- FMS/Roc Hobby have pulled out all the stops on their latest, large scale, hard-body RC, the Mashigan! It looks a lot like a truck I've seen before but I can't put my finger on which one it is. I agree...as a former AMC/Chrysler employee of that era, this is a really legit looking rig. I also like the way the suspension is flexing and bouncing. Sure, it's not leaf spring, but the ride of this compared to the (vehicle that shall not be named for licencing purposes) is not that far off. Now, as a former AMC alumni, it's no CJ, but then we said that back then about these too. bawwwhaahaaa....
Dear Matt, I too owned a YJ ('93). It too was a Sahara Edition. Although the paint was the forest/royal green. Held onto that truck for 30 years until I sold it to my IT guy from work. Good and Bad of this. Truck is still in fantastic condition, But it's like seeing your Ex make out with your friend. Sure you're happy for them but it still stings a little. Love All you do for us. Thanks Again! JEEP HAVE SQUARE HEADLIGHTS!

Great video Matt! Your transformation turned an already good looking truck into amazing scale model! I would have loved to have seen it side-by-side with a Traxxas TRX 4 Bronco or some such to get an idea of its actual size.
Finally, RocHobby has released it in 1/10 scale. I like that it looks like a YJ jeep

I own the Jeep in the thumbnail, the original, 1990 YJ. The name of the color is “khaki metallic”. The color code is PJ5. You have to be careful ordering PJ5 though, because it’s a code for two different colors. But I must say, you did a fantastic job of matching the paint. I know it’s not exact, but it’s damn close. The roll bar covers are tan, but so is the dash, so.. It still looks good.
Chuck Mashigan was the designer of the YJ Jeep therefore the name ( its also not a licenced body 🙃)

Looks like a 91 jeep renegade, I have one in red and i was stoked when I saw this!! The fenders on the front is what gave it away for me.

It is what it is: a HOBBY - RC Car , it is NOT a comp.Carl, NOT a thing from a established „Brand“ and the Price is absolutely fair,i think.(Just for comparison: ONE LITER Gasoline costs TWO € in Germany at present, thanks Greta and Putin!) I „drive“ my FMS 1/6Willys with HW1800 Combo ,90mm P&L Shocks… Lots of fun… 😊

My step-dad in the service had a YJ, he loved that thing so much but every month something needed repaired, doesn't have it anymore, retired a while ago, but I'd love to buy him this for Christmas I know he'd love it, just wish it wasn't sold out. Awesome review!!

you can flip the axles on the jimny to move the axles under the leafs, there are videos on doing it, adds 3/4 inch lift

Hey Matt, I'm sure you know why they call this truck a Mashigan by now but If you don't it's because the designers name was Chuck Mashigan, so it's named that for a good reason... fun fact.

Honestly, the old YJ running around without a spare on the back makes it more accurate, at least to what I used to see around here when the YJ was still fairly common.
If I get him, I’m sure it’ll be a Jurassic Park version.

One thing I really like in the 1/10 - 1/6 size RCs especially if they have the hard bodies is the suspension articulation. The smaller, lighter trucks just bounce too much

I didn't realize when I first started watching that you are in Toronto. It's annoying to me that a company will send products to a reviewer no problem, but not allow me to buy one in the same country cause all off a sudden Canada is on a moon of Jupiter and shipping is impossible. They now show as sold out although my brother tried to get me one for Christmas day one they came out. I watched other videos where they sent them to reviewers in the UK, and then wouldn't ship there either. Ridiculous. You'd never know this was 2022 and the world is more connected than ever with these 1800s shipping ideologies.
I would 3d print a 78 grill and make it a golden eagle. A guy in town had one when I was a teen and I absolutely loved that rust bucket.

I worked in the detail department at a Chrysler dealership in Phoenix back when these were out. We would spray the lot cars off each week as part of our job. There was an emerald green and gold Sahara edition on the lot that got extra special attention until the day it sold. My dream Jeep! I might have to buy this one.
Did you know that I worked at the Chrysler Plant in Brampton, Ontario when I was in high school and college? Wasn't lucky enough to work on the Wrangler, but it's always been one of my favourite vehicles... until it got stolen! Bringing back the memories!
