Will DRIED FLOWERS Sell??? At Our First Christmas Farmers Market
Вставка
- Опубліковано 5 жов 2024
- We've signed up for a Christmas farmers market, because we want to get some hands on experience with trying to sell some of the new Christmas items that we are hoping to add to the farm - dried flower bouquets, dried flower ornaments, and evergreen wreaths. But, if we want to have any luck at this craft fair, then we need to do the work! Join us as we harvest and work in the week leading up to the market, before setting up what might be my favorite market display of the year. Will we sell anything? Still around till the end to find out!

Only my opinion the wreaths just needed a ribbon so they can stand out or even a couple of baubles. Loved your dried flower ornaments very pretty Lia,s Xmas cards are a triumph Red roof family farm could start an Etsy shop.
What about one of the ornaments filled with the dried red chili peppers 🌶
Christmas ornaments with dried flowers . Excellent idea!!. You can make gifts and center pieces for weddings, birthdays and valentines day. With heart shaped clear molds filled with flowers. Also the ones that you dried in Silica makes for great gift idea. You can make an online store and ship out. We are all rooting for your business to grow. God bless
you can also dry rose buds red, yellow, pink next season. Will make for excellent keepsakes to remember that special day or bring nature indoors during winter months.
The ornaments would be lovely bridal shower thank you gifts. New business for you. They're very pretty.
I use the clear ornaments in my business as well. I’m a pet groomer, for a Christmas gift I put a lock of the pets hair in it. Then with a paint pen, I put their name and the year on it.
The wreaths need some pizzazz. Ribbons, berries, lambs ear, more kinds of evergreens like holly, cypress, spruce etc. Some other designers used crabapple. To sell, the wreaths need to look outstanding. I'm only critical because I want you to make money after all your work. Lia is your new star!
I thought FOR SURE you were going to make some wreaths with the bright cheerful colored flowers!!
I know those are not traditional Christmas colors, but hey, you are Queen of non-traditional, right!
Oh - how about a Chanukah wreath? All blue & white!
The timing is a bit late, but I think Jewish people would still buy them!
(And yes, some Jewish people DO peruse Christmas markets! Really, they do.)
And Christmas people do the blue themed Christmas trees too, so there's that.
And then there's an all Red wreath with just a touch of evergreen greens behind them... !
Oh! A Red & White wreath!
And- SO MANY MOOORE!!!
Go ahead & make the all Pink wreaths! Moms of Little girls will buy that as a gift for their bedroom decor!
The all Pink wreaths will sell for Valentines Day IF they don't sell at Christmas. Plus, by then, you've already made them, so they're kinda like easy $$$ in February!
At a Christmas market I would buy a "Springtime" wreath with all the cheerful Springtime colors like bright yellow, bright oranges, all the pinks, all the blues,(I really like the blues!) & purples (Don't forget the purples!).
- and then I'd save it for AFTER the holidays!
What a great way to brighten up those gloomy, grey, days ahead!! I prolly wouldn't want any of the russets, golds, & browns in that wreath tho...
I cannot get the glorious sight of all that Larkspur we saw in the box!!
A wreath of JUST Larkspur, (mixed colors) which is put together in the same fashion as a wheat wreath - OMG!!!
SOOOO FABULOUS!!!
Oh! Do you have enough Eucalyptus do do a whole wreath of THAT?!!
Bcuz I think people would like THAT!! Plus, it smells good too, so that's a bonus.
Here's a question:
What Christmas present do you buy a teenage girl who has gone goth??
Answer-
Black fingernail polish,
AND
A Black & White wreath!!
New wreath idea-
For this idea, you'll have to buy the wreath base, unless you've already got a grapevine, and what a great excuse to grow grapes this next year!
Ok - Here's the idea:
Those little, mini, grapevine wreaths- decorate with the flower heads, add a tiny bow, and hang those on the tree!
Wow.
That's a lot of ideas!
I didn't realize all that was hiding inside me!!
