I Reached the REAL SOURCE of the GANGA River - JiemaYangzong Glacier on my way to touch Mt. Kailash.

  • Everyone knows that Lake Manasarovar is the source of the Brahmaputra River, but few knows that the river’s true origin lies beneath the majestic peaks of Mount Kailash at the Jiemayangzong Glacier. On my journey from Lhasa to Mount Kailash, I drove 50 kilometers off the G219 main raod, traversing deserts and uninhabited areas to visit the Jiemayangzong Glacier-the true source of the Brahmaputra, which nurtures Asia’s greatest river. It is hard to imagine that the roaring waters, which surge through the lush forests of eastern Tibet and flow through the plains of India before eventually emptying into the Indian Ocean, originate from these snow-capped peaks and layers of glacial ice. This is where the lifeblood of Asian humanity begins.
If Lake Manasarovar’s waters are revered and worth the long journey to Tibet, then its source, the Jiemayangzong Glacier, is even more magnificent and full of vitality. It deserves to be visited on your way to Mount Kailash and Lake Manasarovar. I fondly refer to it as the real source of life for humanity in Asia.
In addition to seeking out the source of the Brahmaputra River, I also visited the border between Tibet and Mustang region of Nepal at an elevation of 4,700 meters. Here, expansive pastures abound with thriving cattle and sheep, where lovely border Tibetan people and bustling Nepalese merchants coexist. Nestled deep in the Himalayas is a vibrant agricultural market. From this beautiful, vast, and fertile border pasture, the breathtaking views of the 8,091-meter Annapurna snow peak and the undulating mountains are simply magnificent. This is a scenery that ordinary tourists seldom see, and I hope that when you travel to Mount Kailash in Tibet, you will visit this place, which can become another unforgettable highlight of your journey to the western Tibetan Plateau.
Finally, I arrived in the town of Tarchen at the foot of Mount Kailash, where I will start my second journey to touch the mt. Kailash since 2020.
If you're planning a trip to Western Tibet and the source of the Brahmaputra River, feel free to reach out to me for assistance, contact me at jamyangtour@gmail.com, I will plan it for you.

    About Me - Jamyang
I am Jamyang, and I have been working as a tour guide with Tibet Vista Tour for 15 years. In 2020, during the Covid-19 global pandemic, I lost my job of being a tour guide, with the support of the company, I immersed myself in filming videos and documenting the culture of Tibet. My goal is to share the beautiful landscapes of Tibet, Tibetan culture, and the genuine and enchanting lifestyle of the local Tibetans with people around the world who love and care about my beloved hometown Tibet. If you plan to visit Tibet, be sure to get in touch with me. I can show you the best and most authentic Tibet.

Thanks Jamyangla for showing the source of yarlung tsangpo, siang and brahmaputra. In school I studied in geography that direction of flow of river denotes tilting direction of the plateau. Hence I assume tibetan plateau is tilted largely from west to east except ngari region in the west which could be tilted east to west considering the flow of indus river.

    1) As per My knowledge from ancient scriptures and GOOGLE also holy river Ganges originates from Gangotri in Uttarakhand state of india .
    2) The Waters of rakshasha tal or ghost lake that you drinked is not meant for drinking as its not sacred as per ancient scriptures in india just for the knowledge at the end its own personal choice.
Thanks again for this amazing video and cant wait for the next vlog of mount kailash. ❤

Yes, Ganga originates from Gangotri in India , infact Ganga is not formed from a single source but sources from various glaciers in India with confluences of various rivers along the way. Devprayag is place where Ganga is finally formed at confluence of Alakananda and Bhagirathi river.
Jamyang is referring Brahmputra river which flows in India too as Ganga which is incorrect.
