This is in Korean. This is K-Pop's Taemin and he's a legend. There's no one like him. I love him! (BTW, he's known as K-Pop's MJ. However, to me this type of comparison would actually be limiting for him.) He's a dance GOD. Go down this road and you'll find it's a very enjoyable rabbit hole. My niece went to S. Korea to teach English in 2014, started sharing videos, and I've never been the same. I'm sure you'll have lots of people here sharing Taemin's history much more eloquently than I could. He debuted in 2008 (he was 14) with the Princes of K-Pop -- the group SHINee. Taemin is in SHINee, the super SM group SuperM, and he's one of the greatest solo artists I've ever had the pleasure of watching (and I'm a grandma). You caught him just as he's entering the military so he'll be gone for a couple of years. However, there's so much wonderful content out there you'll just be scratching the surface by the time he comes back. Thank you for reacting to him. Taemin is the youngest member of Shinee. A Korean K-Pop group idol which continuously set trends in Korea since 2008. They just been reunited last year after the 3 members enlistment. They released their comeback album "Don't Call Me" last February and it was then that I became their fan. I regret not following them earlier. I'm not really into K-Pop but after watching them perform, I'm now one of the Shawols (Shinee World). And now this.... Taemin....He's created his own genre. He doesn't just show his awesome dancing but also his beautiful voice...and with that expressive eyes...Wow... I don't know how to describe him anymore :) He's is simply the BEST!

Taemin is an exceptional artist, in my opinion he is the best soloist in Kpop (Korean Pop), but frankly his music is so artistic and so diverse it transcends the boundaries of this genre. This is Lee Taemin a LEGEND from the legendary group SHINee from SM since 2008, he had debuted in 3 Kpop generations, first with SHINee, then as a Solo Artist and with the super group Super M in 2019. Yep this is Taemin, he`s a Idol from South Korea, the music genre is Kpop ( Kpop is more of a umbrella term since Kpop has alot of different genres to offer, this song is more like up-tempo R&B ) Taemin made his debut as an Idol with the legendary Kpop Group Shinee back in 2008 under the Label SM Entertainment (one of the biggest Companies in South Korea), in 2014 he released his first solo album. In 2019 he made his debut in the group SuperM (a Group that consists of different Kpop Idols who are also under SM). Taemin is known for his amazing dancing skills and is often associated with MJ also in terms of style. Taemin himself even stated that one of his biggest role models is Michael Jackson, who was a great influence in Taemin choosing to become a dancer. This was actually his last Song/Album release before hes going to enlist into the military. Overall, Taemin is pretty unique in many aspects, style, dancing, singing etc. You should check out more of his stuff, he has some really good songs such as Idea, Criminal or Move. Taemin is a dancing king. He just ranked first in the top 10 male dancer in kpop of all times. He is the MJ of Asia like you said, but even he is inspired MJ, he has created his own style. What made this reaction great was how you don't know Taemin and you've never listened to Kpop so this is super authentic and shows how great of an artist Taemin is. I'm glad you reached to him. He's from Kpop or Korean pop boy groups called SHINee and he recently debuted in SuperM as well in 2019, and this is his recent solo release so it's different from what he does since he isn't known for rapping. Taemin is recognized as one of the top dancers in kpop, for good reason. no one can imitate Taemin, he’s otherworldly. He is a hard worker and is a very beloved artist. He is actually going to be enlisting in the army (Korean men have to serve at least two years before they turn 28) in the upcoming weeks so this is going to be his last release for a while :) He has a lot of music to check out and I hope you explore his music and other K-pop artist more, thanks again!!!