Now I just need to make a wreath emoji and I'm all set!!
❤💚❤💚❤💚❤💚❤💚❤
Don't give up on wreaths! Try adding some red strawflowers or white statice to some of them. We sold dried flower wreaths (no evergreens) back in the 90s (I know, I'm old) for $40, and now the same size and style we sold then sell for $100-$150. It is labor intensive, but this time of year maybe that's okay.
Yes! Adding color on wreath will be lovely 🥰
Yes, I was thinking why not add some dried flowers especially in the red/pink range?
Agree, some dried flowers would make the wreaths unique and beautiful.
And maybe pine cones?
I think the ornaments are great because you don't have to worry about dust settling on the dried flowers. I really like the mixed larkspur ones.
I believe they come in heart shaped as well and they look beautiful when they’re filled with dried flowers… you can actually get a marker or paint that comes out of the fine tip paint and write things like …faith, love, hope, blessing, scriptures, Merry Christmas etc.
I told you before that I had a dried flower business… little tiny swags make very good Christmas gifts… you can add three eucalyptus branches to the left and the right use some sweet Annie use floral wire and tie it in the middle of it… add dried flowers like larkspur with hot glue gun and other flowers… put a little bow in the middle and you got like a $25 swag. Open up a paper clip and hook it in the back of the swag and you hang it on the wall or your booth.
My other things that I added into Christmas wreaths… I had a dehydrator so I will dry a lot of apple and orange slices use them with dry pomegranates and cinnamon sticks with a festive plaid red bow. I would also use fresh holly
I grew dried flowers and sold them at a Farmer’s Market for 10 years. Your flowers are amazing. Incredible efforts you have taken. If you’d like any flower arranging tips let me know. It’s an extremely time consuming talent and took me years to actually end up with sellable items. We sold from Sept thru to Valentine’s Day. I used to say we “can’t compete with Spring and Summer Gardens!
What about adding a small ribbon to the ornaments in a similar color? More work, but more perceived value? Also, could you make a display with the ornaments hanging on a Christmas tree to show off how pretty they are?
Those were my sentiments exactly about the tree. I wouldn’t go to time for ribbon myself. A green tree with all white ornaments would be beautiful and catch attention. Battery powered white twinkle lights. Next year you’ll know to bring your own illumination! A good video.
agreed! a tree, and more lights! ...but no ribbons! =) The ornaments are beautiful! I would totally hang them on my tree.
The ornaments are beautiful! I would send a sampler to GARDEN ANSWER, maybe Laura will add them to her natural tree, and give you a shout out😍
Lia is so cute, and learning about the business young will shape her to be an awesome entrepreneur 💖
She did not add them to her trees...
The transparent Christmas decorations look amazing!
Grat job, even though it didn't sell, it was a great idea and a great attempt into expanding your sales, maybe they didn't sell because by December people tend to already have their ornaments in place. I was thinking that maybe next year in September or at the begining of October you could sell Autumn theme dried flowers wreaths, you can even include some small pumpkins in them, and people could buy them for their Autumn and Thanksgiving decorations. You already have the flowers dried, so maybe that could be another extra element to your stand. I love your creativity and your enthusiasm, keep at it.
If you could add some ornaments, bows and pine cones to the wreath it will attract more customers to buy. Good luck 👍
Yes, the ornaments are beautiful!!
I wonder if xmas wreaths and ornements sell more in late november
Try adding fresh cut winter greens, pine or cedar, whatever you can source there for free.... They look fabulous with dried flowers and collaring the brittle drieds with a soft outer bumper helps to protect them as well, wrap with paper and a festive ribbon. Also adding dehydrated orange apple pear slices and nuts, cones and berries work marvelously too. Ive worked with drieds and fresh for more than 30 years.. Lots of options!!
Workshop Idea: Make your own dried flower bouquet - have you hosted activities on your farm? I love watching and learning with you from Texas. I am in on the dried flower ornaments
Everything was just lovely! I can't believe how gorgeous those kale flowers are. I had no idea! And those ornaments were such a great idea. Lia is becoming quite the little entrepreneur! I'm glad she had success in her business venture.
