In today's video we're experimenting with Photoshop Generative Fill and Adobe Firefly to see what's possible. Many people fear Ai is going to replace artists, but today I'm here to show you it's not that plain and simple! Adobe's Ai features are a great help and serve simply as a tool to make our life easier and faster. I believe artists will always stay relevant as we express our ideas in different ways.

I just feel that artists don’t get much attention for their dedicated hard work. You can get this man to create phenomenal art which some people would want to copy and redraw and get no views and likes and attention whereas someone just types a few words and everyone will like it. Really love your work
The reason is he's not that consistent as he was check other videos views
@@jester6789yeah but things happen sometimes people can't be perfect or always consistent especially when it comes to art which can take weeks to make or just a couple hours.
This is sad,
Honestly I am so bored with AI "looking" material. It just looks fake and plastic. I want to see real artwork, like this dude made. Props for him!
@@gamergridsthat's why he gonna be obsolete and gonna be replaced
I started my own channel and I was really scared to do that because of AI and I realized something, no matter how good AI gets, It's all about the process, I watch Benny, PhaseRunner, Encreate etc. all the time and I enjoy it more and more, I don't care if computer creates the most amazing paintings I'm still watching Bob Ross.
One thing I notice from those who use AI for AI is the lack of knowledge about composition, it depends a lot on the machine providing this and without composition the best techniques seem amateurish. A guy who uses AI and has a sense of composition goes ahead.
Lol AI can’t touch Bob Ross he’s cool ole school
Yep your right! Also, AI still cant do a human job as a human and it will never do it
As a non-artist with no artistic ability, having played with AI art for a few months now, I think I can say that AI art will not (can not) replace artists. Anyone can easily use AI to churn out generic, non-meaningful 'art' all day, but it will always take a true artist at the helm to create anything of artistic value. It will be an amazing tool to improve the workflow of an artist, but it will never make someone an artist if they weren't before.
As they say, don't use the word "never" when it comes to technology. Especially not when this technology has changed drastically in just a decade, and continues to improve. For all you know, these systems could become just as good as any artist in another 10 years, with incorporated knowledge about aesthetics, style, and creativity. As of now, they are miles behind.
I don't agree at all. It's an empty rhetoric from people being scared being replaced by AI. I think it will be as unique as any human artist if not even more so.
@@kalumanderI highly agree, many people say this yet cannot tell the difference between AI and non-AI generated art, an AI generated art piece won an art competition as a proof of concept, meaning it can quite easily make superior and more 'creative' art pieces than humans, however to get consistently good results, you must actually be rather experienced with AI, which is something many peole fail to understand.
Somehow I feel like this take will age like milk in about 5-10 years.
@@TrueOracleSo, bring together a guy who knows composition, art direction, the fundamentals of drawing, it can be image editing, you can be an expert in AI, an artist will have twice as much knowledge and application, it will be like this guy who won the competition but even more turbocharged, since art is still a highly subgetive process and not just the technical part technology can evolve and artists will evolve with it and surpass themselves.
Great video, and I agree with your points! In my field of work (thumbnails), the Generative Fill has proven to be one of the best tools ever. What was usually a mundane process before is just a breeze now. Best examples are removing small objects, expanding the image/objects or adding the shoulders when clients send a cut-off selfie for a thumbnail 😂 Lots of saved time!
The only problem I see ever being a serious threat is AI "Artists" claiming their work is 100% self made.
Genuine Artists will always be valued.
Nobody claims it's 100% their work. Just like you say "i took that photo with my phone" they say "i made that image with ai".
@@OlivioSarikas Nope, AI-bros claim that they made pics what AI did.
There is thousands that claim it's "their art", they are the one who even made the result happen. These kind of people are lazy rats trying to make a quick buck and pretend to themselves they are doing a "tough job". Rats.. just rats honestly.
@@pr1sm55 And even worse, they steal the visibility of real artists.
I'm not trying to defend the AI artist that claim their stuff is 100% made by them, but I'm just curious, do you consider the image at 3:05 in this video 100% made by Benny? Did he go out and take all the photos that were used in its creation? Did he blend different pigments to get all the color gradients required for the shadows, or did he allow PS to do the heavy lifting there? These questions are not meant to take away from the art created here, but rather to point out that just because someone uses the tools available to create shortcuts in their workflow does not mean they are not the one creating the final art. The reality is, the only way any piece is 100% created by the artist is if they lay pigment to paper, chisel to stone, fingers to clay, etc. There is very little that is "100% self made" these days.
