    For that I used
    X = density of the metal
    Xkg/m^3
    ----- = .7
    13’600 kg/m^3
    Xkg/m^3 = (.7) (13’600 kg/m^3)
    Is that correct?

    • @user-rf9xp8wh5m

    Where did you get the 1, that you subtracted to the fraction of iceberg beneath under the surface of the water?

    • @srideviselvakumar3122
      @srideviselvakumar3122 5 років тому +2

      cuz the total of iceberg is 1 and a part of it(that is above) is smaller and a decimal
      it is kinda like finding out how many pieces did u get of one pie?
      you gotta take the total as 1 and the part taken by u is 1/4 or 0.25
      Hope you understood!👍👍👍

    A uniform cylindrical block of wood floats in water with one-third of its height above the water level, in a liquid of relative density 0.8, what fraction of its height will be above the liquid level?

  • @TS-vh9rs
    @TS-vh9rs 4 роки тому +2

    Does partially submerged and floating has a difference
    I'm confused cuz Archimedes priciple says upthrust of a partially submerged object= weight of the liquid displaced but law of flotation says upthrst =weight of the object

    • @somethingabouttech
      @somethingabouttech 3 роки тому +3

      Look I also had the exact same doubt but I cleared it by giving away my 3 hours to this and I have concluded to a point so I am giving a disclaimer that I am not sure if it's the answer to your q but this was the most I could have thought of
      I agree that Archimedes Principle says that upthrust = weight of liquid displaced but the law of floatation says that if a body is floating in any liquid then the upthrust is equal as the weight of the body and it's true because the body can only float and stay still at that point if the force acting on it becoz of liquid (upthrust) = the (mg) or weight of that body and I guess you might be thinking that what if it is completely submerged in the liquid then the upthrust will be different and it's correct but the thing is that it's density is constant and everytime you will place it in a liquid that you were putting into it then it everytime gets partially submerged in it and therefore it everytime displaces the same weight of water and it everytime gets the same upthrust which is equal to the weight of body (becoz it is still at one place and the net force acting on it is zero)
      Hope I helped 🙂🙂

    Sir, I have doubt in 1st question you solved.
    You had taken submerged volume of object upon total volume of object which is equal to 0.894 g/cm3.
    Then what is the value of total volume (Vo)

    • @ContaminatedWorld
      @ContaminatedWorld 4 роки тому

      assume total volume as 1cubic meter then you can get Vs=0.894 and volume of not submerged part becomes 1-0.894=0.106