Are you going to add dry flowers to the wreath? It will be beautifully. Watch hop along hollow as she does her wreath with dried flowers…
I love the ornaments. You could even go as far as adding a logo tag. Yes your mom is right about the color theme. Many people stick with a color theme for their Christmas trees. Keep up the great ideas.
Wow! Those kale flowers are gorgeous 😍
The petal-filled ornaments are sweet. I think they might be nice hanging in a window at any time of the year.
Not just for Christmas. They would make cute decorations for a window. With light coming through them.
LOVE the dried flower ornaments!
The dried flowers are really stunning.they retained most of their colours.
The wreath are sturdy, but need more add ons like pine cones, cinnamon etc.
I like the plastic ornaments, maybe you can find other seasonally themed containers or something else that is just decorative for all year?
And who knew Kale flowers were sooooo Pretty !!!!!!!
Everything was beautiful!! The ornaments are gorgeous. I would definitely order them on line if They were available.
Add some of those beautiful ornaments to your wreaths
It was a blessing that it was dry and you could pick what you needed. Those flower bulbs are amazing, I'm sure they'll sell great online!
Thank you! Now I'm inspired to dry flowers from my (small) home garden and make myself a christmas ornament each year to remember each gardening season :)
Add dried flowers to your wreaths or put one of the ornaments hanging in the center. Outstanding.
Serina, if you pull the loop up on the ornament top it will contract the prongs so you can just pop the top on. Then just press the loop to spring the prongs.
Lia is a gifted child inherited from gifted parents. The wreath are beautifully natural but needed some cosmetic like red ribbons and maybe some dried flowers on them so they can look distinguished. As for the dried ornaments they are unique and can be sold on line easily. Wishing you all the best of luck. 🌲🌲❄❄🛷🛷❤❤🙏🙏🙏
I loved the look of dusty miller in the large wreath! Great way to use what you have
The strawflower ornaments are impressive like ships in a bottle! I'd be puzzling how you got them in! :)
I love the dried flower ornaments, I’d definitely get a few. I live in SE Texas and shipping is horrible to send to the states. I’m envious of all the lettuce in your garden. Even though it’s December, our temps are still reaching near 80F. The lettuce bolts fast or taste bitter. I absolutely love your videos ♥️
I love this idea!! I will definitely be trying it next year 🎄
Have you tried shading the lettuce or maybe a cool house?
@@kingonyx2195 I have not. Thank you for the suggestion ❤️
Maybe offer a free ornament with a wreath. Everybody loves a gift.
The ornaments would be such a great gift, especially for a gardener!
So fun to remember the season this way
I’m surprised the market organisers didn’t have good lighting prepared for a night market. Your stall and products were great. Lots of great suggestion on here as well 🥰
Wrap them in brown bags. Just get brown packing paper cut it to size into a triangle shape and wrap them. That way it catches anything that does fall and the buyer could always arrange it once it gets home which I’m sure they will do anyways. At the same time you’re not losing the product and everyone is happy.
I love the ornaments. I would order some.
I love the ornaments!!. They would look great hung in my kitchen window all year long
The dried flower ornaments...Brilliant...Beautiful!
Every successful business needs some thing that stands out from the rest . Something to catch the attention of the eye of the buyer. It could be something as simple as an elegant bow around a glass jar.
Not falling into the same ol same ol’ thinking outside the box. Different is good. That could be letter emblems etched on the jar or chalk board clips. Dollar tree sell sees cute chalk boards that can clip onto anything. Tiny black boards. I use them in my floral arrangements . They are fun and versatile the more you go to the market the more you’ll see what buyers like . learn along the way. The most important thing is you’re putting yourself out there and that’s the one thing most people do not do. Fear is the one thing that gets in the way of truly ever starting what it is you desire. Kudos to you
Definitely would buy dried flower ornaments! Love that you did mostly monochromatic bouquets, love the maroon looking ones!!