I think it'll be interesting to see Benny vs. Midjourney
I don’t think he will because he knows how good it is. Generative fill is nothing compared to midjourney and dalle 3
yep
@conhuir Yeah, but it'll still be very interesting
just tried dall-e3 and it almost got everything perfect except for the sign haha but with some manual tweaking i think i could create the same result like benny (at least form a disctance) in less than 15min. But i still think, ai wont replace us but makes our life much easier
@@conhuir
And Stable Diffusion, also for upscaling
Damn, honestly, no ai can ever be better than one of bennys insane artworks.
This is crazy, thank u Benny. 🙏
"Benny with the power of AI is the only one who can go equally with Benny" 😎
"ever" 😂 here we go again
You need to use a better AI model and you'll know XD PS AI is shit.
@@soulxslayerchan what ai do u recommend?
i commented 3 times with huge details but yt is not adding those comments here. idk whats up.@@juliankaiser3086
The images that Ai did in this video are impressive, however my favorite is the one that benny did, it is just so well made and beautiful and has a lot more action.
although he could use AI image and do his job to improved it
could have been so much better
The AI creates that image if he used his hability to improve some sort of things like
shadows, positions the result would be magical
At the same level of his work who was amazing,
the thing is U can't expect the AI to create something u have in your mind
without changing things, layers, and improve it
@@whoamit46429:37
He competed against himself. He deliberately made the AI one bad.
Even if it was only ever designed as a stepping off point for real artists, there are countless things that end up being used in ways beyond what their intended purpose was. In other words, this is definitely going to be used as a cheap and fast alternative to hiring an artist. We artists are definitely going to be replaced in the eyes of many clients.
Imagine where it will be in just a few years from now.
Yours is definitely the best looking. I agree, it's more a tool to simplify work around some areas or a tool for inspiration.
I don't even have Photoshop I only have PicsArt but I been watching Benny's channel for a very long time and he's editing tips like how he apply shadow, elements really helps me in traditional art.....I'm using this as an opportunity to learn and get better at how to draw and see things realistically...❤❤
Professional Digital Artists: My workflow involves the use of 10 software where I can go from sketching to 3d sculpting/modelling all the way to a final render where I can composit in photoshop.
Benny: google > someone elses image > copy > paste > hue/saturate
I mean. . . this is only how AI is NOW. I think people should consider that this is kind of stuff is going to evolve and advance dramatically and we need to prepare for that.
AI definitely can't replace artists anytime soon. It does however seem to be a really useful tool to enhance certain parts of the image and also can save a ton of time on concept artwork for movies, videogames, ect.
Sooner than you think. It's a bit scary that I still find these kind of comments. The info on current developments in AI is everywhere but it's like no one (maybe the media's fault) is talking about it.
The AI engineers have a totally different mindset about this tech than the people that use it. It's not about tools, it's about control. Creating machines that are indistinguishable from humans. Kind of like playing God. stuff than AGI was the holy grail up until 2016 but it's right at our doorstep.
But that's just the baseline. Before that you will start to see AI (like CRISPR tech) being used to enhance and limit human capabilities. Cancer will become a thing of the past, sexual deviancy etc but... it will also curtail the aggressive nature in populations to make them more docile eliminating the cost and need for policing them. In the end you will have a tyrannical system dominated by machines and genetically engineered human populations that have no incentive to do anything about it. Think Gatica.
And we will comply. We always do. I realized this with Covid.
Ai definitely will replace a lot of designers for the simple reason that most people/companies are cheap and if they can get a result with "a push of the button" they will do that instead of paying for work.
Indeed, I feel like this is what a lot of artists do not understand. They see AI as a good tool for them, inspiration etc. but don't look at it from the lens of a company hiring an artist. These companies might just go for ''good enough'' with AI while paying barely anything for it.
@@luke0346 No, they won't. AI is a blunt tool, it doesn't produce exactly what you want. If you think that you have no idea how these industries work.