He's extremely popular in Japan having sold out entire arena's just for Him. He Debuted when he was only 15 and is only 27 now, but will be enlisting in the military as is mandatory for all Korean Men at the end of this month. Thanks for trying out Taemin's newest song! He's a phenomenal singer and the best dancer in Kpop according to many industry professionals (and IMO too lol). He is a solo artist from South Korea but is also a member of the legendary Kpop group SHINee as well as being a member of supergroup SuperM. If you want to see more of his songs, definitely check out the MVs for two other recent releases: "Criminal" and "Idea". Also, it's interesting you already noticed the Michael Jackson vibes! When he was a child he was inspired by Michael Jackson to begin dancing. He made his professional debut with SHINee when he was only 14. You can still see traces of MJ in some of his moves although by now he has really incorporated that inspiration into his own style. His solo debut in 2014 ("Danger") is very MJ-esque. Taemin is hugely influential in the Kpop industry, as he has inspired many young artists to become singers and dancers as well. Part of the reason for that is that he has a very unique musical style and is always experimenting with new sounds. He is never afraid to push the boundaries or challenge himself. And his live stages are amazing because as a performer his charisma is off the charts. His music videos are extremely artistic and he usually has many layers of meaning in both the lyrics and the visuals of his MVs as well. I hope you'll check out more of his music! He will be enlisting in the military on May 31 (in South Korea this is a mandatory requirement for all men) so we won't have any new music from him until November 2022 when he is released, but there are many years' worth of songs to recommend to you, so hopefully you'll stick around and discover more of Taemin! No artist in their sane mind at an absolute peak of their career would want to enlist and leave their fans for 1,5 year… But that’s a law and he won’t go against it. Fortunately his fan base is constantly growing and is very stable (I’ve never heard of anyone who got into Taemin and his music leaving him, basically if you TAEMin you never TAEMout!).

