the VAD is the design of all Mares regulators and it FEELS like you're getting too much air because there's no resistance to breathing as per the VAD design. the vortex generates a low pressure center so you get all the air you want without wasting on something as archaic as a Venturi nob
In case of a normal vad, not the adjustible type, the mares is perfect, that's why the American navy bought Them. Breathing resistance is not a problem at 15 m deel, but the viscosity of gases gets higher with compression. The resort, the more effort. And vad is a way to overcome that a bit. In the nineties: everybody who had the money tot themselves An abyss. (Also for cold waters, no extra things needed in 4gr C.)
It is great review. I am just about to buy my own regulator and some how I like Mares and I chose Mares Abyss 52x. What do you think about and what is your personal recomendation? Thank very much.
I'm intrigued by the cressi thor fins, they looks very similar to the oceanic manta ray or even similar to the aqualung phazer, but i haven't find many data about the thor
J’utilise ce detendeur depuis des années et je l’adore . Il est extrêmement confortable .

Completely true but for us and several other instructors who tried it it felt uncomfortable.

Abyss is a great reg! Durable and very comfortable! Would pick the abyss ten times over the Fusion!
We dive mostly with Scubapro and Aqualung btw
It's nice to hear a critical review every once in a while
Thanks Jose!!
Good review. Thanks for the info
Thanks James Teddy!!
I really like your reviews, it seem to me that they are very honest, you should ask for more equipment to be evaluated
Thanks fxpmike! What would you like to see reviewed next?
