Outsider's buy a croft and don't understand traditional ways and methods to communicate with folks who have been there for years and years without any neighbour disputes
Outsiders? Traditional ways and methods to communicate? It’s never been a free country but, as far as I know, there is single Law for all people. You don’t have to have lived somewhere for generations to have the same rights as those who have. You don’t have to live their way - or vice versa. You don’t have to use traditional ways and methods to communicate; you are allowed to communicate, or not, within the Law in any way you want. This clip doesn’t go to the extent for examining causes and blame. I would have hoped that the two families could have met, perhaps with the Police there, to come to an agreement.

I would be so grateful to be able to live in Skye. As an artist, I'm usually in the place that ends up with "gentrification" happening. I am absolutely of the belief that if you move into an area with generational history, you respect the people who were there before you. Colonialism is nothing to be proud of, nor repeat.
@@Critical-Thinker895 I try to behave as is generally acceptable to places, from restaurants, to people's houses, different countries, and yes, areas. I'm going to guess that the newbies who rang the police moved there from London, or some big city, and don't have a clue how things work in the country. Because this "going to war with the neighbours" will do them far more harm than good, no matter who is in the right/wrong. When there's an emergency, it can take hours for help to arrive on rural areas (especially islands like Skye) - particularly in bad weather. You need the help and support of those around you. I live in a rural area and make a point of getting on with my neighbours - we all do. Not only does it make it a far nicer place to live, but it's safer when everyone looks out for each other. When a local farmer's gate got damaged in bad weather and his livestock got out on the road, we got them back in and helped patch it. Without us asking, he grits the road for us with his tractor whenever the weather's bad, so that we can get to work safely. When another farmer had a heart attack, my husband and I (we are both medics) gave him CPR, defibbed him to get him back, and cared for him until the air ambulance arrived. He's still with us and we've had eggs and all sorts left on our doorstep every week since. I know full well that, if I have an emergency, my neighbours will be round helping me - just as we have for them. That's peace of mind you need out here. They'll find out how lonely and isolating the countryside can be if they keep refusing to participate in the community... Sad thing is, that's probably why they moved there, for the community, then they treat it like it's London and ignore everyone... There's no helping some people.
I'd love an old abandoned croft. I'd build it up to produce my fruit and veggies and run my UA-cam channel from there. I wouldn't be any bother to anybody. I wonder whether the newcomers just didn't keep themselves to themselves?

Something a bit odd here. Why is only Mr. Mackenzie's name mentioned and not also the name of the other family? Seems a bit one sided to me?
That seemed odd to me, too. Maybe the incomers don't want to be named because people might ask previous neighbours about their behaviour?
An absolute waste of time, people phoning the police for disputes like this should be charged

Not to jump in the ‘sides’.The truth is in the ‘middle’ somewhere.
So will we ever know the truth, extremely unlikely that the BBC wants to go down that rabbit hole...
Some people never grow up.

the opening naration mentions " outsiders " and the term is used in the comments. clear.
So basically the same problem when an area anywhere begins to get gentrified
Ridiculous.