TAEMIN represents what cannot be precisely defined in the approach to gender and role play in the MV music video, and the choreography is so multidimensional and unpredictable that it is difficult to classify it into a specific genre. I see "Advice" as a continuation of the themes within Taemin's Never Gonna Dance Again trilogy -- "2 Kids," "Criminal" and "Idea." With "Criminal" and "Idea," Taemin talks about being involved in a toxic relationship -- not necessarily a romantic relationship, but a metaphor for his relationship with fame -- in which he agrees to be manipulated almost to the point of being destroyed in order to become the artist we see today. But in the end of "Idea" we see him become free from the box everyone wants to put him in and he comes to terms with his role as an idol. He has now formed his own "Idea" about himself and what it means to be an idol, etc. As Taemin explained during his VLive event for "Advice", "Advice" is like the end to the first chapter in his life, and the beginning of his second chapter, which will be after he completes his military service. (He will be enlisting May 30 and he will be on hiatus for the next 18 months as he serves his country.) The song seems to be his way of saying I am done caring to everyone who judged him and all those haters who spread rumours and misinformation about him. "Advice" is showing that he is now free and confident to be himself, breaking stereotypes and now only listening to himself. Taemin is just one of those performers that leaves you speechless every time he steps on stage. He was born to be a performer and that is one of the reasons why he has become known as the Korean Michael Jackson. That is also why, as one of the top two performers in the industry (Kai from EXO -- Taemin's best friend, who is also an SM Entertainment artist -- taking the other top spot), he was made a member of SuperM. Taemin is an Idol of Idols and a legend of legends. And the title of the industry's BEST dancer isn't just a fan's opinion but it's a widely agreed upon title bestowed on both Taemin and Kai by their peers and the industry as a whole. Taemin is one of the most popular solo artists, as well as the youngest member of the legendary Kpop group SHINee. He debuted as a solo artist in 2014. In "Advice" he's basically saying, "Stop trying to put me in a box, in which I'll never fit in." He is also speaking to everyone that says he's getting old, that he's just a Michael Jackson wanna be that doesn't sell a lot of albums because he tries too hard to be edgy, etc. He's rebelling against all those people who are constantly advising him to make more mainstream music or to follow the traditional Kpop idol style in order to boost his sales and his popularity. However, as Taemin is making clear in "Advice," that is not who he is and he will never be "normal" or "mainstream" and he is OK with that. In the scene where you see him covered in ink, I think that is supposed to be him showing everyone how he is no longer the "unstained," cute maknae everyone wants to think of him as. This song was specifically designed to not be like anything he has ever done before. He plays the piano, he raps, he shows off his falsetto notes, etc. which is different than what we often hear and see from him. He intentionally used this song to prove that he isn't one type of singer. People often think of Taemin as a sultry vocalist that sings in a breathy comfortable less dynamic style. So, with this song he wants to prove to everyone that he can be unpredictable and try new things. Yet again, you can't put him in a box or tell him who to be. Everything that Taemin's haters like to point out about him and say are reasons why he shouldn't be held to such high esteem, I find completely ridiculous. I don't think that anyone who actually knows him would ever say he has played it safe at anytime in his career. If you think he is only one dimensional, and that he is trying to be anything other than himself, then you really don't know Taemin. Everything he does is different, out there and definitely not safe. It's always uniquely Taemin, and he couldn't do it any other way. Also, because Taemin is a member of SHINee, none of his songs are ever like anything you have every heard or seen before from him. It will always have a new beat, style and sound. As SM's experimental boy group, SHINee is meant to be the first and they are expected to set the trend, and that includes the members' solo work. With every new song Taemin produces it's expected to be different than the last, so you will never hear the same style or sound from him in any of his songs, even on the same album, and yet, it still will be uniquely Taemin-like. Which is another example of how you can never put him in a box or expect anything from him. :D Another theme in "Advice" is about how Taemin is embracing his androgynous side -- but on his own terms -- which I think is a continuation of the message in his "Move" MV. Early in his career when Taemin was growing up in SHINee he was known for his feminine look. The industry thought it was novel and cute to dress Taemin up as a girl and play up his feminine features. It took him a long time to accept that he was known for his looks and to come to terms with the fact that everyone thought of him as a "pretty boy," etc. So, at this point in his career he is making a statement about how he has decided to be himself and no longer care what people think. Music is art and art has no gender. So, that is why in "Advice" you see him wearing hair extensions, fishnets and women's Supreme sports wear, etc. But if you notice, his choreography is very fast paced and sharp which is hyper masculine -- a complete contrast to the "feminine" image people want to give him. You also see him wearing makeup, but it's smeared on his face, as if to say, "people may think of me as a 'Pretty Boy,' but I don't care about looking pretty." In the lyrics where he says "floppy" I think he's talking about knowing about or hearing firsthand the things people are saying about him, but he is choosing not to pay attention to them because what they're saying is flopping or doesn't hold any weight or have any substance, etc. "Advice" just proves that everytime people try to put Taemin in a box he destroys it and keeps coming back with something more unique and never seen before. I interpret the "One (piece of ) Advice" he is talking about in the lyrics as a reference to the advice he keeps being given about being more mainstream, but he's saying, "stop trying to make me conform to the image you have in your head of who I should be and what I should do" -- in other words, take all that time and effort you have been using to come up with ways to talk about how I don't fit in, etc. and put it to better use. "Follow my own advice" and do something original for once. As a devout Catholic, Taemin often uses Biblical references and metaphors in his songs and MVs. And the crucifixion pose at the end of "Advice" is sort of a signature pose for him. I interpret it to be like he is saying, "And that is the end, this is my final word, take it or leave it, but don't doubt me. I have gave it my all and laid everything I had out there for you," etc. If you are impressed with Taemin's dancing in this MVs, just wait until you see him dance live. You will be even more blown away. As I said, Taemin is on a whole other level. Taemin's choreography is very much influenced by him. Although he has input in almost everything he does, he has choreographers that come up with the choreography for most of his dances and he then infuses it with his own ideas and style and makes it uniquely his. The way Taemin dances is just the way he moves. His movements are effortless. If you watch Taemin dance more, you will see that no matter who choreographs the dance, it will always be very Taemin-like. Taemin's style of dance can't be defined. As he has said, he has worked his entire career to create a style of dance that is unlike anything in the Kpop industry. And I would argue that that now extends to the entire industry of dance. Taemin started out as a self-taught popper and locker without any dance training, and, even then, as a trainee it was clear his skills as a dancer went far beyond the average dancer. Over the years, as you see with "Advice," he has infused those popping and locking skills into his now more contemporary style of dance. But, when it comes to dancing, he can do it all and there is no one better at it than him. And, as the youngest member of SHINee, Taemin's talents are one reason why SHINee are one of the top groups in the industry and why they have such legendary status. SHINee is made up of some of the absolute best singers, dancers and performers in the entire industry. With 13 years since their debut, they still command one of the top spots. When Taemin debuted in 2008 as part of SHINee he was only 14 years old and, yet, he was already known as one of the best dancers in the industry, and he has only gotten more magnificent over the years. Now after 13 years Taemin is still one of the youngest in many Kpop circles -- he is only 27 -- and, yet, he often has the most seniority and experience. He is so well respected that everyone looks up to him. SHINee are a 5 member group that is known for their live vocals and amazing dancing. They are known as CD-quality singers because they sound just as good live, if not better, than they do recorded. SHINee always sings live. The ONLY thing they are not good at is lip syncing so they avoid it at all costs, so when you hear SHINee singing 95% of the time it will be live. They have trained their entire career to be able to sing live for 3+ hours straight and always sound flawless while performing extremely complex choreography the whole time. SHINee is the group that really set the standard when it comes to live performances. It's literally known as the SHINee standard and it's what all other groups work to reach.

