    Outsider's buy a croft and don't understand traditional ways and methods to communicate with folks who have been there for years and years without any neighbour disputes

      Skye Neighbours Dispute | Highland Cops 17.11.24 2024pm the outsiders will tell you how yer fixed...

      Outsiders? Traditional ways and methods to communicate? It’s never been a free country but, as far as I know, there is single Law for all people. You don’t have to have lived somewhere for generations to have the same rights as those who have. You don’t have to live their way - or vice versa. You don’t have to use traditional ways and methods to communicate; you are allowed to communicate, or not, within the Law in any way you want.
      This clip doesn’t go to the extent for examining causes and blame. I would have hoped that the two families could have met, perhaps with the Police there, to come to an agreement.

      @@theofarmmanager267 Comments on ‘Skye Neighbours Dispute | Highland Cops’ 19.11.24 0806am he says whilst trynna see off a face that doesn't fit... it doesn't work like that, as much as idealism suggests it should. i think it comes down to folk who have been there, ad nauseam, having to accommodate others and gradually find their own train of thought or their own ways of doing things are being erased.... i concur that going about one's business and not impeding on others is the most simple and straight forward way to live... as for law abiding forms of communication... do you mean CB use is an unlawful form of communication? i mean i surmise even letter sending is deemed unlawful these days what with the advent of open and easily accessed email.. there's an obsession you guys have for wanting to know what someone is doing rather than asking them.... or minding yer own business. refer to that legal form of communication you spoke of...

      @ what a dreadful reply. I will put to one side your inability to use grammar and punctuation correctly. However, you, condescendingly, refer to “you guys”. Apart from my original comment, you know nothing about me or my views and yet you deem to make asinine assumptions. You refer to CB radio as if I had made any comment about that particular medium as well as the lawfulness of mail. Get an education and come back when you can be civil.

      It's happening hear near Beauly, they buy the lease's at sky high prices, promise the planners the world then just develop into luxury house plot. No crofting activity at all. Then they destroy neighbours who speak out. Crofters commission are to blame and planning department.

    Something a bit odd here. Why is only Mr. Mackenzie's name mentioned and not also the name of the other family? Seems a bit one sided to me?

    • @GlasPthalocyanine
      @GlasPthalocyanine Місяць тому +1

      That seemed odd to me, too. Maybe the incomers don't want to be named because people might ask previous neighbours about their behaviour?

    I would be so grateful to be able to live in Skye. As an artist, I'm usually in the place that ends up with "gentrification" happening. I am absolutely of the belief that if you move into an area with generational history, you respect the people who were there before you. Colonialism is nothing to be proud of, nor repeat.

    • @Critical-Thinker895
      @Critical-Thinker895 Місяць тому

      I doubt "there before you" denotes any kind of royalty.

    • @carabiner7999
      @carabiner7999 Місяць тому

      @@Critical-Thinker895 I try to behave as is generally acceptable to places, from restaurants, to people's houses, different countries, and yes, areas. The manners in the South of the USA are different from those in the Northeast.
      When I move to an area where people have lived for generations, I will do my best to be at least respectful. This has nothing to do with "royalty," but basic common courtesy. That's why I don't move to some areas, as well.
      Calling the cops over a branch that got knocked down is just a ridiculous thing to do, and a sure way to alienate yourself. The police are supposed to be about emergencies, and such. This is an absolute waste of resources, and childish, to boot.

I cant see these new fellas lasting too long they won’t have the stamina. Good luck to you Roddy you seem like a decent chap. Greetings from New Zealand.

    I'm going to guess that the newbies who rang the police moved there from London, or some big city, and don't have a clue how things work in the country. Because this "going to war with the neighbours" will do them far more harm than good, no matter who is in the right/wrong.
    When there's an emergency, it can take hours for help to arrive on rural areas (especially islands like Skye) - particularly in bad weather. You need the help and support of those around you. I live in a rural area and make a point of getting on with my neighbours - we all do. Not only does it make it a far nicer place to live, but it's safer when everyone looks out for each other. When a local farmer's gate got damaged in bad weather and his livestock got out on the road, we got them back in and helped patch it. Without us asking, he grits the road for us with his tractor whenever the weather's bad, so that we can get to work safely.
    When another farmer had a heart attack, my husband and I (we are both medics) gave him CPR, defibbed him to get him back, and cared for him until the air ambulance arrived. He's still with us and we've had eggs and all sorts left on our doorstep every week since. I know full well that, if I have an emergency, my neighbours will be round helping me - just as we have for them. That's peace of mind you need out here.
    They'll find out how lonely and isolating the countryside can be if they keep refusing to participate in the community... Sad thing is, that's probably why they moved there, for the community, then they treat it like it's London and ignore everyone... There's no helping some people.
