Favorite Bruce Lee line in the movie Enter The Dragon when the bully on the ship challenges him to a fight, and Bruce says sure, but not here, and points to a nearby island, and the man agrees. He helps the meathead into a smaller boat, then unties the rope, and the guy drifts away. He the says, "That's the art of fighting without fighting". Brilliant! Very ninja of him.
Oderus Maximus It's actually from a documented fight between two samurai way back when... the older samurai was tired of hearing this young braggart samurai trying to challenge and bully everyone on the boat he was traveling on.
PREM SADIA I think he mixed with some other stuff. First two moves are good. But rest may not be ideal. They want chill, fast, powerful at the same time. They normally use short range rather than long range.
Candace Lin Bruce Lee´s water metaphor basically means that you should manage to adapt yourself to every situation and fluid with it in a proactive way. Now, speaking specifically in a combat context, you shouldn´t be rigid and limit yourself to a certain way of techniques and "style" but instead you should go with the battle´s flow in order to overcome it, having a "No limit as a limit" mindset which makes you unpredictable hence more effective in a fight (And in life, overall). Of course you can be skillful and rely on what you have trained in, if that works for you, but always be open to many learning dynamics and experiences. Don´t get stuck with what your teacher, dojo master or whatever teaches you, go beyond that by yourself and learn by yourself. Water has no limits... Take Bruce´s wise quote as a philosophy of life. I´ve learnt more from Bruce Lee than from Jesus Christ. Greets!!!
He was already crazy skilled to begin with, too fast for cameras, and insanely strong asf but if Bruce Lee was still around and was able to train more and also train at a legit MMA camp while in UFC and better his already impressive stand up, have great wrestling and better his ground game he'd pretty much wreck just about everyone with only a VERY few being able to give him a challenge and have a possibility of beating him. idk why the guys above my comment think he'll get demolished as if he's nothing....
Ryan Masters yassss he will beat every but one time Bruce Lee said in a video that UFC is not for him UFC is the on his lead he will beat every one there
When people say he wouldn't survive UFC, it's really quite silly because you're imagining you'd pluck Bruce Lee out of history, and place him in a ring. When in reality, if he was born in this era, he'd train like any other UFC fighter and use whatever suits his style, he'd have the same nutrition awareness, the same modern training regimes, the same sparring routines, as any other modern fighters, so no, he wouldn't get destroyed, but he also wouldn't necessarily be peerless and own everyone, he'd just be another fighter, how good he might be is entirely speculative, maybe he could pull a Pacquiao and move through the most weight divisions but in UFC instead of boxing, he'd certainly have the determination to be great, and the showmanship to be an entertaining fighter, although I can't quite imagine him throwing bottles around at press conferences like a dickhead. All of that is missing the point of Bruce Lee, what sets him apart from everyone else wasn't his ability to kick sandbags around or his unverified street fights against goons, but his reform of Chinese martial arts and essentially destroying the mysticism that surrounds Kung Fu with something the resembles the scientific method. He also helped formulate the idea of mixed martial arts, so if plucking him out of history and have him lose a fight against a modern fighter means anything, then so does saying the Wright brothers sucked because modern planes would be better than theirs, it's irrelevant.
How to fight like Bruce Lee: Step 1 - Work on your form and technique until it is all second nature. Then forget about forms and techniques. Step 2 - Learn anything and everything. Then take what works. Forget the rest. Step 3 - Exercise and practice until you literally drop dead. Step 4 - Prosper?
simon brigole that's actually from the art of war, a two thousand yr old collection of strategies on the art of war, mistakenly attributed to Bruce and, as such, it's true meaning has been distorted. What it means to become water is to attack where weakest, kill the women and children, desecrate the tombs of the enemies dead and so on, thank you

How to fight like bas rutten! Give the mma, self defense, kyokushin, bouncer, and muay thai legend some love! I loved the videos you did with bas a while back shane, i noticed you like him alot too.
