The Wave 2 is an amazing synth. There is so much versatility and depth of this synth, it takes a long while to dig in and figure it out. I love it
Rick Astley on top of Miles Davis? Now there's something I didn't expect to see today!
What has Rick do to with this demo, come to that Miles Davis.
Rick isn't in league with Miles musically, but he's practically a patron saint of UA-cam.
Miles Davis' keyboard player of today would definitely have had a Wave 2.
My wave2 and I just had our 5 week Nordaversary and we're still in love!
Gah - those Shine On You Crazy Diamond and Blade Runner 2049 patches are huge!
Jack, that’s beautiful! You can’t make me fall in love with another synth like that. I can’t/shouldn’t right now. Sigh. Lol. I haven’t bought a Nord yet, and I always thought I’d get the Stage first. This has me rethinking that though. Seriously though, awesome demo and beautiful playing man.
What an amazing sound. Absolutely love nord and these sounds are just amazing. The Wave 2 really is incredible. Great playing as always Jack :)
Headphones on and I finally get the Nord after not caring for it. it seems a fast way for an extra layer within a track that adds interest and atmospheric. I'm thinking intros and outros especially. For the players and keybed mashers like me.
Yes, I have plugin synths that can do more. Do I ever play them? No. Do I play my Nord synth? Every day.
modalmixture I’m the exact opposite .. I have 22 hardware synths from modern to the 80’s, do I play them .. no .. I play my iPad synths. It’s all good.
One thing what is better in hardware there is real knobs and such but sound wise in digital stuff like this software is way better. but even this is still really nice instrument based stuff what i heared.
I hear you brother.
Got NL4 and every day it's fresh new sounds.
Thank god it never ends :)
Amazing stuff. This takes me back to a kid in the early 2000's in my local music store. Korg Tritons, Yamaha Motif, can't forget the M1 either! Actually... this doesn't sound like it, just what I remember it sounding like hahaha. Technology sure is amazing!
Shadow Giratina's Evil Clone - was probably Motif at that time. Can relate tho.😋
@@xp50player Gah! Where's my head? the Motif8 is the one I remember the most. That's what I was trying to recall.
This sounds wonderful through my headphones. Thanks for another great vid :)
Early days of Tangerine Dream
Jack, this is amazing!
This sounded incredible!
Very impressive piece of kit. The 4 layers really set it apart from most. Plus they have the mod and pitch wheels to the left of the keyboard where they should be, not above it. My only real sticking point is the sticking point of all Nords, the price. I wonder what they cost in Sweden?
Same price as most places, assembled in Sweden, no big manufacturers
Nord really missed the mark in not having seamless transitions on this. I wanted to love it, but just not feasible for live play to be locked into one patch. Also wish they’d improve their sample loading. PITA to always connect to a computer to load samples. If it supported a USB drive or SD card, that would be killer.
Performance 1 and 2 could've well been part of one track, the second can be the part where you expect something exciting to happen next! By the way, all performances where played excellently and sounded fantastic! Happy Easter and stay well!
Jack you almost makes me cry with your beautiful sounds...
Yes, Brian, the last 5 mins are huge....great stuff Jack
Super plush top drawer sound machine, well done !
Awesome bro! Did you create that song or are from Nord?
Beautiful:)
Not gonna lie, I'd be up for about an hour of that.
Just a hour?
I didn't hear a single sound that I liked!
awesome synth,,,, BUT nothing that I don't already have.... Nord is the one synth i don't have.... I might have to do the stage.. Thank you for doing the video
Absolutely
The only thing putting me off is the keybed. While I’ll still stick with my Prophet X and XL I was always hoping Nord would come out with a Nord Wave 2 and I’m glad they did but it feels like it’s an instrument that doesn’t know what it wants to be. Like a stage piano trying to be a synth but not having a ton of modulation capabilities or perhaps a synth trying to cater to stage piano players rather than synthesists.
EverettDudgeon138 I sold my Prophet X and I have bought the Wave 2. I think they are both great synths. the px has bigger emphasis on samples and the wave 2 on VA, FM and samples in layers. It comes down to taste. Sadly I did not gel with either the synth engine in the px nor the sample software. I have not received my nord yet, so I can just hope...but it looks and sounds like a promising synth to my eyes and ears. The layering interface looks next level :-) ...and synth mania and true coockoo actually gave the keybed two thumbs up and a reason for players to buy it :) (I must add that I appreciated your tutorials on sound design on the px, Everett!)
Just take my money already
8:50 just sold this synth
Anderton's Anonymous Astley Admirers?
Hahaha
Whats the difference between this and the Nord Leads?
Can we download piano sounds from the library and use it for the Wave 2?
Yeah, gonna buy the jupiter x...
Is there a smooth transition when changing sounds ? And what about aftertouch ... (I think it's an A1 expanded with much better keys )
Aftertouch: yes
Seamless transition: No...
The only thing preventing a purchase from me is the 1gig of mem. They could've done better.
99% of complaints about Nord keyboards for at least the last 10 years have been about their extremely small memory sizes. It's 2020, at this point 1gig is an inexcusable joke.
Don't they use compression so you can fit more sounds in?
@@leenhennekam9906 yes they do. And their compression is actually very good. I`ve sampled several patches from my prophet 6 into my stage 3 (for live use) and is always surprised how small the finished file sizes are without compromising sound quality.
Maaaaan, now I want one. ugggg.
Interesting diddle technique on the bender.
Hello, I have such a question because on other programs of this type they cannot answer me, will the loaded sounds on the Nord Wave 2 work with the Norda Wave?
Hey Jack. Your quite familiar with a lot of Nord keyboards? How would I compare this with nord synths of the past? NL 4, NLa1, NL 2X?
Google!
Jack= man crush:p
Did you just?.........Rick Roll me?
Puzzled...why put a Rick astley Lp on display when Tangerine Dream, Vangelis, JM Jarre are fitting in with the vibe.
@UCSfQx-C6fPolSc_5Bwfsejg Yeah...a lot of pop music used synths/drum machines back in the 80s, so perhaps it was a nod to that...Weather Report would have been better than Miles (trumpet player) as Joe Zawinul was a synth player. EDIT the @ label is not my doing..weird youtube glitch?
Why do u always ware caps now? In the beginning you had that gorgeous head of wavy blonde hair!? What’s happening? You know wearing a cap all the time causes hair loss:)
muito massa esse nord wave 2
Is there any sequenzer?
Just get Omnisphere 2.6!
Yes. But it will not replace the nord any time soon.
@@theclaverman I'm wrestling with that. I have an OB6 and Juno 106. Debating whether to get a nord wave 2, hydrasynth, waldorf iridium, or just get a midi controller keyboard (Arturia maybe?) and Omnisphere.
was thinking of getting the Wave 2 to control Omnisphere 2.6(which i already have).
How would you rate Omnisphere's emulations of other synths?
@@FakeGlasses if you`re gigging I definately would go for the wave 2. If you`re mainly working in the studio I would maybe go for your other options. I currently have the stage 3 88 and the sequential prophet 6 myself wich i use live all the time. But a annoying problem with analog synthesizers is the way they cut off the sound when changing program. With the Wave 2 you could easily bring all your analog synthezisers to the stage in an much smaller footprint (by easily sampling them into the wave 2). The wave 2 is now definately on my to-buy-list. And don`t let «virtual-analog» affect your choice, the wave 2 sounds absolutely fantastic. -all the best
