One of these years, it would be nice to see the mesh technology go to a standard where anyone could connect with whatever headset one chooses to purchase. Just like Bluetooth has gone to a standard.
That’s awesome. The audio is not as good as a lavalier though. I use a purple panda lav mic with a hero 9 (with media mod) to do my vlogging, and I also use the same audio split that your friend uses to get my intercom into my recordings. Very cool new feature though. I prefer how my lav gives me cleaner audio of my voice, especially if I’m out riding on my own.
Even with Open Mesh, it’s still brand specific. You can’t mesh with anything other than Sena. When we’re all able to mesh connect with ANY brand of headset then it will be great!
Super video! Love your review! Quick question about GoPro 12 and Sena Meshport Red. To save battery and avoid overheating, I sometimes shut down the GoPro mid-recording, leaving the Sena Meshport on. Will the GoPro automatically reconnect to the Meshport when I turn it back on, or do I need to re-pair every single time? If re-pairing is needed, is it okay to just keep the Meshport on while powering down the GoPro, or will that mess with the connection?
Mesh. It's the best! All riders should migrate to it in my opinion. Now if there was only a way to record all day on split tracks for fast editing in post. I don't trust the GoPro 12 to record a full-day ride. Assuming you can connect the 12 to shore power for uninterrupted operation and not depend on its battery alone, the last time I checked, GoPro had the worst so-called 'loop recording' on the planet. It's called 'loop' recording but it's so crazy and unintuitive to set up that I lost recordings rather than captured them all. Even though I searched videos, I could never find anyone that really understood loop recording on the GoPro. There should be only one way to handle loop recording and that is for the capture unit to use the entire media card to record small segments until the capacity of the media card is reached and the unit starts deleting the oldest segments one at a time as needed to continue the recording. Use a large capacity media card and you'll easily record all day without overwriting any media already recorded that day. So, time has passed since I first tried to understand loop recording the GoPro way. Can anyone explain, clearly, how it works in the GP12? Is it still crazy? Finally, I'm sure the GoPro will not record the helmet mic on one side of a stereo track and the helmet (group) audio on the other side of the same stereo track. That will mean that the levels won't match and it'll be labor intensive to isolate the conversational elements in post. Cruiseman, when you showed my GoPro recording my ride, I had wired it to separate the helmet mic audio to record on one side of the stereo track of the GoPro and I separately fed the group voices to the other side of that stereo track and it only took a moment in post to click to make the stereo track into dual mono tracks and adjust only one of those mono tracks to match the audio level of the other mono track. Done. It took maybe 30 seconds to make all conversation of a long ride sound balanced. But, that was when Sena still had ports on the communicator base attached to the helmet. I don't think Sena does that anymore. It's like no one at Sena ever tried to record group audio and that's why they don't understand it.
Unfortunately Mesh is still only brand specific so if most of the group has Sena but one or two have Cardo, those Cardo users won’t be able to connect with everyone. Yet.
This video is only 3 months old, are they still making the mesh red? The Sena site it’s sold out and I am only seeing black and blue on Amazon. Amazon lets me click on red but takes me to blue
We paired everything but cannot hear recorded audio during play back. This is after taking sd card out and play footage on laptop. We followed your set up but we’re not hearing any recorded outage from our Sena on GoPro footage….help!
Still trying to pay off my new GL1800, wish I had extra $ to purchase such toys as “action camera “, and more toys for motorcycle hobby! Technology is great, and costly $
I stopped buying sena products because they always have problems when it comes up to updating your headset, I think sena does this so u will buy a new headset

That's awesome! Now, if only they had that for the Cardo. Oh wait…

Love from Mississippi USA 🇺🇲
You can record with the Cardo edge also & you can also connect the go pro 12 to your headset

It's almost impossible to find where to get it. Any suggestions? :-) thanks
Man I need that but I don't want to pay that much lol peace 😌 my go pro is a Hero that's right 2014 hero so I need something to mesh with it.

Could I pair my cardo bold or edge to it? Looking for an easy way to communicate with Sena users
Buy the blue version it connects Bluetooth headphones to sena mesh group
I can't find a mesh port red device anywhere. I see many blue versions, is this the same?
@@USRadOrca no, the blue is not the same.