I love Bruce Lee. I have great respect for him and I always wonder how good of a fighter he would be today considering all the new forms of training that exist out there
no he wouldn't because he would practice the same moves as every other UFC fighter and apply them in the Octagon while keeping his insane speed, power and understanding of martial arts
Love it Shane! Do you think you could go over more famous fights or just a specific fighters strategies and mess ups? Point things out to us on what mistakes to avoid :)
Step behind side kick is definitely the most underestimated kick in mma. You wanna knock someone back like 20 feet or break some ribs? That kick is great. I wish more mma instructors would emphasize it.
True, it is a powerful kick, but when you step into it, you automatically telegraph it and it is easy to evade. However, if it's used as a counter attack (stop hit), then it can land so much easier. As your opponent blindly charges at you, he only has 'attack' on his mind, so as he is rushes in, you fire the kick out and it intercepts him in his tracks.
Xenon That's true. Like any technique, it's far from perfect. It is best used as an intercepting kick, but to be fair, that's true for a lot of kicks. As for the issue of telegraph, it does, but really only so much if you're used to seeing and countering it. In my opinion, step behind / skip side kick still doesn't telegraph as much as back leg round kicks -- which is probably the most popular kick in modernized martial arts. That kick is really more about angles and best used as low kicks for the most part. Lead leg front kicks are pretty good for limiting telegraph, and being a good stop kick, but they just don't have nearly as much force or accuracy as proper side kicks. I honestly wouldn't say the step telegraph is even the biggest weakness of the step side kick. I'd say it's the pivot chamber being a gamble that happens before you even throw the kick. If the kick is parried on the calf in close, you can leave the kicker's back really exposed turning their motion that prepares the kick against the kicker. Still all that said, it has a lot of power, great reach, surprisingly accurate, and is a harder to catch than many people would think compared to round kicks and front kicks.
Some really good points :) A little OT here, but I prefer to fight from long range as much as possible. The reason being (as you prob know), the further your opponent is from you, he has to move to you to attack you, which then opens him up to an interception. Also, the further he is away, your neurological / limbic system have more time to read / react to his moves. When it gets up close, that's when your brain has less time to react to a flurry of fast non-telegraphic punches / kicks, and this is generally why all fights - up close - end up a sloppy trade off (until someone lands a lucky punch) or ends up a grappling fest on the ground. Let him make the mistake of moving in, stop hit him, then immediately shift back into long range. I also watched a YT vid of some little Turkish guy fighting 4 attackers from long range. because he kept his distance, none of them could reach him and attack him from blind angles, and all of them ran into a stop hit and got KO'd in seconds.
Xenon I can definitely relate to that. Range is a main reason soldiers use guns today instead of swords, spears, and bows. One of the big things I mention to young martial artist when I teach them is that a real fight is going to be much more fast pace than the sparring they're used to. Sometimes reflexes only take us so far, but it definitely is easier to react to things that are farther away and also don't stress our peripheral vision as much. I'm also a bit more biased towards ranged fighting myself since my first martial art was Taekwondo, and that has a major influence on the MMA that I practice now. That said, I believe it always pays to be a well balanced martial artist whether it's long range to close range, flexibility to strength, strikes to grappling, 1 on 1 to fighting multiple opponents, in the ring to the street, or empty hand to weapons. My motto is it's better to be a jack of all trades than a master of 1. Even if you don't like a particular martial art system, at least you will have learned its weakness if it is used against you.
Yep, I do agree with all you said, and it shows that you are obviously a dedicated martial scientist. It's just that studying so many fights on YT, when someone fires a sucker punch from close range, it lands in a split second. I'm like, 'Damn, how the hell would you have the reaction time to block or evade that unless your hands were already up?' This is why I thought about the 'open palm' technique they use in the security industry (you might be familiar with it)... if someone approaches you in a verbally threatening manner, you put your hands up and face your palms towards them as if you are surrendering / negotiating, in a sort of, 'There, there, calm down, I don't want to fight' position. But what you're really doing is, you have your hands up to: keep him from invading your personal space any further; to block any punch; and to fire a non-telegraphic shot straight into his face if he wont negotiate a truce. The added benefit of this is, he thinks this means you're not going to fight, so he wont be prepared for a stop hit if he thinks you're a sitting duck.