I feel that alot of people prob have their Christmas wreaths around Thanksgiving , I would try them at your last fall market. Merry Christmas to your family, thanks for a fun summer/fall of watching and learning more about flower (and veggie) farming!
Love from Hastings, Mn! KJ
Potpourri sounds like a brilliant way to get a lot of inventory moved! or Put them in bottles with bubble bath soaps...
I can see you selling heart shaped ornaments with those flowers in them for Valentine's Day and Mother's Day. Add some strips of aged paper with sayings on them as well and they can be for any occasion. Offer custom ones for birth announcements, graduation, birthday, anniversary. Try out some dried berries and rose petals too.
Bouquets of dried herbs eg rosemary, sage and basil with a pair of tiny scissors attached with twine? They are a consumable which is a good thing.
I’m shocked you didn’t use dried flowers to make wreaths! Laura from Garden Answer has an excellent tutorial on lavender wreath-making and one on wheat wreaths, too. Highly recommend those. She makes it look so easy to just whip out a couple of floral or grain wreaths by hand with a wire wreath form and some paddle wire.
I absolutely love your christmas ornaments.
Another idea to sell your dried flowers: glassbottle-candleholders. You can put your dried flowers inside the bottle and put a candle on the opening of the bottle. Maybye put a nice ribbon on the neck of the bottle?
These you could sell all year long because they aren't neccesary christmas themed.
Love your channel. Keep going.
Greetings from germany.
How about dried flowers and herbs to make teas There is market for organic dried flowers and herbs such as rosemary, chamomile and hibiscus, lavender, rosehips to make teas and beauty products. You put in so much effort to grow high quality organic produce. The possibilities are endless for such quality produce.
You could also have wreath making classes. Makes a decent profit and folks will learn what to do with dried flowers and greens. More to sell more to buy.
You should make resin decor with the dried flowers.the ornaments are a great idea for anytime of the year
The ornaments nare so freaking GORGEOUS
I love the ornaments. I can also see people decorating with them for fall, hanging one in a window for example.
Just found you guys was looking up paper pots that was 2 to 3 hrs ago . With the wreaths try to arranging big up to the top of tent and the smaller one just under larger one .This will make people stop and look the longer they look the more they will see . If you guys are going to do night markets get some 12 volt LED fog lights to mount in the top of the tent .At the road side stand use your fence if you can . We freeze dry a lot of flowers for winter tea so all the flowers we plant do are edible .We get most of our seeds from Baker Creek rare seeds .They tell what is edible and easy shipping $3.50 on your order .You guy's can make small bags like 2 inch by 3 inch out of the damage dried flowers keeps from trashing them . On the van I know its a cheaper to drive than the truck make some shelf's out of 1 1/2 PVC pipe and for the decking on the shelf use PVC lattice . Use the lattice to hang from the tent legs for extra display space your paying for might as well use it .😀
Thanks sharing
Just a thought on your wreaths. Add a bow and maybe battery powered lights and up your price to 60.00.
You should look into Holiday craft markets. Usually they are indoors (and well lit), and people come wanting to spend money. One year I bought dried flowers at a craft show I was selling at, and I enjoyed them all winter long. I'd emphasize that aspect in your marketing. The bouquet that keeps on giving.
Easy to ship!
Do your usual bouquet wrapping. Then half fill the appropriate shipping box with styrofoam peanuts, set in the bouquet and finally fill the rest of the box to the top of the box with styrofoam making sure there is no room for the contents to shift around in which will prevent any potential breakage.
The wreaths are important to your display as a whole. Lia's line of cards, gorgeous as were all the dried flowers and decorations. Congrats on the first Christmas market. 🎄
The dried flower ornaments are lovely and can be used year round...
Dried flower wreaths would look very nice I think and like some people said, with a nice ribbon around.