I just feel that artists don’t get much attention for their dedicated hard work. You can get this man to create phenomenal art which some people would want to copy and redraw and get no views and likes and attention whereas someone just types a few words and everyone will like it. Really love your work
AI is one of those weird topics that I've gone back and forth on a lot. As far as generative fill goes, I love the idea. It's basically just a better version of content-aware fill, and I think it has huge potential to help clean up photos and such, or to fill in empty areas on cropped or rotated images like shown in this video.
Would love to see a video where you combine your Photoshop skills with these generations to create something amazing. Show people how AI enhances your ideas and execution!
Only thing missing was you leveraging it as a tool along with your personal techniques to create a fourth final image
Great vid man! Your version was top notch 🔥
I watch your vids!😊
Honestly, no matter how cool the images are, i can tell whether the image is generated by ai by just looking at it. I dont know what it is. But there is something on the ai generated images.
Wow, I'm just now finding your videos... Incredible work! I'll definitely be watching more.
My biggest issue with some of these AI models is lack of transparency. Where are the images that are being used to train the model being pulled from? Were those original artists/photographers compensated? I'd assume in many cases they haven't so it's borderline theft
Do you compensate every artist that has inspired you?
The way you shade, the object used.
Do you think he compensated volkswagen for using the likeness of the bus?
You obviously can go too far and break copyright but that is not on the ai, you can't sue photoshop when someone scrubs out your signature and used your image, you sue the person that scrubbed it out. Same with ai, if your art is clearly used and breaks copyright you go after who is using the image.
@@group555_ it's not inspiration. they are training the models based on your images TO CREATE A PRODUCT. the closest comparison would be Google with the robots.txt file. You have a choice if you want your site indexed with Googles model. Artists currently have zero transparency or choice in the matter. I don't think you actually understand how these AI models train and work.
Also, to be clear, I have no issue with the people using the AI models. My issue is directly with the companies
that the unfair point, any random dude can throw any prompts and acheive insane art which he wasn't expecting ,because those ai generators are already trained from good artists work
@@group555_ Being inspired by an image and using a stock image without permission are two different things. AI art is doing the latter.
Benny where is Halloween edit submission video?😢😢😢 I loved that series please bring back...love from INDIA 🇮🇳
I try to explain to anyone not regularly using generative tools that this is just another tool in your arsenal. Just like power tools can make your work go faster when woodworking, all generative tools can help you work faster and get fast results. You still have to know what a bad and good result is and why. The path to that result might just be heavily reduced.
Their generative AI isnt intended to replace human made artwork or photobashes anyway, its intended to accompany us. You can input some generated stuff into your images, you can also use it as a idea or reference generator perhaps and i see a huge potential for this.
Wishful thinking.
Here is the bottom line: You need to churn out creative work that's WAY better than anything you do now, at a faster pace and looking incredible. If you focus on that you might get through this. The only chance you might have is changing your workflow by incorporating more and more AI. The long slow process of craftsmanship will become nothing more than therapeutic. I don't think a lot of people understand how the current tech is working nor what they are planning. It's fine if the tech just stayed the same as it's now. Problem is, the next decade is going to be hell.
@@snaphaan5049it's like wood working. You can get to some specialist paying 1000 for a table or go to IKEA and buy one for 300. Guess what most people do? Creative work will become the same.
They just say that its a tool for artists to deter some of the hostility.
Actually gutted there wasn’t a Bennys Spooky Edit War this year. Cmon Bennie just come back lad
AI is here to help can't replace a Pro like you 😄 Is there any Halloween video coming up?
I haven’t played around that much with the AI. I didn’t realize it blends with the rest of the layers. That’s insane
I am glad you see ai as a tool for artist. Remember you had an idea for a bus on a train track with a jet engine on it. That is when the artist is at work. Getting all the light right in the image is borderline tedious. There is still a neural filter in the making that would do that, using ai. Another great tool, to get to the image you have in your head.
I am never using ai images out of the box. Always changing the colors, removing artifacts, adding details or atmospherics, etc. And sometimes using a Firefly image as input for a Leonardo, Midjourney or Dall-E 3 image.
A couple of my friends say AI with art is making their job much easier because they scan their work and the use prompts with AI to check out ideas saving a lot of time so i guess its how u use it.

I love Benny creative work And you are the best inspiration.
We want a Halloween video challenge! Make a selection, select certain images that should be used, if the final image contains an AI image, automatically disqualify it. We need more content like this, we're tired of the dumb AI, everyone is an artist today, and actually what you do is the core of this whole business and you should live all of this!
