    My initial thought was possibly two coat hangers could do a good job of hooking on, but then getting unhooked would require more skill and risk...
    Maybe a servo or small solenoid could rotate a small aluminum stick 90° and act as a latch combined with the coat hangers. So in case of like really high winds the drone has higher survivability.
    The design of having to fling the drone up into the power line seems more difficult to achieve than say two hooks on the top of the drone...

    great idea and design! any engineering effort will require some trial and error. I second the 'big net' idea.
