Any day of the week I'd have this over a bandsaw type mill if it weren't for the fact I can't cut 12x12s" on my own. I could get the slabbing attachment but it would be great if I could do it all with a circular blade as I wouldn't have to turn the log. What would be great is that as an attachment if you could buy a blade large enough to do 12" cross cuts to accurately square off the ends too - even bandsaw mills don't address what i see as somewhat of a glaring omission.
Perhaps a way around the first part of the problem is to buy 2x cutting jigs and a couple of track extensions and have a jig at each end.

It can be done on your own. Put the blade flat and in the middle over the log, lower the rails so the trolley is on the flat of the log, spin the mil, raise and cut from the other side. Lucas are ok with this.

can you make multiple cuts, horizontal, downward, then switch the direction of the mill and finish the cuts for multiple boards vs. doing them one at a time? hope that makes sense. Stacked cuts, go to the other side and complete....? May have to wedge the first cuts? Have ordered a 6-16 based on watching your work, looking forward to using the mill.

Recently I watched a vid of a Petersen Mill being demoed,,, they cut a couple of weather boards,,, it wouldn't be hard to add another stop at the angle required to cut the taper ,, the only problem is a std. weather board is 7 inch 175 mm where this mill could only cut 6 inch 150 mm .. I will add the Petersen mill was only a 150 mm also..

lucas mills make a weatherboard attachment , you have to cut vertical though.

Mate your a bit of a spin doctor here . I run a Lucas mill 10" 30 hp and as for your measuring here I ask myself a Question ! ..... your winging it , and as far as turning your mill head , this is not nesassay as I run on the same 10" cut first on the back side and then on the front , 4 passes and have dropped the gadge so I can get a 50mm board , so we have a 20" board as normal will be 40 mm thick as standard

Great mill, but your head camera really made me dizzy within the first three minutes, I think someone else holding the camera or use a tripod.
