 live. You answered some questions for me and as always your vids are eminently watchable. Looking forward to the next.
My friends and I have found usually the misadventures getting to the adventure are the most fun. Love your videos. Very well done and always entertaining. Thanks.
nice look at the vulture there, I can so imagine swarms of Vultures descending on the aftermath of a round of Skunkopoly if you do more of them in the future
It's great to see a lot of people taking to salvage also that, like mining, you can do it solo but you are quickly encouraged to reap the benefits from working with others.
Great to see a bit of how salvage works with both ships. Looks like it will be a great gameplay loop for slowing the pace with all the bounty missions, and taking some "chill" time alone or with a couple of friends ! Thanks for the video !
I’m glad the live server snafus haven’t stopped you completely from putting out new videos! I always look forward to seeing what you and the org are playing around with on any given week.
I helped my buddy last night fill up a Corsair with his Vulture. It took a few hours, but we were able to cram 115 salvage boxes into the back of that baby. Made nearly 900k. The Vulture paired with a cargo ship is an amazing money maker with 2 people.
Great video! I'm pretty eager to get out and do some more salvaging myself. I've been doing a lot of NPC bounties to kick off this wipe because limiting interaction with ASOPs and ATC is less frustrating than the cargo/mining loops, but once things are a bit more stable I'm going to be chilling in the Vulture, scraping hulls.
Thank you for the video. It answered a lot of my questions about the current stability. Also when I'm piloting in I will never aim at the station. I always aim off to the side a little bit. Then after slowing down, I will fly in at a slower speed.
A couple tips I've found: sometimes the radar signature number gets bugged in scanning mode, and won't appear. The workaround is to toggle scanning mode off and on a few times, send out a ping and point at one of the return clouds. The signature will start showing again after a few tries. All salvage seems to have a signature which is a multiple of 2000. The HUD bug where it stops reporting incoming material is tied to a similar bug on the hopper screen in the back. I found that storing and recalling the ship or even logging out/in will refresh the box and HUDs, giving you a full box ready to eject. The bug happens more often once there's already a lot of boxes in the cargo room. To store larger amounts, I've been filling up 24 scu in the Vulture, then flying back to near one of the pads at the local station, going in and calling up a cargo ship, flying that over to the Vulture and moving all the boxes into the larger grid, then storing that cargo ship to keep it safe while I got out for 24 more scu.
A neat trick for getting a hoverbike out of a station like that: Retrieve a big ship that uses a fly-out hangar, then immediately retrieve the hoverbike. The game prefers to keep that hangar reserved for you, so it just replaces the big ship with the hoverbike.
Your videos are so cool. I really enjoy how you ACTUALLY show gameplay and how things are working for you. Keep up the great work! This salvage gameplay looks amazing with a team. Solo, is doable, but team play seems to be where its at.
Wow! Salvaging has got to be my favorite part of 3.18. It's oddly satisfying and getting to do it with friends makes it even better. Thanks for the great content!💜
2 things right off the bat: You can actually use the elevator if the one on the same floor is sending the elevator up, it only bugs if you try and call it from another floor. As for the bottom hatch "entrance", you can gather enough speed to enter the cargo hold with the pull mechanic on the tractor beam.
Thank you for presenting your solo method, teamed with your wonderful story telling cadence, your videos open up so many avenues to playing Star Citizen...as always, Love your videos!.
@@Citizen_Kate Vaše videa sleduji moc rád, i když ve Star Citizen nejsem nováček a hraji to v party každý den..Přesto mě potěší, reakce tohoo typu. Děkuji, a přeji mnoho úspěchů..
As Always, Love your vids. You make it so entertaining! I have had the same problems with the Vulture not pulling material into the boxes while burning the salvage piece. I had to move to a different piece or bedlog and try again. Hope this bug gets fixed soon. Also on the Reclaimer, you can get someone in the Salvage hold through the rear door, have the pilot close the door and the person can get on the door lift, open the outer doors again and the person rides the door lift up to Salvage processing. My crew does this as a workaround. Keep up the great work. Cant wait to see what's next!
Just a pointer from my salvaging experience in the Vulture, press "G" or whatever your gimble hotkey is, then use freelook. This makes it SO much easier as you don't have to shift the whole ship around when salvaging.
I've always like your videos, especially the battles, its fun to see what larger Star Citizen battle can be while we wait for them to become more commonplace.
I’m looking forward to seeing how they flesh out salvage in the future. Right now it doesn’t feel like there’s a lot of risk other than getting annoyed that you have to clear the conveyer belt again
The amount of time you spent getting all that together and then editing on top of that makes the "like" something thats just morally the right thing to do. I enjoyed it too so double like woo.
Outstanding work Katie. I've been wanting to group a cargo hauler with the Vulture, but didn't dare to do it solo. This seems like a natural pairing with the Vulture, since it has such small cargo capacity.
