Good timing Anna. I have been thinking of getting a reverb to replace my ascend. I like how you explained the jargon then got into it. #ASKGMBNTECH A video on dialing in suspension with jargon explained and shots of suspension movements explained would be great. Like: this is high speed compression and this is what it does or this is what linear looks like versus ramping up.
If you real want max drop try to make it so the collar sits right flush with top of the seat tube and still extends to the full height you need which could mean getting one that needs shims to reduce it's extended height. However you can't all way's do that because of things like seats hitting the rear wheel at full compression. Often tall rides will have more seat post sticking out than they should and in fact could have a longer dropper so you get that seat way out the way when needed.
The max extended height, and insertion length, for the overlap sticking out past the seatpost collar. The frame design and bike size are going to determine the dropper size, and the extension. It's gonna be a compromise in some situations. My hardtails have an advantage, even at different tube lengths and bends. Going with a 210mm dropper for the difference between them. Even still, a regular seatpost can be more beneficial, just not as convenient. So stop and drop it.
If you already have a dropper, you can drop it completely and measure from the bottom of the collar to the saddle rail to find the measurement to add to the drop to find the max stack height.
Stumpjumper's are really bad for insertion depth because of the way the frame is and the bolt bosses for the pivots. Buying a pnw loan dropper post that has 25mm of adjustment without tools save me on two separate builds getting things perfect.
Iv a 125 mm reverb stealth dropper on my full sus and a 125 reverb on my hard tail for the last few years and would never go back to a ridged seat post
Because dropper posts are ment to be used at full extension and/or compression, you need the dropper's travel to either match or be slightly shorter than the distance to the frame, also as a bonus you get to save some weight. You would need to consider saddle height too since if you swap it you could end up offseting thr required travel, it's not a bad idea to leave some extra space just in case
You are asking why would someone want a perfect fitting dropper post and the ability to also save weight on their bike? I would say you should never have children and keep the gene pool cleaner @InfectAion
You can fit 200mm dropper in a small size hardtail if you are lucky. I got lucky and I have a perfect saddle height with space between seat clamp and dropper "crown" being only 1.5mm. It's so ridiculous it almost look like BMX bike 😀
Havent used a dropper in 34 years of mtb. My new build doesnt have one. Only 1 situation in recent memory where I would have wanted one. To me its just more dead weight on already porky bikes. All I have to do is stand on the pedals and my seat drops. Another Industry "must have"😂
You can ride with rigid seat post, but compared to riding with dropper, those techniques are slower, unnatural and more dangerous. Those are not riding techniques, those are survival techniques.
What size dropper do you have? Would you be happy to ride without one?
200mm fox dropper post.
Never used one in 34 years. Dont feel any need for one.
Rockshox 75mm for eGravel.
Thks, well explained.😊
I bought my wife a Polygon D7 size small, it came with a 150mm dropper, I had to drop down to a 100mm setup to get her fitted.
Given the blowout pricincing on the last gen Fox Transfers, this video is perfecrly timed.
where? All I'm seeing is Fox droppers that are $200+
@NonLegitNation2 Jenson has kashima version for 170 ish
Planet cyclery has performance for 87

One up is great for this
@@FOTB407 yes they are isn't what currently run but, personally would highly recommend them as I ran one previously and it was great!

😎great video, got the brand x accend 2 170mm dropper, sometimes in temperature changes it can get stuck, any suggestions please anna👍😉
Get it serviced IMO
What is the model of this Ergon saddle?
Anna's using the Ergon SM-Women's saddle :) They're available in Men's fits too
Anna’s helmet strap always looks very loose, is it safe? I get that this can be more comfortable though.

Learning without one of these shows you good technique, how your weight doesn’t need to be back for descents or rock gardens,
#AskGMBNTech Just got a new bike! Its my first bike with an air fork (Rockshox 100mm travel) What should my sag % be? Thanks!
10% of the travel so 10mm.

Still waiting my hugene frame..........
I'd say the absolute most L-XL bike frames should be able to fit in a 200mm dropper. Why even bother with a shorter one?

I have a 2023 giant trance x29 large and it has a 175mm travel post I couldn't have longer, I'm normally constituted 6ft tall...

OK roadie 🤡
Have you tried one?
I was with you until 3 years ago they're game changing
Or just learn to ride without one…..
@@Nugemart you enjoy your bike without a dropper post. And we'll enjoy our bikes with our dropper posts 😂
