I have owned a Rubicon and now own a Ranger Raptor and a Jimny. Rubicon is best on rock and snow. Jimni loves difficult tracks and is all round fun. Raptor is best on long range fast journeys over sand and gravel. For practically as a family vehicle to take wife and two kids on picnics and to shopping malls it the Raptor.
all i keep thinking is, Jimny - small - neat - fun on road & off - capable - cheaper - good kit straight from the showroom [gives you room to add stuff] - petrol not diesel [plus for the environment] goes anywhere - cute as & if you want something that'll do all that & you live in the country like I do & you don't need to pack a family or go off road camping, but you do want to handle dirt, a blt of mud on steep driveways & bitumen, up to a 100km range, Well????? just sayin'........... P.S me mother bought the 1st gen Jimny 98 or whatever & my brother was still driving the little bugger last time 'bout 2016 roughly, still tootling along like a little rocket! wonder if the Raptor or the Rubicon would, was pretty good on servicing & parts too......... just sayin'

Lungo the Boston Terrier, I did but ESC only ever stays off (disengaged) in the Jimny when you're in 4WD low range. Bruce Kendall Not sure...there is a reason nobody use a Jeep to cross Africa or even to cruise in a wild life park there. The people there use other cars and it should be for a reason.
@ Bruce ... Been to the sarangeti and I haven't seen any Jeep but mostly Toyota and some defenders. While in the wild side of SA, it's like a suzuki exhibition.
I'm from africa, and while there is nothing specifically wrong with a jeep you have to remember over here it's a luxury brand because its no locally made and parts need to be imported making everything SUPER expensive. No here people who need to get places with no fuss drive Toyota's, nissan's, and some landy's.
Did he say the Rubicon has a 1 star safety rating, and the Jimny a 3? How on earth could the jeep be so bad. Ontop of that, tromped by the Jimny. Also notice the 100 series at 4,38. In 15 years you would be lucky to see either of the trio tested as the go to vehicle for getting the crew around.
Nearly part exchangedo my new jimny for raptor glad I didn't it's superb and ultra reliable and cheap to run it'll be still going when others are in scrap yard. The jeep n raptor are fantastic but cost mega money to buy n run novelty wears off they're also way to complicated
I think the Ford Ranger Raptor did the best in the group in my opinion because it is a good Ute for driving around and it is a proper All-terrain vehicle for high speed running, hard core off-road Ute and it is a not bad ride to have wile you are doing your daily jobs. That’s my opinion
The jimmy is good but on road you have to make some sacrifices. In my opinion the Jeep is the best one for the money excluding the jimmy since it didn’t come to the USA but the price needs to be better when considering a Jeep or ford truck
Firstly tyre pressures... setting a 1.1 ton vehicle's pressures to the same as a 2.3 ton vehicle is a joke. Rather set all pressures to half of what the manufacturer recommends for road use. This a workable pressure in most off road conditions. Secondly the Traction control is set to run at higher speeds than you would use in another vehicle. No the Jimny is no where near as refined and smooth as the big vehicles, but when they run out of talent, the Jimny will keep on going.
Victor Rundle, the Jimny's road tyres set at 13psi (half of recommended minimum road-use pressure) might have given it a modicum of extra traction (but I doubt it in those conditions on those tracks), but dropping tyre pressures certainly wouldn't make the Jimny any less precarious in deep ruts and holes, wouldn't give it any more ground clearance or wading depth, and wouldn't be any sort of substitute for a diff lock. The point of the vid is not to run down the Jimny but to show all of the vehicles' strengths and weaknesses, to see which one is most comfortably capable off-road. As I mention in the vid, aftermarket tyres and suspension would make the Jimny even better than it is as standard. I like it, it's quite capable and a lot of fun. Thanks for watching and commenting. I appreciate you taking the time. - Crafty
@@carsguide As regards wading depth, I think Suzuki is just playing it safe. It will quite happily ford water 700mm or more. But like with any other vehicle you run the risk of damage to wheel bearings, alternator, starter etc. It also doesn't have diff breather extensions, so the diffs are likely to take on water. I've done a couple of mods to mine (50mm lift and 235/75R15 muddies), and it makes quite a difference in off road performance.

Cool test. I like that Ford and Jeep make an out of the box proper 4x4 variant with actual off-road tires and suspension. Something very much missing amongst the other manufactures who cover the standard model with macho bling but stick with mall tires and the standard suspension.. Also, FWIW, I bet the Jimny would be a heap of fun here in the High Country with a few simple modifications..
I live in the high country and own the Jimny, can confirm it's a blast up here :)
David Anderson, great points, mate. And it was a cool test - as in, loads of fun. Thanks for watching and commenting. Bloody well appreciate it. - Crafty
Adam M mate, post some footage, I’m keen to see some Australian Jimny content 👍
Thanks Crafty, everything you said is valid. The Jimny is small and nimble but you'll definitely feel that while driving, nothing wrong with that.
Just supply me with a California turbo diesel jimny and I'll be buying two.
IMO here's missing the toyota LC 200 in order to find wich's the best offroad vehicle
despite the "stock" status of all the cars. good job to suzuki!
Video yang menarik dan menyenangkan.. saya pilih jimny, modifikasi sedikit, bisa sikat habis semua..
all i keep thinking is, Jimny - small - neat - fun on road & off - capable - cheaper - good kit straight from the showroom [gives you room to add stuff] - petrol not diesel [plus for the environment] goes anywhere - cute as & if you want something that'll do all that & you live in the country like I do & you don't need to pack a family or go off road camping, but you do want to handle dirt, a blt of mud on steep driveways & bitumen, up to a 100km range, Well????? just sayin'........... P.S me mother bought the 1st gen Jimny 98 or whatever & my brother was still driving the little bugger last time 'bout 2016 roughly, still tootling along like a little rocket! wonder if the Raptor or the Rubicon would, was pretty good on servicing & parts too......... just sayin'
Where is this test/training place?
jimny > nasa's spaceship and literally everything else 🤤
Carsguide you have upset a lot of jimny fans below 😂
Need to change the tyres on the jimny man.
