Thanks for sharing. I like the sounds! I read a lot of 'negative' comments about this synth, people calling it weak or dull or not inspiring. For me this is the contrary, I love VA synths because of their vast polyphony and reliability. I really like my Nord Lead 4, Nord interfaces are designed to make sound design as easy and fun as possible and they are built to last. But after a few years the NL4 starts sounding the same a bit, it does not have a very broad sound spectrum. This new Wave 2 seems to counter that exact weakness of the NL4. For me this is a must buy! I still wish they would make an 8 part synth, like Novation did with the brilliant Supernova (2).
Nord is very much a player's instrument, the interface is just brillant and it almost always just works as you expect. It feels like quality all the way.
Reminds me a lot of Manfred Mann sounds! I absolutely LOVE the Sample Editor it comes with! A+!
9:40 This is a great sounding synth
If you could put the word "underwhelming" in a bright red metal case, it would have Nord's logo on it.
Please explain
I guess people mean it’s nothing particularly special. It looks lovely, and sounds good, but it doesn’t excel in anything and doesn’t really do much if anything that other synths out there can’t do. There’s nothing really wrong with that, and it’s priced really well to be honest.
would be nice to see & hear a comparition between Nord Wave2 and UDO Super6
Somehow they managed to make wavetables sound like a 1990's romper.
This! It doesn‘t sound bad, there‘s just nothing new about these bread & butter sounds.
How can you play keys with those nails? I constantly cut mine cause i can't bare the feel of them hitting the keys
One LFO per layer. LOL
Steve Hunt And?
Nice demo Jim! The Nord Wave 2 sounds very good.
At least someone liked it
Nice keyboard/synth. Unfortunately in 2020 it comes with ram memory of my 20 old computer. 1 gigabyte ram. Memory doesn't cost so much this days. guess it's not a matter of money but more to make sure its limited product so you'll buy the upgraded one in 2 years from now since it will have 1.5 gigabyte of ram
Yanivhm It’s more than the 60MB I had on my Blofeld though...I think the purpose of this board isn’t to play mega-piano libraries, but to tweak minor samples into new and fascinating sounds.
@@matszh well thats exactly the problem. You see, I don't like when manufacturers try to tell me what I need or how should I tweak my sounds. If it has upload sample capability then it should be practical. What exactly is the problem to put 4 or 8 gigabyte in it? That difficult? If you sell a product with high level label and price, I would appreciate to put in it more memory. And it's not only a Nord problem. Yamaha montage also has small ram, and so the new fantom x and other workstation synths (At least the modx cheap... ) This all for marketing reasons and not because they can't. They should Stop limit products in purpose. Its about time they start to listen to what the customers wants.
I’ve been enjoying disk streaming multi GB libraries on my Kronos for almost 9 years, and a variety of killer synth engines. These lower memory capacities feel like an outdated and unnecessary limitation.
"You see, I don't like when manufacturers try to tell me what I need or how should I tweak my sounds ... Its about time they start to listen to what the customers wants." go build your own keyboard pal ... oh right you can't .... nobody is forcing you to buy this
@@HazeAnderson That's right no one forcing me. And I won't buy it. Endless options of synths to buy make us able to make wise economic decisions. And unless you're a Nord employee or kind of masochist You should too. Good luck!
Such a cool part from 3:05 to 4:39👌😌
badass
gave me a couple of patch ideas, too
Does it have seamless patch transition?
@@sandkipper1 Yes indeed. Seamless patch transitions was first made available with the Nord Stage 3. I certainly hope that the Wave 2 has the same feature!
I'm also wondering how flexible the keyboard splitting feature will be.
Dynamic Voice Allocation (first introduced on the Kurzweil K1000 series) is unfortunately a no from those reporting at NAMM. Only synths I own that do it currently are Access Virus TI2 and Korg Kronos
It was confirmed it does NOT (
I think Jim could make a grapefruit even sound awesome lol.....during the actual playing, the volume is a little low on the sounds only vids imho by about 15% the end add will knock you out of your chair
I really want someone to compare it with a Waldorf Microwave. I've got the XT so if anyone could lend me a Nord Wave 2, I'm in!
Waldorfs wavetable synths m, especially the older models, have a very specific sound, so I’m sure they’ll sound quite different.
Pete Namlook style sounds
Perfect for me.
I don’t know who is demoing but I hear them skipping past really good stuff and spending time on the less exciting stuff...lol ... clever potential owner perhaps.
Nice.... (back to my moog and ppg)
The best 20lbs money can buy!
I just think Nord need to get better sound designers and product demonstrators. The only thing I’d change in this synth...synth action keys and maybe 49 keys. Make it more of a synth than just another stage piano structure.
49 octaves? That keyboard would be bit hard to fit into a car, truck. Hell, even in an average house you'll have a hard time getting a 49 octaves keyboard to fit in it. ;D
MacXpert74 lmao I thought the same thing. 😂
He meant 49 keys .....
Talia I think he knows 😯
MacXpert74 Fixed ;)
Oddly unimpressive.
Just make a software version that sounds good.
Not Sure why?
@@HotStrange uh, convenience?
Not Sure Hardware is way more satisfying and inspiring to play.
@@HotStrange whatever...
Weak.
Makes me love my NL1 & Dw8000 even more. Yawn