Welcome to the world of TPop!! I hope you will eventually learn about Taemin's group SHINee as they are the foundation of who Taemin is as an artist. When I learned about them it took me about a year to get through their entire discography! They are known as kings of live performances from their powerful vocals, complex choreo and a stage presence that is off the chart. Taemin is also known for his extreme duality as in his off-stage personality is very different from the dark, intense and dramatic persona he usually portrays in his music. He is actually very sweet, shy, humble and extremely hilarious along with the other SHINee members (not to mention they are also all very intelligent and accomplished in other areas outside of music). Many in the Kpop industry regard them as one of the most hardworking and kindest groups out there. Thanks for reacting to the multi-talented, most extroverted introvert, piano genius, gender-bending, dancing legend -- Lee Taemin! There are so many suggestions for other songs. The usual "can't miss" ones (Criminal, Idea, Want, Move) are all bops. But I'd also recommend Taemin's slower songs and ballads -- Clockwork, Soldier, Be Your Enemy are great. Taemin's tenor voice is angelic. For his early stuff, I love Ace. As others said, you've started in on Kpop at the top.

Taemin’s discography contains a lot of experimental sound but as he once said, once you become a fan, you’ll never leave. Loved that you called him the Asian Michael Jackson because he is often compared to MJ! He’s a soloist but he’s also in two groups: SHINee and SuperM. Taemin is art in human form. It's soooo hard to recommend any 1 song from him because they are all freaking amazing and just iconic. ALL of his music videos are iconic, his choreography may not look complex it some but it's all really difficult to do because he focus on small movements that require immense body control and isolation. This is in Korean. This is K-Pop's Taemin and he's a legend. There's no one like him. I love him! (BTW, he's known as K-Pop's MJ. However, to me this type of comparison would actually be limiting for him.) He's a dance GOD. Go down this road and you'll find it's a very enjoyable rabbit hole. My niece went to S. Korea to teach English in 2014, started sharing videos, and I've never been the same. I'm sure you'll have lots of people here sharing Taemin's history much more eloquently than I could. He debuted in 2008 (he was 14) with the Princes of K-Pop -- the group SHINee. Taemin is in SHINee, the super SM group SuperM, and he's one of the greatest solo artists I've ever had the pleasure of watching (and I'm a grandma). You caught him just as he's entering the military so he'll be gone for a couple of years. Taemin is the youngest member of Shinee. A Korean K-Pop group idol which continuously set trends in Korea since 2008. They just been reunited last year after the 3 members enlistment. They released their comeback album "Don't Call Me" last February and it was then that I became their fan. I regret not following them earlier. I'm not really into K-Pop but after watching them perform, I'm now one of the Shawols (Shinee World). And now this.... Taemin....He's created his own genre. He doesn't just show his awesome dancing but also his beautiful voice...and with that expressive eyes...Wow... I don't know how to describe him anymore :) He's is simply the BEST!

Taemin is an exceptional artist, in my opinion he is the best soloist in Kpop (Korean Pop), but frankly his music is so artistic and so diverse it transcends the boundaries of this genre. Yep this is Taemin, he`s a Idol from South Korea, the music genre is Kpop ( Kpop is more of a umbrella term since Kpop has alot of different genres to offer, this song is more like up-tempo R&B ) Taemin made his debut as an Idol with the legendary Kpop Group Shinee back in 2008 under the Label SM Entertainment (one of the biggest Companies in South Korea), in 2014 he released his first solo album. In 2019 he made his debut in the group SuperM (a Group that consists of different Kpop Idols who are also under SM). Taemin is known for his amazing dancing skills and is often associated with MJ also in terms of style. Taemin himself even stated that one of his biggest role models is Michael Jackson, who was a great influence in Taemin choosing to become a dancer. This was actually his last Song/Album release before hes going to enlist into the military. Overall, Taemin is pretty unique in many aspects, style, dancing, singing etc.