The point for me with ai in any creative industry is that no matter how good ai gets, it will never replace us: people are creative because we want to be. Literature, art, music, design and anything else like that is fuelled by people who want to make something themselves, not using an ai but for the joy and satisfaction in creating something.
the artistry comes from knowing how to tell it what to do. the more detailed your description, the closer the image will be to what you see in your minds eye. remember it is a tool. the better you are at using it the better your final image will be.
A true artist with AI... Is just BOMB!
It is super impressive how AI can make such good art by just learning from everyone's prompts
I'm glad that benny's starting to upload again
Yours looked way better, it looks like the cover for a movie or smth
Have you ever considered using Camera Raw Filters on your images (especially landscapes) to change the colour before putting them into Photoshop?
We missed you bro hopefully the spookiness is coming back
I have been seeing more movie posters that are AI generated and they just feel unfinished. The AI is great for idea generation and as a tool to help the artist get to the finished result, assuming companies actually facilitate the polishing stage. I use the Adobe AI tools at work all the time and they are a great help. I appreciate this video because I feel the comparison of results is fair and fairly accurate to my own experience around the tools.
Damn best comment.
Its honestly due to the people creating the generated images who are at fault. They CAN be finished pieces that can be indistinguishable, but people are attributing AI generation with Laziness which means that they just type something in and hope for it to work...
If an artist with Intention uses a AI generator, they could make whatever they wanted to much faster than if they made it from scratch.
Artificial intelligence does not have human feelings or thought. Artificial intelligence only deals with numbers, and even if it does what you want, it lacks meaning.
Great job benny.
I mean I’m not a big fan of AI art either but what you said just isn’t true. AI learns from human data it doesn’t just create things from “numbers.”
@@Grqm_I think once AI gets to 4 th level it will be pretty much self conscious and intelligent in every field but for now they are mostly specific or human level
But the fact is, AI can not photoshop like humans. We can easily findout what is made by humans and an ai.No way they can replace such a talented artist like you and others. ❤❤❤❤
Benny a tip if you want more realistic results of the AI, be specific as hell. On every detail.
If you want the most similar ground put dead grass, sand ground, desert, etc.
Sunset with orange and purple tones of colors, this kind of stuff. Specific.
I loved this video because it is honest. I'm tired of people demonizing IAs, they are just another tool that can help creators a lot. To fight against that is to put yourself in the position of those who fought against tractors or sewing machines in the past. AI are not the magic panacea that solves everything, we already see that the results leave much to be desired, they are of little use if you don't have talent and previous knowledge and experience. Good video, thanks.
It went from a challenge to having fun!!!
A good challenge should always be fun!
Question? Are you doing a Benny's spooky edit war 2023?
Broooo your art is mindblowing !!! your level have gone up so mutch !!!
Finally a new Video!!! I'm so happy. Thank you very much
I've been waiting so long for Benny to make a video like this! Awesome video dude!
Excellent tutorial that inspired me to try and create the scene with a single prompt in DALL-E 3 Bing Image Creator. ‘Here’s my prompt if anyone wants to try it: Hyper realistic photo of retro camper van with graffiti on side , with train wheels, running on railroad tracks, on top of bus an aircraft engine and full throttle reheat, at night, headlights on’
Awesome video Benny, your attitude in the beginning was a little different towards A.I. but you have risen above many other artist and embraced it. Can you imagine what painters and drawers felt like in 90's when photoshop came out? Watch photoshop 1.0 debut on television, its the same conversations as today for A.I.
Can you do ARTIST vs MIDJOURNEY ?
I love how Benny says "him" as if to say AI IS HIM!
Benny Productions is still best. AI, in its current form, is a tool not a human replacement.
This reminds me of the arrival of image banks. We said to ourselves, "Great, no need to hire a photographer anymore!"... and we could spend days looking for the right images while the client waited for us to present a project.
And finally, the most effective thing was to call on a roughman, then a photographer and finally to retouch the visual.
AI isn't going to change much. At first, the client will say I can do things myself... and then they will call a graphic designer or an agency!
