BIGBANG isn't just a big idol of BTS, they are the idols of idols for a very long time. They were YG's first IDOL group. A company that centered on hip-hop and vocal artists. A lot of idols fans dislike their visuals while hip-hop fans hated the idea of an idol coming out of YG. But once they came out with sample songs before debut, non-idol fans began listening to their songs. They also brought back OG idol fans that began to dislike idol songs. (IDOLS used to be made fun of a lot in the old days. Even Koreans began to dislike it around the late 1st gen era). BIGBANG was like a REFRESH button. A restart that no one expected they needed. The Khiphop community was probably one of the biggest critics of idol companies. I don't blame them since there was a time some idol companies added "rappers" that aren't talented at all. But among all idols, BIGBANG remained respected by the Khh community.

Bigbang genres have no bound. They originally more to hiphop and r&b but through out years they are not afraid to try different genres. They have 100% control on their music and a lot like the producing of their album(write and produce), album concept,concert(they would also fund their own concert of their own pocket) and perfomance etc… Bigbang were the one who brought YG Entertainment to become a big company back then. You can google their older building a small rundown place, how they were struggling in their trainees. Bigbang is more like a rebelious boy group. They were different from other, most idol would suck up to their fans and general public all that but they just do what they want. But because of their attitude they actually manage to make a name for themself, they become the legendary of kpop industry. Even after many years, their name would constantly be spoken by younger kpop artist. They were their idols. The first to a lot of things. Nowadays many younger generation fans would discredit Bigbang but still that would not change a fact. Most of people i know are not really interested in kpop but if you mention bigbang or play their songs they would definitely know it. And some say bigbang is their only exception. Till these days people still know them despite their hiatus. But Taeyang is back, and so are the others. Yes his name is 'Taeyang' aka The 'golden voice' Fun fact, I personally don't know any other childhood friends who became k-pop idols togather and become equally famous other than Taeyang and G-Dragon... Yep they are childhood friends and members of the most influential group of all time in k-pop i.e BigBang.
I read that T.O.P. was also friends with G Dragon, but from middle school, until GD moved away. Later, it was GD that brought T.O.P. into YG. T.O.P., GD and Taeyang all became friends through a love of and passion for music. GD and Taeyang didn't just go to school together though, they were trainees together from about 13 as well. Super close.

Yay SEVENTEEN! Yes, they use '13 members + 3 main units + 1 team = SEVENTEEN' as an explanation for their group name. Their group name originates from a predebut show the company gave the trainees called "Seventeen TV". Carats assume the company called it that because they wanted 17 members, but the company never actually confirmed any explanation for why they wanted the number 17 involved. The lineup for the group never got to 17 members and I'm pretty sure they only kept the name because it was already associated with them, then they added the explanation later on.
