I lived in Horta in the 1960's as a youngster and whilst I've seen many videos of where I used to walk with my parent's I've not seen the views you filmed for over 56 years. What a wonderful surprise.
Muito obrigado meu amigo! 👏👏👏👏
Thank you so much for your encouragement. It's comments like this that keep me going. ❤️🇵🇹
Beautifully done! Thanks for bringing back so many wonderful memories.
Glad you enjoyed it!
My island where I was born🇵🇹🇺🇸 das ist eine schonnes insel.🇩🇪
It is indeed a beautiful island! ❤️🇵🇹
Great idea. Wonderful. Thank you.
Thank you! Horta is indeed a very unique place. Stopping there is a must when crossing the Atlantic by boat. You get those sailor vibes from the city in general
Great! Thank you!
Glad you liked it!
Where my Dad was Born. Horta, Faial. 😢✝️🕯🫡🫡🫡 R.I.P DAD
So much history in Horta. And personal history too ♥️🇵🇹
@PortugueseFlaneur I encourage you to go soon on a trip visit these beautiful place. Even Maderia island is a nice trip.👍👍👍❤️🇵🇹🇨🇦
I'm planning a trip to Madeira next months. Plenty of videos to come from the "Jewel of the Atlantic"! :D
What time of year was this? I want to visit when it is not very crowded, like this!
This must have been around the second week of August 2022. I'm not sure about the tourism seasonality in Faial. I know there's specific times of the year when big yachts flock from the Mediterranean to the Caribbean and vice versa, and they tend to make a stop in Horta
Obrigado!
A câmara é a do meu telemóvel Oppo.
The regional government should fix up some of the old and decrepit buildings, just a slab of paint would do well to not make them look an eyesore
Couldn't agree more. It's definitely a work in progress. The islands are only beginning to realise their full potential for tourism and digital nomadism. Hopefully it'll get better and better with time 😁
@@PortugueseFlaneur Os Açores are definitely the jewel of the Atlantic. Otherworldly natural beauty and such charming towns (which can be made even more beautiful by fixing the old buildings). I myself have been "fantasizing" about living in Horta lol 😊
@@believer431 im Portuguese and i hate seeing that too, love the islands.
If you like polished and new buildings, go to Dubai. I love the character of the old buildings, just like New Orleans, Pittsburgh, and so many American cities that have so much more character than new places! I am from Orlando, which has no character at all, except the older neighborhoods downtown, which are being ruined by new condos and multi-purpose buildings. I can't wait to see the old decrepit buildings in The Azores!
@@billb6886I get what you're saying. I myself love some traditional looking buildings more than empty, soulless skyscrapers. What I'm saying is that the run down buildings could be repaired or painted a bit to make them look better
