+Jerry Lawson Hi Jerry, I saw The Persuasions in Jersey City, NJ..1967, at an Acappella show, I think Stan Krause was the producer. This was before you recorded and they introduced you as a new group on the scene. That night, my friends and I agreed that we witnessed the greatest vocal group that we ever heard. I just wanted to say.. thank you for all your recordings...and .."keep on keepin' on !" A fan.
hi there Jerry....just want to thank you for all the joy your music has brought me over the years. I first heard you in the early 70s, and still listen to you for inspiration!
Just found this. Kinda sad nobody's commented on it since Jerry himself. He passed away in '19. Jerry and Jimmy and Toubo and Sweet Joe have all left us. Keep on keeping on, Jayotis!!
Wish I could sing like this! Love it...and this was several generations before my time, but good soul music is good for the soul...you can just feel it!
No the bow tie is my husband . Lead singer, arranger and producer of The Persuasions for 40 years and 23 albums. Their first album was released on Frank Zappa's label in 1970. Jerry left the group in 2003. Then he collaborated with Talk of The Town.(Jerry Lawson and Talk of The Town released one a cappella CD in 2007. And in 2015 Jerry Lawson made his debut as a solo artist with some of Nashville's top rated musicians on the Red Beet label.

Jerry Lawson, I'm a big fan of your whole body of work with the Persuasions and Talk of the Town. Thank you sir.
Jerry Lawson Was The Heat And Soul Of The Persuasions
JERRY LAWSON WAS THE HEART AND SOUL OF THE PERSUASIONS IS WHAT I MEANT TO SAY
They don’t sing like this no more. Black singers don’t have that soul no more 😭😩
Singers today couldn’t do acapella to save their life.
Truly a Lost Art..,
RIP Jerry Lawson, one of the greats.

They put out 23 albums between 1970 and 2003
too bad this one was never recorded in studio with a higher quality, this is one of their great ones !
This is greatness !!! Definitely a diamond in the rough
Genius, pure and simple. A history lesson and a reminder of the power that lies in a cappella when approached with heart.
Wow! Just awesome!
Brilliant video.
Have a soulful evening V
Like I Said These Guys Didn't Need No Damm Band
Mkie Douglas was cool!
Another excellent post! Another new discovery you've turned me on to. (Wow, Mike Douglas was pretty hip!)
