My cat took a couple of weeks to get used to the harness. I made him wear it almost everyday for about 15 minutes each day. I haven't got him outdoors. Unfortunately, he is quite scared of what's going on out the door. So, for now he enjoys the balcony and gets used to the street's noises :) As you said... ALL CATS ARE DIFFERENT.
I got an 'H' harness for my kitten about a week or two ago, She's about 5 months old and loves being outside. When she wants to go outside I put her on the table and she just calmly sits and waits for me to put it on,I'm about to start teaching her to walk with a leash on,Hopefully that goes well too! Just shows how much kittens can learn in a week or two!
I got my kitten a blue harness today , he was kinda scared at first but soon just sat down and enjoyed some ear scratches and he then walked around , trying to work on the walking progress , I think he will do great :3
I've always walked my Maine Coons on a leash. I never saw any big deal about the harness. Just put it on him and leave it on. He'll get use to it. As far as actually getting him to walk on the leash, it's easy, especially with a kitten. Just hook on the leash and open the door! As long as he associates the walk outside with fun, you'll have no problem walking him.
My car was part main coon. She has a great personality. I always took her out she was okay right away. She loved it. She would purr as I was putting the harness on her. Very smart.
I'm moving to a different country in a few weeks and since this pandemic, I need to drive. It's 16 hours from where I live and I'm traveling with a hamster, and two cats. I got them a Harness so I can take them out for some air. Thank you! This was helpful.
We're on our fourth harness. First one was an itty bitty kitty size, and now we have a dog sized one! (Oliver is 6 now and a grand walker!!) Brilliant video! Cheers!
I’m getting a second kitten soon, hoping that training her goes well :) Our first cat is blind, so it’s a little sad she probably won’t be able to be trained too
I've been trying to trianing my 12 week old kitten Loki for about two months now. We go out all most every day. The only problem I having is getting him to walk with me/beside me. He often runs to climb a tree, chase something or play in a grassy field. He lays down, stops and go when he wants to. I don't pull on the leash to make him go. I've tryed treats and use a clicker when he meets people. It worked for meeting people and he often wants to say hi. However I want him to be able to go to the mailbox with me without having to carry him or it taking half an hour. How do I get him to walk beside me when I need him to when the treats aren't working? I live in a one bedroom apartment so space to practice inside is extremely limited.
Just got a reasonable harness that actually fits on my cat and I’m trying to leash train her it’s kind of hard to get her in the harness but I was able to get her in the harness with minimal trouble or scratching I’m hoping that I’d be able to get her to walk with me soon
Hi! Great video, really helpful! If you're taking your cats outside, what kind of vaccines/oils do they need? Thanks! :) Also, do your cats ever try to run outside because they're used to the outdoors from walks?
Thank you for this video. I am hopefully getting my first Maine Coon cat early next year, expecting kittens to be born at the of October :) your videos are very helpful.
Really enjoy watching the development of the respective cats. As a multi-cat household, you must have a wealth of experience to share with raising your cats so the last couple of videos with Luna have been really instructive. Whilst the product reviews are great, this is a welcome direction for the channel.
Be very cautious with dogs. We never let our cats down at the park if there are dogs nearby. And one of us always stands guard for dogs. Usually dogs should be leashed at a public park but there are always ones that are loose so be very careful.
When you’re walking your cat on a leesh and you see a someone walking their dog coming your direction on the footpath, do you advise walking the other way or another direction?
Yes! We usually don’t put our cats down on the ground if there’s a dog nearby. We pick them up until the dog is out of sight. It’s just too risky and you never know if the dog can run over without you noticing. That’s why we usually only bring one or two cats at a time to the park. Safety first!!
Right now my family and I are waiting to hear from the mainecoon breeder we are buying from but we are meant to get him before the end of the month and I can’t wait we have been waiting a year now
Pretty Luna...8 have a question. Do we need to open the harness when our cat sleep? How much time they use the harness a day? Or We let them wear it 24 hours?
Yes you can take it off when they sleep, it’s up to you how long you keep it on for but even 15 minutes maybe twice a day for a month should get them used to it :) depends on your cat but they don’t need to sleep with it :)
I have a question for you.. i have a brother and sister kittens. Both 4 months. But the problem with training them at the same time is they each learn and want to explore at different speeds but they also get really stressed when they are separated. So i am trying to train them at the same time but it's difficult.. any tips?
My Vannie i bought her harness, and tried to trained her to walked outside but what she did is walked like cangaro, and role over on ground. She not even walk at all..then i give up
My kitten is the exact opposite! I didn't even want to bring him outside but he would always try to escape so he gave me no choice but to harness train him.
Luna is a good model. She makes it look so easy. Love her.
I saw someone at my local park (small town, btw) take their pet OTTER on a leashed walk. So this is totally doable.😂
Wow! 😹
A couple years ago someone was walking a horse down my street on my birthday! Best accidental birthday surprise ever😂

Luna was so cute in this video and I loved hearing her voice her opinions at the end. Somehow I missed this video when it came out.
I’m getting a second kitten soon, hoping that training her goes well :) Our first cat is blind, so it’s a little sad she probably won’t be able to be trained too

Thanks! It's best to talk with your vet about what vaccines or oils your cat needs because every cat is different. Our cats never try to run outside.
@@lifewithmainecooncats Okay, thank you very much! Love your channel!♥️

Where did you get the cat tree with the bed?
So what about dogs? Im scared of them myself but im also scared that they will attack my cat and i rlly dont want that to happen
Be very cautious with dogs. We never let our cats down at the park if there are dogs nearby. And one of us always stands guard for dogs. Usually dogs should be leashed at a public park but there are always ones that are loose so be very careful.
@@lifewithmainecooncats but there are dogs everywhere?
What Greenies treats would you recommend? as I see in your video
Our cats like any of the Greenies treats! They go nuts for them!

My cat has no issue with a harness same with a collar, its just the walking i care about
Right now my family and I are waiting to hear from the mainecoon breeder we are buying from but we are meant to get him before the end of the month and I can’t wait we have been waiting a year now
That’s so exciting! We’re so happy for you!
What I think when walking my cat on a cat leash: she still wants me to carry her👁👄👁
BIG FAN! we just got a beautiful boy (any advice)
Thanks! You may find answers to your questions by watching our videos. I try to be as helpful as I can in them!

Aww. It takes time and patience!
Cute omg❤️❤️❤️
Is 13 weeks to late to start? It's a Ragdoll female
Nope, that’s the perfect time to start!
My kitten gets very scared and starts meowing as soon as we bring him outside :(
Aww it sounds like he just needs more time to get used to being outside!
My kitten is the exact opposite! I didn't even want to bring him outside but he would always try to escape so he gave me no choice but to harness train him.
But what if my kitten doesn’t like treats?
Then you can try toys or something your kitten likes!
The neighbors watches me walking a cat they call the police.
🙀
That’s horrible! People gave me stares yesterday and today when taking my new kitten to the park. So sorry that happened!
My cat is roughly 7.5 months old.But he’s still old, I guess? Will I be able to train my cat if it was younger?
7.5 months is not old! I think you can train a cat of any age with some patience!
Someone’s a Harry Potter fan :p
Now that my cat goes outside it needs shots all the time because I can pick up any parasite from the neighborhood cats.
