One of my favorite videos of the channel. The Ghostworld TPB was one of the first collected editions I bought outside of Sandman and Preacher and I have no idea what compelled me to buy it. I had read it before and I liked it back when I was in highschool but I felt that there was so much that I was missing from it. Something about the art and the quiet panels just grabbed me and made me feel that the story was important enough that I needed to own it and figure out what it meant later on.
This is such a beautiful and melancholic story. The ending is perfection. Now that I'm older, I can relate to so much of it, I can remember moments that mirror some of the scenes here. Fantastic.

The other Flintstones park is near Williams Arizona. It was supposed to be closed and fully converted to a Raptor Ranch but I was just there and it’s still going.

I had seen the movie shortly after it came out on VHS, but my first introduction to Ghost World in comic form was in Eightball #16, which I got in a 4-issue grab bag at a dollar store sometime in the mid-late 2000s. I remember grabbing two bags and each had three Continuity Comics issues with a copy of Bucky O'Hare #2 inside.

Best video you have done in a while. You can hear your affinity for the material and it's cool to hear your personal nostalgic moments and stories.

Gonna make it a yearly tradition to pop in here just to hear Jim get worked up about the destruction of the word 'literally'. So true.

One thing not mentioned at the very end...
As Enid approaches the Bus Stop at the end, you can clearly see the Graffiti-covered block of cement ["Norman"] in front of her. This means that this is the discontinued Bus Stop. So she is catching the same bus which "Norman", who is no longer sitting on the bench, must have caught. Could this be the "Death Bus"? The other option is, of course, that this is in the future, when that Bus Line has been re-instated.

I hadn't read this for a while, and I can't help but wonder now if Edith doesn't really leave town in the end, she's just catching a bus. Metaphorically at least, she's definitely heading off to a new life, but not necessarily in a literal sense. I don't suppose it matters, but it struck me.

9:02 The day after the Watchmen trailer, I spent 2 days biking all around Vancouver with my 14 year old son. They were all sold out. ... Does it count if I move the time bar to the end as "playing the whole video through?" I listen to your show on autoplay like a radio.

Ghost World has been made into a movie and is the saddest movie I've ever seen. Genius.

I randomly decided to watch the Ghost World movie on Showtime back in the summer of ‘03 and that’s what ultimately lead me to discovering alternative/underground comics.

I just e-mailed my LCS to pre-order the new paper back printing of the complete Eightball after watching your video. I missed it when it it was reprinted in 2015 in hardcover format because I had no idea who Clowes was. Thank you guys for hipping me to all kinds of comics that I would have otherwise never known about.

David Gates was in the band 'Bread' ... good band from the 70's. Slower music on the radio in the 70's a lot.

Love your videos, would be great if you do a video on 'Celebrated Summer' by Charles Forsman as a male counterpart to Ghost World, the ending of the book is really impactful, it hits you hard in a sad but beautiful way.

As a closeted trans girl who read this in college, (and was the same age as the main characters) this blew my mind. It was the first female-centered comic I’d read that captured how terrifying and ridiculous being that age is. Thanks for breaking this down! Keeps reinforcing how amazing your channel is for aspiring cartoonists.

So my Dan Clowes collection started when i came across The Death Ray, previously just knowing of the GW movie. Its one of my wife's favorites. After being blown away by Death Ray I went out n found GW and Caricature. I found they need to be read together to get the whole movie script. Just finished Pussey! and just like any other Clowes comic I was so damn interested in some ones life that I'd otherwise not care about.