Because it has to be fake, most of the techniques they use in WWE are too dangerous. It's a fucking nightmare to fight against those guys who are 6'5, over 100KG.
Yausing Chan It`s a promotion thing, they used to build up stars like Hulk Hogan, he shaped wrestling into a big industry so he had to win all his matches in his prime or his star would have faded, that`s how matches were decided, the biggest star always won. The person who could beat Hogan near his prime was the Ultimate Warrior because he was seen as the successor to the aging Hogan. If they had a real match it would look pathetic, they are not real wrestlers, they are more like stunt men!
The last one is something amazing. Special forces of many countries have used this kind of technics. It gives incredible force because of high speed. The weight of arm or knucles doesn't change, it's all about the speed. Bone-breaking style.
I tried the lop sao on one of my friends, and when he threw the first punch for me to block, I came half an inch from his ear. Extending fully, and I would have popped his ear drum. It WORKS!!! My favorite technique shown on the video is the scissor kick!
It is a proven fact that Bruce Leeroy reached the ultimate level, "The Glow". A feat that Bruce Lee never achieved before his death. Therefore Bruce Leeroy is the true Master.
great video on the legend & most influential martial artist of all time Shane :). i been waiting on ag fightlike video of Bruce Lee. I'm a huge fan & he one of my idols & I noticed the scissor kick sweep is a good way to immediately get a leg lock submission.
Dramatic Much? :D I'd love to see some breakdowns of the more unorthodox styles like wing chun, taichi, unusual boxing stances like the fighting irish one, etc. I love to mix it up with some strange techniques, change stances and throw something you don't expect and I'm sure a lot of other people do too
Watsup shane! I've always loved these series and I've recently started taking Muay Thai and Euro style Kickboxing classes on a regular basis and came across Samart Payakaroon. By what i'm gathering, this man was an Ali or Fedor of MT and he's a genius. Superb fighting IQ and blending of muay thai and boxing. Seeing as that is right up your ally , i'd love to see a Fight Like Samart! Keep the great work man, Kop Khun Khrap! haha
Yep.. I saw video where Bruce`s student performed it on manequin used for car accidents and it told that the punch would break all the bones where he hit, damage organs and the man would die.. btw sorry for bad english
Hard to say. Roy was bigger but Lee sparred with sammo hung, chuck norris and other big guys. If i recall correctly Lee won a high school boxing tournament and theres footage of him sparring with head gear so he definitely knew how to handle himself in a boxing match. Still, the fight would ideally be at middleweight ir a catchweight of 150 since Bruce rarely weighed more than a welterweight until late in life. Bruce advantages: -studied multiple arts -kicks (low attacks are a big weakness of orthodox boxers) -smaller target and very elusive which would make it harder to land a clean hit -had a solid ground game having studied jiu jitsu and trained with the gracies. Disadvantage: -short reach and height -less hands on professional experience. Roy advantages: -highly explosive power -height -wild unorthodox style that was hard to predict and counter -possibly better stamina since he could go 12 rounds Disadvantage: -glass jaw -no ground game On paper it looks like bruce's best option would be to either stay outside roy's range and harass him with low kicks, pokes, and be an elusive target. Or he could try to blitz and get inside for takedowns and use his ground game. Roy's reach, footwork, and speed would make either strategy difficult though but bruce had frightening coiled up power and roy didnt have the best chin so he'd always have a punchers chance. I think 6 times out of 10 Roy wins a decision or stops bruce late because he himself was also very hard to hit and could adjust to his opponent's pattern and style. As long as he avoids getting to the ground and plays it safe without being too cocky he could take it.
