SBA, SCORE and your local libraries are excellent resources for small business owners. SBA has classes and funding, SCORE provides mentoring through retired executives and libraries often sponsor workshops (check their calendars). Blessings

I was a caregiver making soaps and lotions on the side just as gifts really but the lady i was caring for recently was put into a home so i figured i already love doing this and want to make it full time. I have saved some money up for starting up and buying my supplies. I do have a friend who started a business and has been successful and lives off of only that and that is really where i want to be and just create things people love and show my artsy side

It has been a bit overwhelming with one of our members going on hiatus and the manager (as well as myself) having serious health problems. How do you create a contingency plan when you're recovering from a serious accident? I'm not nearly as bad as I was initially, but I do still have my days. Yet, I want to get on top of the business and run it, not let it run me.

Great video, and thank you for your tips and tricks!! I have been trying to find new ways of optimizing my business planner!! I'm full time, self employed and feel like my true "job" is simply finding solutions no matter the task at hand. I've always kept a pen and pad on me at all times for notes etc. Something about putting important information in my phone seems to just get "lost". A "business plan" before business is important however in my personal experience that is what kept me from starting businesses that other people have had and are seeing success in currently. I thought that I planned for absolutely everything, and for the most part I did business wise, but honestly it just isn't 100% possible. Business is about adapting and making it work no matter what. In the last year some appliances crapped out (They are all kenmore which is owned by sears and they are going out of business so it'll be difficult to source parts for soon), had some plumbing issues, was bitten by a copperhead which that up costing a small fortune even with good insurance! As well as a few other unforeseen events. I knew how much money that I needed for all of my bills, house, and saved and planned accordingly. Another "issue" that I've run into is coordinating with other people and businesses ordering/shipping essential products when they say that they are, as well as many other things. My point is don't let not having the perfect "business plan" before you begin stop you from accomplishing your goals, because it's going to be changing so rapidly you'll barely have time to breath. You just have to start and take it from there, you'll honestly learn a GREAT deal along the way. Embrace the journey!!

And the tabs you have on, don't they refer to different pages in the folder? Kindly reply. I'm a bit confused.
Sole proprietors have no personal protections from liability. Depending on your state laws, llc's vary according to state law, registration as an ll may protect your personal assets from business liabilities. Check your Secretary of State website for local structure in your state and you can check IRS.gov for federal tax implications.
Ken Ken I did a sole proprietor because it's less overhead to start up. And ther is no yearly tax fee unlike LLC which iN California is $800+. That can be intimidating for a new start-up. But I have plans in a years time to switch to an LLC, so that I can have limited liability and asset protection. Hope this helps.
