This is exactly what I was looking for.
I have a small farm and I am looking for initial crops to plant this year and these videos are very informative, so thank you!

hi Paul. Starting with "how much land do i need?", think about a few crops on a 3-4 year rotation that could include sunflowers, soybeans, rye, corn, etc. Look at which of these other farmers are growing in your area, talk with your Extension agent and seek out customers for each of these before you plant! If 40 acres, I'd look at 10 acres each of 4 crops, or 3 crops @ 13 acres ea., so every 3-4 years you're back to where you started. Send us an email for more info to (vtbiofuels"at"vsjf.org)

What about making the methanol on the farm? Is that feasible, safe, legal?

One can use ethanol. The ratio is using twice as much ethanol as methanol. It has some problems such as drying after distillation. Water is the enemy. It can be done. Methanol is usually derived from petroleum.
