@@waldoval I wish I lived in LA for the amazing music that can be heard there. I've never been to the Baked Potato, but I've seen many incredible videos of live performances there. What a privilege to have that on your doorstep. Same goes for NYC, the Blue Note and the Village gigs. Hiram and Will Lee were such fun guys, both pretty good singers and both so incredibly musical. No surprise the TV show bands wanted them. I love the live videos that include Clint de Ganon, who I believe joined their gigs after doing his broadway shows. When Clint and Will Lee locked in, it was the perfect foundation for Hiram to do his stuff. I love the funny stuff Hiram would say, one of my favourite lines is "Hey, you'll find my new CD in the Jazz Section, that's the no sale section". I'm impressed you can emulate his style, unless of course that happens to be your style too. If anything your playing is too smooth, Hiram had a unique ability to play almost ragged, but he had perfect feel and timing. It's a little like the best drummers, for example Jeff Porcaro and Carlos Vega. They always played a tiny bit ahead or behind the beat which gave them a distinctive feel that makes them immediately identifiable. Similarly Yogi Horton hit the drums harder than almost any other drummer whilst being technically perfect and having great feel. There are many other great drummers, great guitarists, great players on every instrument but those who are special have that little something that sets them apart. That's the essence of what makes a great artist. I'm a frustrated musician, I can play stuff if I practise a ton but I don't have creativity and my ear isn't good enough to play the right thing at the right time live, but I know what sounds good when I hear it.
Awesome!!!! You got that signature chromatic stuff down that Hiram use to do. I am still trying to figure that out!! awesome!
