since the first time I ever heard these guys singing I just fell in love with their voices , they reminded me of my dad and his 6 brothers who sang acappella every Sunday after we finished dinner . It was the most enjoyable part of my youth, hearing that harmony . And so to hear the Persuasions sing with that perfect harmony is just the best thing I could ever ask for. thank you so much.
My brothers I grew up with in Bmore used to sing all songs on literally "the street corner" and people would not open their windows to tell us to stop and go away, but would say things like , "sing that song baby" and we would as best we could sing their favorite Persuasions songs, Buffalo Solider, Good Times, etc., man I sure do miss my brothers Big Sam, and Boobe aka 357, time moves on but the memories are surely cherished. Thank you to those who put up with our "acapella renderings, hope we gave you a bit of peace during a trying time of uncertainty and evolution to our cause and the rebirth of our heritage in the 70's.
I heard my brother playing this album when he came home from college in the early 70 or 71. I was 12 or 13 at that time and still listening to it right now ❤️
Incredible harmonies. I can't believe I had not known of The Persuasions before a video of a few years ago in performance with the Bare Naked Ladies. What a joy to listen to these gentlemen, they make you just stop and close your eyes and see their harmony float around in your head.
If anyone has seen the two brothers famous on UA-cam for filming their reaction to old music, that's how my little brother and I were when we heard this album. Pops used to drop the musical "science" on his young scribes. I Love him for that. Now I drop the science on my two young scribes. Thank Dad.
They made a rare visit to the UK in the mid 90's to record advertising for chocolates and did only one show which was at the Jazz Cafe in London. I was front and centre against the low stage and it has to be in my top three gigs of all time. Hung around afterwards and met them all so extra thrills there. Topped with their collective DickVanDyke impressions of my accent. Brilliant night
@@harolddiaz1224 I'll look forward to it. Is this stuff available digitally anywhere? I'd like to be able to quickly and easily download the whole catalogue.
@@pangea6090 Not that I know of, unfortunately. The other albums I have are on cassette and I want to make sure I get a good quality rip of them before I post. I will seriously consider posting some albums on Internet Archive in near future for download (that would be good place to check for downloadable material, I haven't done that yet) as long as no copyright issues pop up. But there is a good bit of stream able stuff out there. As a big Persuasions fan, two favorites I recommend to ppl are the Zappa album("Frankly-A-Capella") and the Grateful Dead album. Anyway, sorry bout no downloads I'm aware of man.
Harold Diaz please do! I remember my father playing this when I was a little boy. I’m 47 now and I feel this music down in my soul. Powerful! Got me missing times that I wasn’t even around for...lol.
I remember the days when every neighborhood had their singers...and the hallway between buildings at Germantown High School where the doo wop could be found...
I heard you talking to me in my sleep. I found the picture and yes I see. There is only one other man with a chest like that. I call him BABY too. He sends me pretty songs just like you used to do. Still I sit and wait and wait. Am I waiting on a LOVE that ain't gonna come. I love music spending time listening to love songs. I will take the love if it ain't nothing more than just a song. It's better than nothing at all.

Dude this is awesome. God Bless you for sharing this. I used the Buffaloe Soldier single as an intro to a drill team demonstration in 1994.

That's how we learn how to sing in the later years. By listening to the persuasions L.P street corner symphony.
I saw them in Philly, unforgettable event..they even invited the audience to sing on stage..plenty herb smoked that night.
Isn’t that great! Matisyahu did that at a show in Dallas and I felt very fortunate to be there. Plenty of herb smoked that night too 😅
1977 13 years old, When i first introduced to the Persuasions. Been a fan ever since 👍🏻