He is a hard worker and is a very beloved artist. Taemin is AMAZING, He's in 2 different groups (Shinee, and Super M - SM's Super group which comprises of members form 4 different groups basically the best of the best which has earned them the nick name The Avengers of Kpop & has been recognized by Marvel as well) and he has an entire solo career. He's extremely popular in Japan having sold out entire arena's just for Him. He Debuted when he was only 15 and is only 27 now, but will be enlisting in the military as is mandatory for all Korean Men at the end of this month.
Taemin is famous for his gender neutral dancing, since dancing itself does not have genders it is an artform. He takes elements from both in what would be considered both feminine and Masculine forms and molds it to create his own style. and it is very much his own style which atleast for me just sticks with you because of its uniqueness

Thanks for trying out Taemin's newest song! He's a phenomenal singer and the best dancer in Kpop according to many industry professionals (and IMO too lol). He is a solo artist from South Korea but is also a member of the legendary Kpop group SHINee as well as being a member of supergroup SuperM. If you want to see more of his songs, definitely check out the MVs for two other recent releases: "Criminal" and "Idea".
Also, it's interesting you already noticed the Michael Jackson vibes! When he was a child he was inspired by Michael Jackson to begin dancing. He made his professional debut with SHINee when he was only 14. You can still see traces of MJ in some of his moves although by now he has really incorporated that inspiration into his own style. His solo debut in 2014 ("Danger") is very MJ-esque.
Taemin is hugely influential in the Kpop industry, as he has inspired many young artists to become singers and dancers as well. Part of the reason for that is that he has a very unique musical style and is always experimenting with new sounds. He is never afraid to push the boundaries or challenge himself. And his live stages are amazing because as a performer his charisma is off the charts. His music videos are extremely artistic and he usually has many layers of meaning in both the lyrics and the visuals of his MVs as well.
I hope you'll check out more of his music! He will be enlisting in the military on May 31 (in South Korea this is a mandatory requirement for all men) so we won't have any new music from him until November 2022 when he is released, but there are many years' worth of songs to recommend to you, so hopefully you'll stick around and discover more of Taemin! He definitely deserves to be known worldwide. IMO he is a level of artist that is only seen maybe once or twice a generation.

No artist in their sane mind at an absolute peak of their career would want to enlist and leave their fans for 1,5 year… But that’s a law and he won’t go against it. Fortunately his fan base is constantly growing and is very stable (I’ve never heard of anyone who got into Taemin and his music leaving him, basically if you TAEMin you never TAEMout!).

