I had all three on VHS for many years, until the tapes deteriorated. I love the scene where Tuco is in the bathtube, and the guy he shot at the beginning of the film finds him, explains how he had to learn to shoot left handed. Tuco proceeds to shoot him first, having his gun hidden in the bubbles. Then he says the great line "If you're going to shoot, shoot! Don't talk!"
I went to "Sad Hill" in 2022. It still looks terrific. Nobody's asking for money, and you can just drive up to a little parking area in the middle of nowhere and walk into the site. It's somewhere close to Contreras in Northern Spain. My Dad worked nights. He'd take me out of school when this movie came on during the day and we'd watch it together. I think I've seen the movie 40 times.
These great western gun slinging film's I loved watching them late at night in my school holidays and lee van clief the one with special guns and fittings they were all great films to watch 😮😊.
All I do know is that 'The Good The Bad And The Ugly' is my personal favorite movie. If I had only one movie in my movie collection, that would be the one.
This film is an example of films with a perfect music background. The music does not try to dominate the film, instead it enhances the scenes. Very powerful.
The Budget for the film didn’t allow for the hire of an orchestra so Ennio Moriconi used, a Jews harp, , a trumpet, cannon fire, a guitar and human voices to create that iconic unique and long lasting theme music .
SergioLeone breathed new life into the fading Western genre during the sixties. Eastwood may have been the pinup boy but Eli Wallach and Lee Van Cleef shine as co-stars adding some superb characterisations of their own. Leone’s skill in blending the disparate elements of movie making into a satisfying whole is occasionally matched but rarely surpassed. Henry Fonda a veteran of some classic westerns got on board for Once Upon a Time in the West. As did Dirty Dozen’s Charles Bronson who appears with Jack Elam et al, in the magnificent opening scene. Cinematic magic worthy of repeat viewings.
Eli Wallach could speak directly to Sergio Leone in French? His stock just went up in my book. In spite of his lust for playing despicable characters. That's pretty cool.
Last year I walked the Santiago de Compostela from France to Spain (500 miles) unfortunately I didn't realise at the time that Sad Hill was off of the path from Burgos and I could have visited. A missed opportunity sadly.
I still laugh about the scene when Tuco is standing up on the cross in the cemetary and you see a van drive by in the distance . The editors missed that one.
The way I understood it was Leone was trying to get Eastwood back for one of the films (I can’t remember which) and was having a hard time because Eastwood didn’t like working with him due to his experience in the previous film. Leone given to angry outbursts which Eastwood didn’t appreciate. So Leone sent over the Ferrari to try to persuade Clint to come over to Italy and work on the film.
While the Dollars trilogy wasn't intendedcas a trilogy, the main themes of the three movies are in the same key (D minor) and have other similarities to make it sound like it was intended as a trilogy. Other filmscores by Morricone sound quite different including for other westerns.
Here’s another one…the coyote you hear in the beginning of the good, the bad and the ugly is the same sound effect used in John Wayne’s movie Red River. You hear it just before the cattle stampede.
WAY back in 1966. I watched "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" as a double feature with "In The Heat of the Night" at a DRIVE-IN with my girlfriend. That was a LONG night from sundown until both movies were over. The Sidetrack Adventures YT channel has a video "A Journey to Sad Hill Cemetery from The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly". Its in Spain about 2 1/2 hours north of Madrid.
What about Blondie’s Winchester tha came intobthe marke a year after the civil war? And the cartrige colts that didn’t exist during the civil war when all revolvers were cap and ball exept for the imported scarce Belgian pinfire ones?
Sad Hill cemetery had way too much fresh dirt. All the graves look like they were just filled in the day before, which they were. The skeleton was decomposed but the dirt was fresh. The whole scene looked fake.
As much as I like Clint Eastwood as a person, I still find him to be a mediocre actor at best, and it's interesting that he was ultimately "replaced" with Charles Bronson, who is simply a bad actor. Leone may have been a decent director, but his eye for actors is perhaps flawed.

I had them all on vhs as well, but switched to dvd so gave away the vhs
Soon after that scene, my favorite line of the movie: Tuco: “I get dressed I kill him I be right back.”
I read somewhere he ad libbed that line.
That would be my phones and driving bumper sticker for those obviously distracted. "If your going to drive, drive, don't talk!"
If you have to shoot shoot don't talk. One of the best lines ever

Awesome, also 2022 is a year I certainly miss
My favorite western movie i grew up watching
Same here. When I turned 30 I made it a point to watch it once a year. It's like a yearly mantra for me.
These great western gun slinging film's I loved watching them late at night in my school holidays and lee van clief the one with special guns and fittings they were all great films to watch 😮😊.
A classic western that has gotten better with age.
Excellent! Some of my favourite films.
FANTASTICO FOLLOW UP INFO CONCERNING THE MOVIE

Awesome western movie

Thanks for the great comment, I agree with you 100%
Lee Van Cleef. Cool Priums song and vic.
A Spaghetti western icon, certainly of it's time. Wouldn't probably have been the same without the three main actors. Brilliant.
Eli Wallach could speak directly to Sergio Leone in French? His stock just went up in my book. In spite of his lust for playing despicable characters. That's pretty cool.
Sergio Leone is an Italian.
If you rearrange the letters of "Clint Eastwood" , you can spell "old west action '.
lol…badass.
That's awesome, thank you!
How did you determine this great fact???
@dogmandan79 I'm sorry, I really can't remember.
HAH!😂Putting "subscribe" inside the coffin they open is worthy of sub'ing, which I just did. Great touch!👍😎
watching this movie on grit right now
Last year I walked the Santiago de Compostela from France to Spain (500 miles) unfortunately I didn't realise at the time that Sad Hill was off of the path from Burgos and I could have visited. A missed opportunity sadly.
That is a shame, you now have an excuse to go back. Sounds like an amazing trip!
I still laugh about the scene when Tuco is standing up on the cross in the cemetary and you see a van drive by in the distance . The editors missed that one.
I went to the drive-in theater with my dad to watch this when it came out,
James hetfield from Metallica also helped with the rebuilding of the cemetery

Yet to see a better western. Cheers
It is the best one, still great today!

There all great movies. I don't have a favourite.
You forgot the part where Tuco almost gets hit in the head with the shovel at the grave site !! lol
I think the skeleton was used in Mash.
The man with no name????......his name was mentioned I believe 😊

Great movie, but any scene with Union or Confederate soldiers looks odd. In parched deserts? That aside. Magnificent and Unparalleled.
Blondie is the MVP with most kills! 😂
Okay, but after the bridge blows, why does every single soldier, on both sides… just disappear?
Of course, he has eleven kills. He's a Good shot!

Hello watched this on my outdoor shitter.
It doesn't matter where you watched it, just that you watched it! 😂🤣😂