I am owning a Ranger Raptor since about a month and i could not be any happier!.
Question is: What would Burt Reynolds drive?
Ha! Bloody funny, Ian! - Crafty
The title should have been "why you should buy a Ford raptor instead of jimny or jeep off-road"
Why is the Rubicon watered down for Oz? Smaller weird sized tyres, low fenders, and where is the 3.0 V6 diesel?
You mean the one that hasn't even been released yet in the US?
www.google.com/amp/s/www.motor1.com/news/368784/2020-jeep-wrangler-diesel-announced/amp/
Jimny Wins!! The other 2 cars are using offroad tires!! Not fair!!
If l wanted to carry tools and tow 3 tons l would choose the Ford Ranger, if l wanted a hard core off the showroom floor offroader l would pick the Jeep Rubicon, if l needed a small easy to drive and park in town 4x4 that could carry what l needed l would get the Jimny.
I think ford need a car like jimny
Jeep Wrangler Rubicon🔥
Why didnt he turn off ESP on the Jimny?
Lungo the Boston Terrier, I did but ESC only ever stays off (disengaged) in the Jimny when you're in 4WD low range. As I mentioned in the vid, 4WD high range is a better state of play for driving on sand, as it's less taxing on the vehicle. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment, mate. Appreciate it. - Crafty
@@carsguide the esp is irritating that you can't turn it off properly in high range. It turns itself back on when the speed of one wheel reaches 30kph, not vehicle speed.
@@vicrundle4661 love your jimny 👍
Go the Jimny ❤️
Only missed F-150
But anyway, cute comparison 🤓🚗
stradivarious hardhiantz, yep, the ol' F truck Raptor would be a humdinger. By the way, that's the first time anyone's used the word "cute" to describe a vid I've been in. Thanks for watching and commenting. - Crafty
Very nice test. Regards from Argentina.
Yes you did get it right sir.
and the jimny is on road tyres, and factory suspension !
Jimny needs 6sp manual and 8 sp auto.
If I was travelling from south to north africa I would take the Rubicon. That Jimny will struggle taking on extra fuel which adds to weight etc.The most comprehensive fun 4x4 is the Rubicon.hands down.
No here people who need to get places with no fuss drive Toyota's, nissan's, and some landy's.
can i get all 3 for 100k?
Ahh why couldn't you be our life coach Crafty? Entertaining as ever. Pity the Jimny gave up on the diesel manual. Also it needs a 6 speed anything.
Grudlin74, my life advice is pretty dodgy, mate! and - good point. Thanks for watching and commenting, mate. Appreciate you taking the time. - Crafty
Did he say the Rubicon has a 1 star safety rating, and the Jimny a 3? How on earth could the jeep be so bad. Ontop of that, tromped by the Jimny.
Also notice the 100 series at 4,38. In 15 years you would be lucky to see either of the trio tested as the go to vehicle for getting the crew around.
wow jimny with road tires... definitely better
Nearly part exchangedo my new jimny for raptor glad I didn't it's superb and ultra reliable and cheap to run it'll be still going when others are in scrap yard. The jeep n raptor are fantastic but cost mega money to buy n run novelty wears off they're also way to complicated
The ranger raptor has monotube fox racing shocks, not twin-tubes, its internal looks like a twin-tube design, but it's not.
Jimmny the best,it last forever too
If they ever release the jimny in canada, i’d buy it in a heart beat.
Jimny all the way
3 vehicles I can't get in the US. At least not with the same drivetrains.
Who else thinks the Suzuki will outlast the other two in real world ownership
Rubicon!!!
I think the Ford Ranger Raptor did the best in the group in my opinion because it is a good Ute for driving around and it is a proper All-terrain vehicle for high speed running, hard core off-road Ute and it is a not bad ride to have wile you are doing your daily jobs. That’s my opinion
Nice video. I would rather have a half jimny then a crappy endless money pit jeep garbagecon lol
@@vicrundle4661 Great points, mate. Like I said, it's a bloody fun thing to drive and very capable. Cool mods on your Zook, did you do a wheel-arch/guard chop? - Crafty
@@carsguide some minor trimming of the front bumper was all that was needed.
i think the raptor won because i love it and if there will be a little adjustment it will be more infact if there was another word for more than it will be for it
U r 💯 % ✔️ Rubicon is Top
Mate you loose on your choice. One star rating and very unreliable. Ford, well look at how many are in for warranty, plus poor quality. Jimny has your audience vote , just look at the reviews below. I have a 2014 Jimny and it just goes and goes and goes anywhere. Never in the work shop because of a failure. If Ford and Jeep can be as reliable as Suzuki and go the long hall I’ll eat my undies. I also had a Suzuki Vitara short wheelbase hard top, done 257000 km and never gave me grief. My mate still has it on the road to this very day and all original. Gee what a bias review.
Yes you got it right
Toyota land Cruiser 70 series heavy-duty?...
CarAdvise already did that test
If you want to do that all day every day, I'd consider the Toyota. But this was a good pick of cars... And the winner indeed...
The fact remains that neither of the other 2 out performed the jimny. There was nothing they cld do that the jimny cldnt and nowhere they cld go that it cldnt... pound for pound it's the best