I am glad I found this channel, its always nice to see the game from others perspective. Looking forward to salvaging and I really want try the idea of having one massive cargo ships and a bunch of drone vultures munching away :D
I really like how you keep this awesome looking content coming even when the game is experiencing some.. hickups :) Looking forward to trying salvaging when I get a chance to try one of the ships!
Honestly, I didn't see what the hype was about with salvage when it was just on the release timeline, but your videos on it have shown me how fun it can be and also how profitable. Y'all keep up the good work!
If you board the friendly NPC ships on beacon missions and deal with the piolets before they jump you can salvage their ships as well as the target NPC ships. Tried it last night and it was awesome.
Commenting for the vulture, but I keep coming back for the content. No other sc creator has the dedication to narrative, aesthetics, and competence that this channel has, not to mention a deep curiosity of systems and bugs that would make QA proud. I can't wait for your next "life aboard" series, in 3.18 it's going to rock.
if you closed external, you can lower the door that goes down to the salvage hold, open the external again and the door will push you up to the salvage processing
The issues with the reclaimer are truly a shame. It's one of the only ships that has a livable industrial feel to them without feeling like it's just a large tractor - Hurston Lite Mobile™. But as always, I appreciate your dedication to making an idea happen with your creative knowledge of the game mechanics!
I still haven't been able to actually get in the PU since 3.18 launched, but I'm still excited. The salvage game play loop looks so relaxing (including the random detonations)!
I just love the idea of having a Vulture as your daily driver. Running bunkers with it in the PTU was fun because you could just scrape the ships that were there and blown up then run the bunker grab your loot and continue. And it might not be the most combat-capable ship but, you can still run VLRTs with it and get the best of the salvage and combat worlds
The salvage loop is one of the most interesting that'd I'd like to get into in this game. It looks like a great relaxing way to listen to some music or a podcast or chatting with a friend as they salvage alongside you or transport your boxes.
This was such an awesome video. It really seems super relaxing. This could be an expansion of the week-long mining op we did last year. A Carrack flagship with provisions, a Starfarer for fuel, an M2 or C2, and a couple Pisces as shuttles between all the ships and as supply runners could make an awesome long-term op and video to boot.
I didn't have issues in the PU with selling additional boxes that are not on the cargo grid, doing 24 SCU runs with the Vulture. They don't even bounce out of the ship anymore which is great.
I had a vulture bug for a long tine in PTU whereby after the first 2 boxes salvaged getting out of the pilot seat froze my screen crashing the game. I reported it and it looks like its fixed now. Learning from your vids, excellent editing ! Thank you.
Genuinely impressed you managed to stick to it and accomplish as much as you did in the video given the instability of 3.18 at the moment, so far the furthest I've managed to get is resetting my spawn from New Babbage to Port Tressler 😅
I finally managed to actually get into the game yesterday, and it was nice being able to play again. Better performance, and a more accurate pip, makes for much more fun combat. I'll have to try salvaging as well, once I get myself a salvaging ship.
The loading the Cat up with salvage means some amazing things. You could get a small fleet of salvagers running around and all filling up the cat and work as a team.
8:20 the Abrade Scraper is actually the less efficient of the two modules on the Vulture but it covers a significantly larger area which, even though it's "speed" is technically lower than the Cinch as well, results in more than twice the extraction amount per second compared to the Cinch. So, Cinch will overall get more out of each piece of wreckage but it'll take a LOT longer to do so
Salvaging in 3.18 has been so fun and relaxing. I hope the game gets in a more stable state so more people can enjoy it. It’s nice getting to rebuild after the wipe with all the new things that were added in 3.18
Haven't been able connect to a server since 3.18 patch, so I've been watching videos instead. Hope you have a great week/weekend to whoever reads this!
At the beginning of the storm that was 3.18 live launch, I was able to get connected and be the cargo bay guy in someone's vulture. I was able to carefully pack the boxes in to have 21 boxes of scrap, almost twice the normal grid capacity! I'm renting a prospector now, building up money to buy my own and get on that quantanium grind! I miss my Mole from 3.17 😭
Im glad 3.18 is working for most of us now , it will just take a few weeks to fix the major bugs . hope to see your life aboard videos of the reclaimer
I found your channel with the life aboard series and I have went through and watched everything since and I just want to say thanks for always producing great content!!
I had a small piece of debris keep regenerating material as I scraped it. I got a full SCU out of it despite there being 5% left on the piece. Though the server 30K’d shortly after filling the hopper.
Love the relaxing way this salvage game loop can be added to the usual Skunk operations. I hate that you had so much trouble but it definitely shows how important multi crew really is. Thanks for another great video.
Salvage gameplay definitely would be a nice change in pace for earning credits in game.
The solo logistics in this salvage run are amazing. Cool to see what's possible, even on your own!
Great video!
I did some salvage with a friend and their vulture. I was the cargo ship / box mover. Enjoyable loop.
I do love content where you try things out and treat it like a real universe! The cinematic cameras really help as well.