I see "Advice" as a continuation of the themes within Taemin's Never Gonna Dance Again trilogy -- "2 Kids," "Criminal" and "Idea." With "Criminal" and "Idea," Taemin talks about being involved in a toxic relationship -- not necessarily a romantic relationship, but a metaphor for his relationship with fame -- in which he agrees to be manipulated almost to the point of being destroyed in order to become the artist we see today. But in the end of "Idea" we see him become free from the box everyone wants to put him in and he comes to terms with his role as an idol. He has now formed his own "Idea" about himself and what it means to be an idol, etc.
As Taemin explained during his VLive event for "Advice", "Advice" is like the end to the first chapter in his life, and the beginning of his second chapter, which will be after he completes his military service. (He will be enlisting May 30 and he will be on hiatus for the next 18 months as he serves his country.) The song seems to be his way of saying I am done caring to everyone who judged him and all those haters who spread rumours and misinformation about him. "Advice" is showing that he is now free and confident to be himself, breaking stereotypes and now only listening to himself.
Taemin is just one of those performers that leaves you speechless every time he steps on stage. He was born to be a performer and that is one of the reasons why he has become known as the Korean Michael Jackson. That is also why, as one of the top two performers in the industry (Kai from EXO -- Taemin's best friend, who is also an SM Entertainment artist -- taking the other top spot), he was made a member of SuperM. Taemin is an Idol of Idols and a legend of legends.
And the title of the industry's BEST dancer isn't just a fan's opinion but it's a widely agreed upon title bestowed on both Taemin and Kai by their peers and the industry as a whole.
Taemin is one of the most popular solo artists, as well as the youngest member of the legendary Kpop group SHINee. He debuted as a solo artist in 2014.
In "Advice" he's basically saying, "Stop trying to put me in a box, in which I'll never fit in." He is also speaking to everyone that says he's getting old, that he's just a Michael Jackson wanna be that doesn't sell a lot of albums because he tries too hard to be edgy, etc. He's rebelling against all those people who are constantly advising him to make more mainstream music or to follow the traditional Kpop idol style in order to boost his sales and his popularity. However, as Taemin is making clear in "Advice," that is not who he is and he will never be "normal" or "mainstream" and he is OK with that.
In the scene where you see him covered in ink, I think that is supposed to be him showing everyone how he is no longer the "unstained," cute maknae everyone wants to think of him as.
This song was specifically designed to not be like anything he has ever done before. He plays the piano, he raps, he shows off his falsetto notes, etc. which is different than what we often hear and see from him. He intentionally used this song to prove that he isn't one type of singer. People often think of Taemin as a sultry vocalist that sings in a breathy comfortable less dynamic style. So, with this song he wants to prove to everyone that he can be unpredictable and try new things. Yet again, you can't put him in a box or tell him who to be.
Everything that Taemin's haters like to point out about him and say are reasons why he shouldn't be held to such high esteem, I find completely ridiculous. I don't think that anyone who actually knows him would ever say he has played it safe at anytime in his career. If you think he is only one dimensional, and that he is trying to be anything other than himself, then you really don't know Taemin. Everything he does is different, out there and definitely not safe. It's always uniquely Taemin, and he couldn't do it any other way.
Also, because Taemin is a member of SHINee, none of his songs are ever like anything you have every heard or seen before from him. It will always have a new beat, style and sound. As SM's experimental boy group, SHINee is meant to be the first and they are expected to set the trend, and that includes the members' solo work. With every new song Taemin produces it's expected to be different than the last, so you will never hear the same style or sound from him in any of his songs, even on the same album, and yet, it still will be uniquely Taemin-like. Another theme in "Advice" is about how Taemin is embracing his androgynous side -- but on his own terms -- which I think is a continuation of the message in his "Move" MV. Early in his career when Taemin was growing up in SHINee he was known for his feminine look. The industry thought it was novel and cute to dress Taemin up as a girl and play up his feminine features. It took him a long time to accept that he was known for his looks and to come to terms with the fact that everyone thought of him as a "pretty boy," etc. So, at this point in his career he is making a statement about how he has decided to be himself and no longer care what people think. Music is art and art has no gender. So, that is why in "Advice" you see him wearing hair extensions, fishnets and women's Supreme sports wear, etc. But if you notice, his choreography is very fast paced and sharp which is hyper masculine -- a complete contrast to the "feminine" image people want to give him. You also see him wearing makeup, but it's smeared on his face, as if to say, "people may think of me as a 'Pretty Boy,' but I don't care about looking pretty."
In the lyrics where he says "floppy" I think he's talking about knowing about or hearing firsthand the things people are saying about him, but he is choosing not to pay attention to them because what they're saying is flopping or doesn't hold any weight or have any substance, etc. "Advice" just proves that everytime people try to put Taemin in a box he destroys it and keeps coming back with something more unique and never seen before.
I interpret the "One (piece of ) Advice" he is talking about in the lyrics as a reference to the advice he keeps being given about being more mainstream, but he's saying, "stop trying to make me conform to the image you have in your head of who I should be and what I should do" -- in other words, take all that time and effort you have been using to come up with ways to talk about how I don't fit in, etc. and put it to better use. "Follow my own advice" and do something original for once.
As a devout Catholic, Taemin often uses Biblical references and metaphors in his songs and MVs. And the crucifixion pose at the end of "Advice" is sort of a signature pose for him. I interpret it to be like he is saying, "And that is the end, this is my final word, take it or leave it, but don't doubt me. I have gave it my all and laid everything I had out there for you," etc.
If you are impressed with Taemin's dancing in this MVs, just wait until you see him dance live. You will be even more blown away. As I said, Taemin is on a whole other level.
Taemin's choreography is very much influenced by him. Although he has input in almost everything he does, he has choreographers that come up with the choreography for most of his dances and he then infuses it with his own ideas and style and makes it uniquely his. The way Taemin dances is just the way he moves. His movements are effortless. If you watch Taemin dance more, you will see that no matter who choreographs the dance, it will always be very Taemin-like.
Taemin's style of dance can't be defined. As he has said, he has worked his entire career to create a style of dance that is unlike anything in the Kpop industry. And I would argue that that now extends to the entire industry of dance. Taemin started out as a self-taught popper and locker without any dance training, and, even then, as a trainee it was clear his skills as a dancer went far beyond the average dancer. Over the years, as you see with "Advice," he has infused those popping and locking skills into his now more contemporary style of dance. But, when it comes to dancing, he can do it all and there is no one better at it than him.
And, as the youngest member of SHINee, Taemin's talents are one reason why SHINee are one of the top groups in the industry and why they have such legendary status. SHINee is made up of some of the absolute best singers, dancers and performers in the entire industry. With 13 years since their debut, they still command one of the top spots. When Taemin debuted in 2008 as part of SHINee he was only 14 years old and, yet, he was already known as one of the best dancers in the industry, and he has only gotten more magnificent over the years.
Now after 13 years Taemin is still one of the youngest in many Kpop circles -- he is only 27 -- and, yet, he often has the most seniority and experience. He is so well respected that everyone looks up to him.
SHINee are a 5 member group that is known for their live vocals and amazing dancing. They are known as CD-quality singers because they sound just as good live, if not better, than they do recorded. SHINee always sings live. The ONLY thing they are not good at is lip syncing so they avoid it at all costs, so when you hear SHINee singing 95% of the time it will be live. They have trained their entire career to be able to sing live for 3+ hours straight and always sound flawless while performing extremely complex choreography the whole time. SHINee is the group that really set the standard when it comes to live performances. It's literally known as the SHINee standard and it's what all other groups work to reach.