Benny : 1
Ai : You need more practise
Pro tip: if the angle of the van makes more diagonal line and bring more excitement feeling. If he didn’t choose that angle the entire piece would feel very dull/calm. This “angle theory” applies to almost every art or design subject and if you use it I promise it WILL make your your art more exciting.
Yeah , genuinely was thinking about adobe graphic artists and video kinda proves how much better human-made shit is. I have never seen any Midjourney image close enough to rival the FIRST image you made, it actually looks finished rather than whatever the hell kinda prompt you’d put in Midjourney and have to accept it because you’re not in the position to complain,,, since you’re not the one making the image.
you should photoshop a picture of an actual jet, carrying a vintage van or something on the bottom. that would be cool! keep up the good work!
Idea for a video: use the ai to generate an image and use that as reference to create your own composition
I think the test is not 100% fair, since the prompting was a bit limited
the ai's did very well. but youre the winner
Adding a tiny bit of blur to the van would help sell the speed a little more.
This would actually be really nice to come up with compositions for real artwork. Just to see it kind of as a rough draft and get some basic ideas and placements for stuff.
Yeah you can actually draw the most simplistic sketch ever, blocking out where you may want things to be, and put that in external AI gen software and it will then use that to create your immediate composition based on what you ask of it. You can then choose to edit it and take it further or use it as a concept.
@@maverick9860 This is when AI is used for good and not bad. I have some skill with photoshop but I'm not the most creative person in the world. But using it like this, I can get a rough outline of a concept in my head and see it before I make it so I don't end up wasting time making something I don't like. really useful.
I'm glad that you switched from "AI is bad" to "It's just here to help us out", even if it's just a sponsored video featuring Adobe generative fill/Firefly.
I really hope, that Adobe AND artists continue their work in this direction. For me, Firefly and PS generative fill both lacks some necessary features that Stable Diffusion has. And I don't mean "legally questionable custom models"😅
Would be great to have more artistic input in addition to simple prompt, which gives you semi-random result. Hope they'll eventually add something like controlnet and stuff, some ability to set up a pose for character(s); sketch or block out scene in 3d and render depth map in a Blender, for exaample, to use it as a basis for ai generation; etc.
Since it's a sponsored video, I'm not sure if there will be a "sequel", but I really hope so. Benny, please, make a third attempt to this, but combining these technics: using AI to get a starting point and a kitbash parts, and then applying artistic skills to turn it from "oh, that's kinda interesting" to "wow, that's a masterpiece" state =)
P.S. Also, IIRC, Generative Fill can not only produce new elements, but also alter already existing images, if selection is semitransparent. Can't confirm it though, as a Krita+SD user, who just saw this Photoshop tip in an accidental youtube recommended video.
I think a lot of people who don't see the benefits of A.I. will see it soon.
Instead of taking days and hours to recreate every element, people can cut down the time to create illustrations.
A.I. is not perfect, but it will help with creating final illustrations. For example, I know I struggle with hair.
The cinematic, flowing, blowing type that you see on some book covers. Now you can minimize the time to create
those hair effects by using A.I. and allow you to match it to your style of creation, e.g., drawn, painterly, sketch etc.
Good tutorial as always. :)
I imagine the Scooby Doo team riding that 😂
(The van on train tracks)
So glad you’re making more videos on the main channel again!
Benny - you do all sorts of challenges with stock photos. It would be amazing to watch you do the same thing with AI-generated elements. Generate different Firefly images and combine them all using your editing skills. Here is an example. Use AI to generate the following images:
- Farmhouse
- Tombstones
- Pumpkins/Jack o'lanterns
- gnarled tree
You get the gist. I think it would be very cool and freeing to generate your assets with AI, but let the composition and lighting be your domain.
😁
Learning how to actually write the prompts would be beneficial and also give better results
I think AI won't replace artists but help support some of the details that's just too tedious to do.
Benny I'm so glad you're back! and this video was sth that I really needed to see ! please never stop creating, you inspire many artist and definitely AI can not do that! Loved this video, and Hope to see you more in this channel
Literally today I was going to give myself a heart attack over AI, but now I'm inspired! Never underestimate the power of your inspiration, Benny! Thank you very much for your hard work
oh my god!, i wasn't expecting this, i thought the recent video was the last, but THERE YOU GO!, thanks for this one dude!
