Choosing Authenticity: How One Lesbian Risked It All to Be Themselves & Thrived

- Growing up in Neenah, Wisconsin, Sammi Price didn’t really see others like themselves. Until one day, that is, when they stumbled upon the poetry of a queer artist by the name of Andrea Gibson. Finally seeing herself in art inspired Sammi to boldly share their truth through spoken word. Little by little, their queerness crept out until one moment where they were given the choice of being authentic or being marketable. Fortunately for Sammi - and for others that would see themselves in their art - Sammi ultimately chose the less traveled and more queer path, and having it both ways: a successful career while being openly queer.

What an incredibly soothing voice. I love your story and I’m very happy for you.
This was an AWESOME story told with grace and class.💙💙💙💙💙👍🏽
This woman is delightful! I would love to have a cup of coffee with her and chat. ❤
Yes, delightful is a great word to describe Sammi's spirit. This is a wonderfully inspirational message of hope. Thank you for sharing with us! 💖 🌈
As a trans girl, I can relate but my feelings were years younger (age 8). I liked males and I knew I was meant to be female. Sadly, I come from a conservative Cuban-Spanish (Spain) family, and in FL, we didn't talk about LGBTQ. I'm glad I fled in my 20s. Feels good to be free and happy.
I'm glad you were able to get out of that environment and live as yourself freely❤