Welcome to the world of TPop!! I hope you will eventually learn about Taemin's group SHINee as they are the foundation of who Taemin is as an artist. When I learned about them it took me about a year to get through their entire discography! They are known as kings of live performances from their powerful vocals, complex choreo and a stage presence that is off the chart. Taemin is also known for his extreme duality as in his off-stage personality is very different from the dark, intense and dramatic persona he usually portrays in his music. He is actually very sweet, shy, humble and extremely hilarious along with the other SHINee members (not to mention they are also all very intelligent and accomplished in other areas outside of music). Many in the Kpop industry regard them as one of the most hardworking and kindest groups out there. Shawols (short for SHINee World) are known to be a very nice and peaceful fandom as they are a reflection of the SHINee members. Good luck on your listening journey!

Thanks for reacting to the multi-talented, most extroverted introvert, piano genius, gender-bending, dancing legend -- Lee Taemin! There are so many suggestions for other songs. The usual "can't miss" ones (Criminal, Idea, Want, Move) are all bops. But I'd also recommend Taemin's slower songs and ballads -- Clockwork, Soldier, Be Your Enemy are great. Taemin's tenor voice is angelic. For his early stuff, I love Ace. As others said, you've started in on Kpop at the top.

I’m so glad you were introduced to k-pop through Taemin and with Advice too!! When I first heard Advice, i knew it would be a song played on repeat. Taemin’s discography contains a lot of experimental sound but as he once said, once you become a fan, you’ll never leave. Loved that you called him the Asian Michael Jackson because he is often compared to MJ! He’s a soloist but he’s also in two groups: SHINee and SuperM.
Check out the rest of his songs (Criminal, Idea, Famous), SHINee songs (Dont Call Me, View, Everybody, Replay), and SuperM songs (Tiger Inside, I Can’t Stand The Rain). I only listed a few popular ones but seriously his entire discography (including group songs) is so diverse and incredible.

Taemin is art in human form. It's soooo hard to recommend any 1 song from him because they are all freaking amazing and just iconic. ALL of his music videos are iconic, his choreography may not look complex it some but it's all really difficult to do because he focus on small movements that require immense body control and isolation. He's literally just insanely good. His style is very unique to him. Anyways, welcome to the world of kpop and congrats on discovering the legend that is Lee Taemin. My top 3 songs are: Criminal, Want, and Pinocchio but they are all amazing.