Donavan Monroe If you are in highschool in the USA they probably have a team in your school, so you just go there train with them and when you are good enough you will join the team. BAM amateur fighter. next
I'd say about 90% of this is inaccurate. for example, lop sao is not interception, it's trapping. the technique fir the one inch punch was wrong. the side kick wad wrong. this guy definately is a traditional martial artist. he definately did not take the time to properly understand jkd. still, nice video
Yeah, I was thinking the same things. Lop sau is basically hand trapping and the side kick he demonstrated looked like it needed some work on the form.
Why would he want to fight like an actor who never competed in a single tournament. Hes fake... Nobody in UFC uses Wing chung or jeet kun do or kunfu or any bullshit like that. Stupid
I love these moves I wish we would see them in a sparring match with them to see how and when you would use this effectively to truly get a full visualization on them. Any way love your videos keep up the good work
First & Second: Improvement needed for the initial interception prior to the punch and the kick respectively. As for Jeet Kune Do, Jeet actually stands for intercepting 截. Third & Fourth: Terrific! Fifth: Don't know so can't comment.
awesome man keep up! I am really your fan now, I probably looked through hundred vedios to learn new moves all of them were fake or wrong or untrained but I don't know how I got here but you got a real subscriber bro I am a karate ,ikidow, kick boxing, and body builder 🙆🙆😏and I mix those all moves and create amazing combos :) thanks
I love the stamp kick. It's a go to for me. Though I usually follow up with body shots and hooks to the head instead of a high roundhouse. Also I know this is a long shot but if you do historical ancient fighters, it would be amazing to see one with Fight Like Miyamoto Musashi.
Favorite Bruce Lee line in the movie Enter The Dragon when the bully on the ship challenges him to a fight, and Bruce says sure, but not here, and points to a nearby island, and the man agrees. Haha classic!
You should, man. That's my favorite part, and always will be! Brian.
Oderus Maximus It's actually from a documented fight between two samurai way back when... the older samurai was tired of hearing this young braggart samurai trying to challenge and bully everyone on the boat he was traveling on.
Cool, Is that in a book about samurai? If so please share the title. Thanks.
It was just from a tale from waaaaaay back when... Supposedly happened but we're talking the 15-1600's. I read about it in a book about Bushido.
Tbh the guy knows lots about Bruce lee, watching Bruce from when you were 3 is worth respect. 👌
Amen, I learned a lot just filming this video!

Brian Damage lol bruhh that's dark but cool
Brian Damage Was Bruce trying to pull the wool over peoples eyes or did he believe his own hype?
Bruce Lee studied fencing, and I feel that his sidekick is a lot like a leg based sword thrust, if that makes sense.
Bruce Lee's kicks came from savate which has fencing roots
山本一夫 He got his kicks everywhere, not just savate. Pretty sure he got the sidekick from karate.
I wish that Bruce Lee was alive today so we could hear his opinions on mma as he was one of the first people to combine different styles of martial arts.
They say the only reason Bruce Lee "Died" was because God needed a Body Guard.
Hi Jax! Make a collaboration with Shane!
JaxBlade actually he did so Chuck Norris could be born
He also trained with King Kai
+JaxBlade God should wait for Sly Stallone to die then LOL!

Careful with that scissor kick, Its banned in Judo for good reason.
judo is only grapling and trows not kicking
Scissor Kick is a throw. Its called Kani Basami in Judo. Check it out.
In which way is it dangerous ?
I'm not trying to be negative here, I'm not very knowledgeable about this takedown technique
So good for a real street fight then right?
If you are fighting a single opponent yeah. Don't wanna go to the floor vs mutiple attackers.
The last one is something amazing. Special forces of many countries have used this kind of technics. It gives incredible force because of high speed. The weight of arm or knucles doesn't change, it's all about the speed.
Bone-breaking style.
actually he was a martial artist with No style
Not at all
Arpan Sen Yeah, actually.
