All I've seen and heard so far, both gameplay and performance wise, is a massive leap forward and deserving of adding a "2" behind the title. Looking forward to more tutorials, gameplay and eventually the game for myself!
@@colonelfailure I tried playing TF just to remember why we don't play it anymore. I went to lay down a rail line in the town and... Terrain alignment collision. 'Just delete the houses like TpF does'. No? then I quit! Back to TpF. 😀
That's actually a good point at 1:20. I'm so used to being able to set up an oil line and just deliver the fuel to every town in sight. Not being able to do that would make things more challenging.
Thank you for doing something in an unnecessary way to make me smile, then admit later on that the only reason you did it was to make me smile. Take my sub & thumb up good sir!
I can see so many fun opportunities for creating brilliant custom maps when combining the new freight mechanics and the custom map creation..... I am drooling to get my hands on TPF2 (that is metaphorical drool). An excellent video CF!...... Oh my the view across the water as that tanker docked........... I can see lots of screen shot opportunities on the horizon (pun intended).
Presumably, folks who want to replicate the EPEC challenge--or just deliver more than two types of goods to a town--can use the map creator to add suburbs to towns. I'm really looking forward to creating conurbations with different goods types (and streetcar suburbs! Finally! America isn't complete without its long freight trains and streetcar suburbs) Big fan of your new TF2 series, Colonel. Keep up the hard work!
I imagine hubs will become useful for getting multiple raw material sources to a single factory and/or multiple goods that use the same consist Eg; build a hub that funnels multiple grain sources into a big train for the food plant
I’ve managed a billion before the turn of the century. Never in TPF 1 could I imagine a billion before the 1900’s but the new system works. And works well.
After reading today's secret, I would be tempted to say that Advanced Planning will be a welcome new addition to the Colonel's channel. But I wouldn't dare suggest such a thing - perish the thought...
Apparently, if a cargo is waiting a certain time at a dock, station, some of it 'vanishes' [presumed stolen lol]. So one has to take that into account too!
Thank you Col. Failure... While I think that the idea of limited cargo per town is not a bad idea, I still believe that it would be great if 2 Basic Cargo types where required by every city on top of the other 2 cargo types. These 2 required cargo types would be the two most essential for city living: being food and building material. I can't think of any 'growing' city (containing People and Buildings) surviving without it.
Hey, What about too many demanders and not enough producers. EX I have only 2 fuel refineries on a map of 28 towns, My 2 refineries won't produce enough to ship to all towns. I have plenty of oil being shipped but there appears to be no way to increase amounts. Any ideas?
I could hear you a lot clearer on this video than the TF finale vid. Dunno what was going on with the volume levels. After all, it's your voice we're all tuning in to hear. Maybe. P. S. Gutted I missed the livestream :(
There never was a train Fever2 TF=Train Fever. TpF =Transport Fever. How long is it going to take for some people to start using correct abbreviations?
heres an interesting issue Ive seen. A lot of times now, without SPECIFYING the cargo you want your train or truck to carry (seriously, WHY get rid of that bit of micromanaging!?) your train tends to take one cargo, and load it either at the yard or facotry, or place some of its load on the platform MEANT for the OTHER product. Why does it just DO that?
I've yet to come across an American rail enthusiast who doesn't go weak at the knees... or sing the national anthem or some such, while watching a 5 mile long freight train roll pass thunderously.
get deeper! I can't stop playing this game even though I just don't get it! For instance, I'll have 50 damn grain trucks delivering to one bread plant....and only 10 food trucks delivering food......and yet the bread plant cannot keep up and thus my food trucks go empty or half full. HELP!!!
Sorry if I am deranged. But once you figure it out you can ,ake a relatively simple rail system that can supply it all. And I will try again when I can buy this game.
Expansion over 400 units to a city gets a bit complicated... when a factory can order from more than one place, it will spread it in a way that's not always logical... a factory producing 400 tools right next to a city that uses more than 500 will not be able to deliver everything to that one city... so you have to foresee that all tools can find their way to all cities that need them... hooking everything up can generate a lot of extra cargo opportunity, but you don't get to chose, you just have to foresee the capacity that the factories order from all different places...
Colonel needs to get a better watch/phone, says it a 5 minute tutorial and it is in fact 5:22... - Ohhhhhh hang on, we talking about the Colonel here, the world famous "couldn't do anything right if it fell over him" Colonel... - Forget I said anything.. :)
1:00 you would have to be deranged to try something like that lol. That was the objective, and also to do express passenger service to each station all on the same network. Transport fever offered real-life scenarios, which turned the game into real problems the railway would face in real life. I don't have transport fever2 and I am already not a fan of the new freight system. Anyway, keep the videos coming all the best.
This looks a bit like an expensive re skin, even creating and shipping the exact same materials, is there much in new and innovative game play that sets this apart from TF1?
Mmmm. TPF 1 Dumbed down but with better graphics - sound like Boris Jonson is their new head of product development. If anyone has played TPF1 with New Industries DLC they will be disappointed in this.
@@colonelfailure Fair enough - New Industries is a mod - but its called DLC so I used the term to reference it. From what I have seen for far from your (as always excellent) tutorial - the game play MAY be be better- but far less realistic. There are plenty of train GAMES out there - what makes TPF different is the realism both in the look and in the logistic challenge. TPF2 LOOKS great but in many ways is a step back. There is no killer innovation - such as importing / export good (as found in the New Industries Mod) or (as far as I can see) any new industry chains - same old same old. TPF2 is a better looking City Skyline plus traffic lights!
I'm still not buying the "towns don't need food" (or at least deliveries of it from your freight network) thing. Yes, I know; "video game". HOWEVER this is like some of the changes in Rome II Total War; the devs took some concepts from the first game that were founded on common sense, then warped them into something that was frankly somewhere between distasteful and ridiculous. Look at any town, anywhere, and the bulk of deliveries will be of (a) food and (b) fuel. Clothes, appliances, hardware; those can be bought in neighbouring towns. But every town needs food and fuel if it's going to grow. The only towns that don't are ones which are hemmed in geographically and won't grow anyway, but it's for dang certain that an adequate supply of tasty and nutritious machine parts isn't going to cause a town to grow when it's a full day journey to reach a supermarket. Abstraction I'm OK with. Flipping logic on its head and pulling its entrails out, on the other hand, tends to grind my gears even in a game.
Transport Fever 2, where we care about the dolphins.
But not *that* much.

Can i build train station and near it cargo road vechicle station and somehow unload from trains to trucks and ship it around the city ?
Yes.

Point of order good sir- Americans do not 'go weak in the knees.' Surely you have mistaken us for some other nationality of lesser caliber.
Weak in the knees, perhaps not. But swoon for elaborate freight logistics systems you do.

in the line manager you can let the trucks wait to be filled up and how long they will wait
So what came first the truck or the fuel?...

Has ship pathing been improved in TF2?
I can see that there is a lot of room for comparisons to the old TF1 and excuses as to why I've gone bankrupt again in TF2.

4:39 lol :) I see 0% and 0% on there for goods being delivered because the town you have selected doesn't receive any goods...
Yeah, that's an edit foul-up on my part. Wrong city overlay. It still illustrates the details well enough though.

They don't require it on a massive scale. Or. They don't need you to bring it.
