This band is literally all I've ever needed in a band. It's weird how much I love their overall sound: interchanging vocals, breakdowns, and instrumental tuning (etc.). It gets me so freaking pumped that I want to (quote from a guy I spoke to at a BMTH concert) "bang my head so hard that the third vertebrae down my spine pops out of place and then crack it back in place and continue to head bang."
I miss this. This album was perfect. I don't care about softer or harder music. But what I do care about is passion, feeling, work ethic, diversity. This album had all of that. There was so much passion and feeling in all of these songs. It didn't sound like it was thrown together and rushed. And there isn't another band that sounds like this. There will never be another Crown The Empire. As a Singer/Songwriter myself, the lyrics are beautiful in every song. Retrograde, there's none of that. I don't feel anything towards the songs. Hoping for another change in Crown The Empire. Hoping it's just an identity crisis and they get it fixed.
this was such a great comment and I was agreeing with all of it until the end... you realise that A) it's their music and they like the way it sounds and B) just because you don't find yourself in the lyrics does not mean no one else does.
Nøt Jøsh Dun I 100% agree with you, and I've been listening to Retrograde more and more lately, and my opinion has changed. My problem isn't the lyrics anymore, it's the music behind it. The way it's recorded. When I watch them live, I feel everything that they say, but with all the layers over Andy's and Dave's voices in the recordings, I can't feel it. The songs sound so much better live. The way they've recorded the songs, I can't hear their raw sound, and I don't put that on Crown The Empire, I put that on Rise Records. I apologize for posting a comment that sounded ignorant, I should've done some more research, gave the album more of a chance. Thanks though ^_^

I have seen a lot of bands live, but Crown The Empire is the best. Not only in their performance (vocals, guitar, etc.) but how they always manage to hype the crowd. They are just walking around saying Hi to fans and do free meet and greets. They are absolutely amazing and so humble and nice

Am i the only one noticing both Andy and Dave are not really holding their notes as long as they did the in the recordings compared to them playing live?
this is the recording. it just shows them playing the song live its not the actual live version.
Well in recordings they can hold the note obviesly, but during their live performances they are running around and jumping a lot causing a loss of breath. So that's why it looks like that.
It's not even synced anyway. They just filmed the band live and then edited it to the music for the video. Whoever did the editing obviously tries to make it look in sync but it's not lined up so these discrepancies are inevitable