I tried the lop sao on one of my friends, and when he threw the first punch for me to block, I came half an inch from his ear. Extending fully, and I would have popped his ear drum. It WORKS!!! My favorite technique shown on the video is the scissor kick!
Do one on, Prince nassem or sugar Ray leonard?? +shanefazen
YES! I just suggested this like a week ago! Thanks Shane!
i can see it going viral :P
That would be ideal!
Omggg martialclub!!!!! Martialclub best channel ever

Puskar Rai roar
And now you've officially completed UA-cam for martial arts content.
Haha!
awesome video my favourite he's my idol Bruce lee
It would be great, if you make a how to fight like video of Golovkin and Eubank Jr.
nice, this guy really knows his stuff
It is a proven fact that Bruce Leeroy reached the ultimate level, "The Glow". A feat that Bruce Lee never achieved before his death. Therefore Bruce Leeroy is the true Master.
great video on the legend & most influential martial artist of all time Shane :). i been waiting on ag fightlike video of Bruce Lee. I'm a huge fan & he one of my idols & I noticed the scissor kick sweep is a good way to immediately get a leg lock submission.
Yes! Anderson Silva was actually submitted with a scissor kick sweep to heel hook.
***** yep :) and oh! He was? That I never knew lol. I seen some of Silva's fights but i didn't see that one
Fight Like: Rocky Balboa
Dramatic Much? :D I'd love to see some breakdowns of the more unorthodox styles like wing chun, taichi, unusual boxing stances like the fighting irish one, etc. I love to mix it up with some strange techniques, change stances and throw something you don't expect and I'm sure a lot of other people do too
Fight like Gennady Golovkin?
Thank You very much Shane waited very Long for this Video. 👍🏼
You got it, Bruce!
Do Wladimir Klitschko plzzzzzzzzzzzz
Noted!
He will have 1 signature move, it is called the hug
Watsup shane! I've always loved these series and I've recently started taking Muay Thai and Euro style Kickboxing classes on a regular basis and came across Samart Payakaroon. By what i'm gathering, this man was an Ali or Fedor of MT and he's a genius. Superb fighting IQ and blending of muay thai and boxing. Seeing as that is right up your ally , i'd love to see a Fight Like Samart!
Keep the great work man, Kop Khun Khrap! haha
That wasn' Lop Sao, that was Pak Da.
and a very poorly done one at that.
awesome vid as always!! cool to see more collaboration with martial club too 👍
Thank you! Yeah those guys have so much skill
Was the one inch punch actually that powerful?
That Guy yes, it isn't meant for fighting, it is meant for working on technique
The Chemistry Kid yeah I know it's not meant for fighting, but was he acting.
Yep.. I saw video where Bruce`s student performed it on manequin used for car accidents and it told that the punch would break all the bones where he hit, damage organs and the man would die.. btw sorry for bad english
It was that strong.
#Scurra thanks
Shane, please do a how to fight like Vasyl Lomachenko! This guy is just incredible!
Plz do Roy jones jr. ?
unless you're blessed with incredible catlike reflexes, timing, and explosive power you arent gonna be able to fight like him.
+Muaath Najib Lee`s reflexes were never tested against an opponent with great hand speed!
Mark Anthony i was responding to rick's comment about fightin like roy jones.
Muaath Najib I agree! Jones vs Lee?
Hard to say. Roy was bigger but Lee sparred with sammo hung, chuck norris and other big guys. If i recall correctly Lee won a high school boxing tournament and theres footage of him sparring with head gear so he definitely knew how to handle himself in a boxing match.
Still, the fight would ideally be at middleweight ir a catchweight of 150 since Bruce rarely weighed more than a welterweight until late in life.
Bruce advantages:
-studied multiple arts
-kicks (low attacks are a big weakness of orthodox boxers)
-smaller target and very elusive which would make it harder to land a clean hit
-had a solid ground game having studied jiu jitsu and trained with the gracies.
Disadvantage:
-short reach and height
-less hands on professional experience.
