Believe it or not this video has been ready for MONTHs and I just forgot to publish it! Should have done it in those three weeks away. Ridiculous. In either case, enjoy!
Gotta appreciate that WP takes time and effort to show and talk about only one thing at a time unlike most people who would probably just use fotage of all skills being used in combat all the time. Thank you WP for going into such detail and not confusing me by showing too much at once. :D
I love the Dragonhunter I just haven't played mine in a while. I remember I use to play a DH build specifically for Stronghold, you guys remember Stronghold!
I think the idea behind the vigor on the longbow's symbol is that you pop a symbol and stand in / on its edges from within to gain vigor uptime while deterring enemies from going straight through the symbol and take a few pulses of damage, double so if you swap weapon to place another symbol, then the vigor helps for more defensive options.
One of my favorites builds in PvP was a bunker trap build, using the defensive traps. It routinely caught people off-guard when they were expecting the normal meditrapper shtick. It's been *years* (I used it in season 4 at the latest, probably earlier)... maybe I ought to play around with it again.
I've always wondered if shield of courage would be more fun if it was sacrifice an aegis on you to create the shield wall. If no aegis get aegis instead. Either that or if you use it while you have aegis it's consumed for a super version of the wall
Greatsword Dragonhunter perhaps my favorite thing to play in PvE. Just melts so many foes. Chaining Procession of Blades, Spear of Justice, Symbol of Wrath, and Whirling Wrath is just easy kills.
4:25 its odd too because (you can see from thumbnail) a lot of the original art for the Dragonhunter, tends to be a spirit looking bow like Azurelong. It does look a lot like Pharus the latest legendary though
I imagine the idea behind Defender's Dogma refreshing Justice is just to give a little QoL to people running the traits that increase damage to burning foes / crit chance against burning foes. If it didn't have the 3 second internal cooldown, it would be an excellent way to load people up with burn in combination with like Procession of Blades or Symbol of Wrath paired with Shield of Courage / Shelter.
This is cool, thanks. I've always preferred core guardian playstyle. I'm slowly getting used to Firebrand, but I've never gotten used to the virtue changes in DH. But I'm always looking to keep trying new things.
What other specializations to take? 1 is radiance, but the other? And how to set them up? At least 1 example that workes would be great. Experiment later. What secondary weapons to use?
4:04 The bow itself is called Yawldir, Y'alldir? How did you come to this pronunciation? Fun fact: Ýdalir is old Icelandic for 'yew valley'. Yew wood is highly suitable for bowmaking. In Norse mythology, it is the living place of the archer god Ullr.
Nice! I always wished the Longbow was better in pve, as I do not subscribe to the weapon weakening the guardian identity at all. In fact, I think it is a really well-designed weapon, and well-themed, but for some reason its numbers performance is not as suited to pve... I will still keep it on swap for open world, just because I enjoy it so. By the way, it's funny.. I am the opposite with tooltips. The larger it is, the cozier I feel. :D
Hey WP As with your other 'walkthroughs' on lvl 80, I'm loving this! But it seem to lack the other 2 specializations (well the breakdown of radiance at least, if going with that) and examples for weapon swap - which I'd love to learn more about, being fairly new to the game. :)
Regarding the heal skill. What do you think of a trap that heals big when it triggers (like it does now) but it also does regen or some other smaller heal over time until it is triggered. That way you could use it for some healing over time or the big heal. Maybe wouldn't be any good. I don't know. Just had the idea.
@@matthewmullin6042 Yeah I know. I just thought that maybe heal over time could be more interesting than the small heal. But I don't really know why that would be any better really.
Hopefully they can buff the bow in PvE now when they added ballance for each game mode. In WvW and PvP it needed to be toned down but PvE got the nerf too. Hopefully this sort of nerfs can be avoided and no game mode have to suffer because of the other modes.
Right? Soulbeast sygernises with Beastmaster oh so well! the +400 ferocity increase alone is insane.. that is if you're in beast-mode. :p I main Ranger so I absolutely adore Soulbeast!

Also very much looking forward to your Classic WoW vs Guild Wars 1 video. Go WP !
u should do a video about speedrunning dungeons :P
theres speed running raids wb dungeons

4:40 I love the DH gauntlet!
It's not just any heavy glove, but a really cool mix of heavy armour and archery gauntlets used specifically for bows.
"We're all dragon 'space' hunters in Guild Wars" - I want to be a Dragon Spacehunter..
ik this is two years ago but why not a Dragonspace hunter?
I can't wait to see this series for end of Dragons !
I love that they released a dragonhunter with a bow meant for hunting dragons but the bow is best used in wvw against other players
10:20 deflecting shot behind you in PVP is great fun. Also sending it infront when people are stomping
All they need to do imo is change/buff core guardian virtues active, while moving the active on cd does not remove passive to the virtues line.
I love the Dragonhunter I just haven't played mine in a while. I remember I use to play a DH build specifically for Stronghold, you guys remember Stronghold!
Ah, the good old days. I loved playing my support tempest in stronghold. Just stalling and farming points.
I always considered the vigor on the symbol as more support oriented. Something I give to melee allies to give them more dodges

Is it still good?
Yes

Was doing ascent to madness and the fastest runs had like 3 dragonhunters place those traps and chunked thorn down real hard when he showed back up.

DH is basically a direct upgrade to core guardian though.
@@ReddSquall I've practiced and gotten used to it now since that comment. Definitely agree.
My main class.
Well there have been a few changes to longbow and zeal - this is a trip down memory lane
What other specializations to take? 1 is radiance, but the other? And how to set them up? At least 1 example that workes would be great. Experiment later.
What secondary weapons to use?
The raid build is running zeal 223 with Scepter/Focus and GS and standard Force/Impact sigils
Don't be too harsh on our anglo-saxon friends. 🤣They always pronounce Norse names funny.
This video just decided for me my next in game GW2 character.....

I'm confused, have these skills changed? Deflective Shot does not block shots anymore, instead it knockbacks.

It already has a small 2k heal when you drop the trap.
@@matthewmullin6042 Yeah I know. I just thought that maybe heal over time could be more interesting than the small heal. But I don't really know why that would be any better really.
Not sure if you mentioned it but what other trait lines do you take with it for most effectiveness?

Premium content thank you again.
Will we ever get ranger builds?

Is hammer viable for a dragonhunter build for PvE?
36:23 The chat disagrees...
I don’t want to make an alt , wishing I would have known ranger wasn’t the only one to use bows
Is this the video for pve guardian build for the Optimum builds series?
“The Longbow Wielding Guardian”
Oh
Boy
This is gonna be a sad one
Longbow with the GM trait and test of faith is still reasonably strong in PvP, and you see it in a lot of games.
hey. where do i see the build for this? i cant find it , i must be blind
This is awkward. I’m exclusively condi dragonhunter.
Does that work? I've never considered it
The Dmg on longbow is so lame it needs a buff.
When the DH first came out, it was insanely OP. Definitely been nerfed a few times
@@nolanmartin1570 :/
I don't see many dragonhunters using longbows in 2021.
I miss GW2 and guardians
Good vid, thanks wp
Why does your game looks so good and sharp ? Mine looks washed up.
Super Shredder....
"and daredavil may be the next" ;)
He has already done daredevil
What do "Christ" have to do with it?
Just saying your month old vid has the same name as the new Saga Eps 1 name. Also anyone reading the chat log at the toxic HP train leaders lol
I forgot how lame the name Dragonhunter was, yet that is the one i tend to main.
Can we stop and appreciate the fact that 99% sure they only have Longbow's to Dragonhunters because of Braham?
More like Downstate hunter
