I just found your channel today. So skilled! The entire channel shows not only talent but great taste in tunes. You basically just sold Xenocrisis to me too.
I love the sound the Genesis when sound engineer knows how program this sound chips but this sounds really amazing and I am not sure if the Genese could sound like this. Can you confirm that this audio could be played through a genesis model 1? Maybe make a video showing this?
Yes it could, he posts the VGMs in his patreon account. If you have an everdrive you can load the vgm player and play it straight on a Genesis from the everdrive - i have done this with these tracks. There are somethings that would have made it unlikely in the day to have sounded this good if included in a game etc , mainly the memory they could allocate to music and the space afforded on the cart to the music. Hes 100% using all the genesis sounds hardware eg ym2612 and PSG and likely using a lot more memory for cleaner samples etc that would have been afforded in the memory budget in the day.
@@aSlaaneth Would be cut down in some regards for sure, however one technique they could employ is they pick a non critical instrument in the soundtrack to cut to playing the sound effect then pan back to the instrument. There were games also that employed software mixing on the pcm channel also to get more channels, this essentially gave more pcm channels albiet at lower quality than a single channel . One youtube channel I found the other day has some fantastic tracks using this method on the xgm driver ua-cam.com/channels/UyAyZkGGrjFlm7Q-NT9RNw.htmlvideos .

Question sir, when you say its (YM2612 Rearranged, this means this is how it would sound on the genesis in its whole? In otherwords, it would sound exactly coming from the actual genesis hardware? If so, damn, taking this long to show what the system can do, pretty darn impressive.
Late reply and you might have figured it out already but rearranged means he has improved parts of it - and added to it , but it can still play on an original genesis. Could it have been of this quality in game , unlikely due to memory constraints (here he can use 4Mb (32 mbit) for the entire track if needed) - however as gecko has proven in Xeno-Crisis it can be damn close even when cut back. Just goes to show that if these retro systems had the privilege of having more memory at their disposal the audio fidelity would have increased a lot.

I normally don't see the point in same-system covers, but GOD DAMN, SON... this is masterful!
Holy crap. This sounds as if Technosoft themselves had done it. Gave me chills.
Barring the percussion samples though, since I've never heard Technosoft use any in their games, but yeah I totally agree with you there!

you should make a rom hack with a fully remastered soundtrack of musha that would be sick
If someone released a MUSHA hack or any Genesis game with these rearranged tracks I'd be willing to pay 50$ for the patch alone
Considering this tracks use all the fm channels and 3 out of 4 psg channels, wouldn't be much left for sound effects

Parts of this song remind me of Seperate ways, which I think will also sound amazing on the Genesis
The second half reminds me of the descending piano section of sonic.exe