Roy advantages:
-highly explosive power
-height
-wild unorthodox style that was hard to predict and counter
-possibly better stamina since he could go 12 rounds
Disadvantage:
-glass jaw
-no ground game
On paper it looks like bruce's best option would be to either stay outside roy's range and harass him with low kicks, pokes, and be an elusive target.
Shane please make video about fighting like Melven Manhoaf
how to fight like naruto
we all be waiting for this
Shane can you reply
You got it!
Shane, do you know how to do amatuer wrestling?
That's what I do.
Your actually the reason I know to at least box now. So thanks for your help.
Donavan Monroe If you are in highschool in the USA they probably have a team in your school, so you just go there train with them and when you are good enough you will join the team. BAM amateur fighter. next
Finally the video I've been waiting for
I'd say about 90% of this is inaccurate. for example, lop sao is not interception, it's trapping. the technique fir the one inch punch was wrong. the side kick wad wrong. this guy definately is a traditional martial artist. he definately did not take the time to properly understand jkd. still, nice video
Yeah, I was thinking the same things.
Lop sau is basically hand trapping and the side kick he demonstrated looked like it needed some work on the form.
chairman mao? lamo
THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS SHANE!
in fact, u can not fight like bruce lee
Don't limit yourself ;)
:))))))
Why would he want to fight like an actor who never competed in a single tournament. Hes fake... Nobody in UFC uses Wing chung or jeet kun do or kunfu or any bullshit like that. Stupid
Full Blast screw you man bruce lee was strong as hell
Anderson Silva uses wing chun.
i learn so much from your channel
I like how Shane is selling those useless techniques 😂 😂 😂 but anyway die hard Bruce Lee fan..anything that makes you happy
Stepping side kick is useful as well.
what the f##k are you talking about?
Keyboard warrior spotted.
not really
Cung Le would use his almost like a jab. Effective if you could pull it off.
This video is actually useful, thanks for the video!
So you got someone from Martial Club, awesome!!
Best possible intro to bruce lee out there
I love these moves I wish we would see them in a sparring match with them to see how and when you would use this effectively to truly get a full visualization on them. Any way love your videos keep up the good work
soft power is a big part of what systema is based upon. im glad I found out its origin
I'm a huge fan , your videos help a lot. keep up the good work
Thank you Alex! You do the same.
waited so long for this
i live for these videos :D fightTIPS is life !!
Yessss!
Overall, an awesome video. Thanks for posting it!
Great stuff ! ! Daniel reminds me of Bolo Yeung
Good work man, keep up the great videos
Thank you!
Thank you I've been waiting for this video for a while lol
Cool video, telegraphing the side kick though ;)
Shane is so dramatic when he gets hit lol love it
First & Second: Improvement needed for the initial interception prior to the punch and the kick respectively. As for Jeet Kune Do, Jeet actually stands for intercepting 截.
Third & Fourth: Terrific!
Fifth: Don't know so can't comment.
Thanks Shane, great Video!!!!!!!
Even more iconic is his "woooaaaaah!"
Please do Golovkin sometime in the near future, Shane!
that lop Sao is classic bruce even used it in enter the dragon.
The stamp kick is the kick he did on Chuck Norris in The Way Of The Dragon. But with amazing speed.
awesome man keep up! I am really your fan now, I probably looked through hundred vedios to learn new moves all of them were fake or wrong or untrained but I don't know how I got here but you got a real subscriber bro
I am a karate ,ikidow, kick boxing, and body builder 🙆🙆😏and I mix those all moves and create amazing combos :) thanks
Thanks so much for the support, brotha!
Thanks so much for the support, brotha!
I love the stamp kick. It's a go to for me. Though I usually follow up with body shots and hooks to the head instead of a high roundhouse.
Also I know this is a long shot but if you do historical ancient fighters, it would be amazing to see one with Fight Like Miyamoto Musashi.
gr8 vid shane!!
I was surprised to see Daniam Mah from martial club here. I don't know why