People. Companies being pro-artists is just marketing. Big companies know perfectly that AI is gonna keep exponentially evolving and replace most artists in a couple of years. Marketing themselves with the "it will always just be a tool to help artists" is only the best way they found to keep artists having faith for their future (not changing careers) and keep paying for their programs while in this transitional AI-non-supremacy era or what you wanna call it.
I have a theory that fully automated AI art will not be the way of the future tho for a reason, ill explain. As technology develops, specially those neuro-link type brain interfaces and other AI algorithms, we will have other ways of expressing our creativity and imagination. What companies will always try to do is make u feel like whatever new tech comes, its not doing all the work for you but just the "heavy work", and the important core creativity that matters is yours only, just like they did when they created old Photoshop with all its fancy automated tools, now AI-Photoshop with even fancier tools, etc, all striving to help you translate your ideas into reality. I think in a couple of years the new thing will be an AI that translates your direct imagination into art. So instead of text-to-image its brain-to-image. You look at a white screen and think of something, and it appears on the screen - note this already exists yes (there was an AI conference were they used Stable Diffusion AI to translate the thoughts of someone looking at a giraffe, into an similar giraffe image, and also one decrypting the persons internal monologue as they watched a few sec movie clip!).
All this to say that companies will always try to convey or go after the narrative that makes them the most money both for the future and on the present. It not even a question if AI art will be orders of magnitude much more artistically capable than humans than today in a few years. The question is, what will be the narrative of what "matters" at that point. Will human creation still be more valuable, or will we have just willingly accepted the extremely high quality of self generated AI content as enough. Peace out.
Its not farfatched at all, with what they can already do with brainwaves
The desert background is from my hometown Wadi Rum, Jordan :)
I would like to see you redo this episode again. The new Ai form Adobe can take your image for inspiration, and get you closer to what you are thinking of designing. Plus the water marks are gone.
Killer work!! Only thing I would add to your van on tracks would be motion blur
Use the following prompt in Dall E 3 or Midjourney v6:
a vintage Volkswagen van painted with vibrant graffiti, equipped with a jet engine on its roof, speeding along train tracks amidst an explosion of rockets in a dramatic sunset landscape.
Benny where's Benny's Spooky Edit War 2023? It's so exciting to watch what people can do with their hands!
It is a turbine, not a jet, it is not a retro van, it is a Volkswagen type 2, many things must be described well to have good results
انت محترف في كل شيء، لا استطيع استيعاب جودة التصوير والخلفية والإضاءة والألوان،انت ملهم
Hi ! Just to say that you should put the volume
of your videos a little but higher ! with a speaker at the max level it feels kinda low
AI will never replace artists. Not necessarily because it can’t, at some point it will probably learn how to create art on the same level as humans. But it wouldn’t it just be kind of stupid? Shouldn’t AI and technology be used for heavy labour, so humans can then be the ones creating art? AI can still be used as a tool, but it’s sort of counterintuitive to replace human art entirely.
I have a really good video idea where you use Dalle 3 vs your skills! I would love to see that!!!!
Benny art🔥😮💨
Bro, I have a suggestion. If you color-grade the background or the primary image, the generative fill might produce images that match it better. it'll look even nicer."
AI metod + Bennys metod = 200% result
The AI is improving rapidly. Just imagine the possibilities in the next five years. Regrettably, it's only a matter of time before AI potentially supplants artists.
I dont think it will supplant artists, just moreso become their tool of choice. As good as AI is, there still needs to be good creative intention in the AI prompting.
That would take a long time. AI isn´t creative, and it doesn´t have and probably never will have feelings and emotions. It also never has a taste. Which is why humans will almost always be more creative than any computer. The artstyle of AI will also probably be very little nuanced and different, and over time it will create things that have one type of style. It is possible in the far future, but we are far from that.
I tried the same prompt in Bing Create and it was very good on the first try. Adobe's AI isn't as good as Dalle4 or whatever the latest Open AI one is called.
In the future, there will be no need for money or commerce. We will be able to make anything we want for nearly nothing at all. The only value left to us is art. Music, Dance, Painting, Sculpture, Weaving and a host of other beautiful things.
You should do you vs DALLE 3. It’s the best ai image generator ever.
No AI can make Artwork better than Benny
Just looks like the ai is great at making stock photo looking stuff since it was trained using stock photos
don't forget that this technology is rapidly improving. so in the future it will be even better.