I'm hoping to make some for this spring. No ribbon though
I'm all for hopping on the dried flower ornament bandwagon 🌼🌸🌺🎄🎄🎄
I love the ornaments, and they look great with one color, but they would definitely look great with two colors as well, maybe white flowers with another pretty bright color. Either way you can sell those! They are beautiful!
Love the ornaments. I'm sure there are other shapes of ornaments that you could utilize and sell all through the year especially in an online store.
I recently saw a photo of an entire Christmas tree decorated in dried flowers at a botanical location somewhere. It was stunningly beautiful. You could do wreaths like that with the greenery or even have a sample small Christmas tree decorated in all dried flowers that might promote the dry flower bouquet sales. Maybe consider centerpieces of greenery and dried flowers for tabletop use.
I'm in the EU. Wreaths here are generally much thicker, almost twice as big around the rim as yours. Makes them look full and plump. Also mostly older people who buy them here.
Those cards were the cutest cards I have ever seen! ❤️
I'm pretty proud of Lia
I use dried flowers for homemade paper making! Super fun.
Your dried flowers look amazing! I think putting dried flowers in resin over winter may be a good idea and can definitely help ship and expand the market for you guys!
Love the dried flower ornament idea! I will definitely be making some for Christmas. 🎅
Good job Lia, your cards are so nice! 😍
I love 💖 the ornaments! Very beautiful! Something I would use not just at Christmas.
The wreaths are my favorite but I agree with others that they need a bow. Love you guys. Merry Christmas!
Did you have much pressure with cabbage worms on the kale flowers? Beautiful!
Those tree ornaments doesn't necessarily have to be tree ornaments. I can imagine a row of them on a string for decoration any time of the year.
Oh, and another thing. You live in a rather dry area. If you seal the cap airtight, they will be protected from reabsorbing moisture in a humid climate.
I loved this video!! Thank you for sharing your beautiful creations 😊
Love the ornaments. My opinion on the wreaths is, I can buy a wreath with conifer sprigs anywhere but a unique wreath with mostly flowers, kale, etc is VERY unique and I would pay for a one-of-a-kind flower wreath.
You can also make dried flower jewelry the same way you make Christmas ornaments, only smaller.
My Mom would love the dried flower ornaments!
I do love the dried flowers in Christmas ornaments 💚
I think the ornaments would be very pretty hanging in a window year round.
I have seen spray painted thistles at farmers markets. Yes, they sold.
I love dried flowers; keeping the color is a challenge.
Oh, also have people pick out the flowers they want, so much a stem, and arrange for them.
String clear glass with dried flowers along sides of canopy or attach to wreath. Better lighting next year.
Love the ornaments. I think you’ve got a winner there. Wreaths are very nice. I think they would sell better with a bow or some ribbon woven through them. Do you have winterberry growing there that you could forage? Some berries really perk up a wreath. Even artificial ones would give them a pop of color. A little fuller would be better. Maybe some feathery foraged evergreen behind the spruce or fir that you are using. Also you could spray paint the yarrow white or gold or silver and sprinkle with fairy dust glitter. Don’t give up on the wreaths. After you play around with them for awhile everything will come together. You might even want to consider buying a case of greens from a wholesale florist supplier next year that are lighter green and not something that grows there. Something unusual that no one else is using in their wreaths. I found that velvet ribbon bows always sold better when I was doing wreaths back in the 70’s and 80’s. It’s not very expensive if you buy it from a wholesaler. Hope your roadside stand does well.
Excellent idea. I would definitely purchase those bulbs. Beautiful!
Those ornaments are beautiful. But I liked the multi colored one more than the single colors....
"Nothing ventured, nothing gained". So if you hadn't tried, you would not have knowledge. So you made some money and you have you have perspective. Great little cottage business for Lia, she gained some confidence. I would decorate the wreathes with xmas colors and forms. Also, try dried hydrangea flowers too. I love how they hold colors and such a variety of colors to boot. I dired some of the zinnias and hydrangea like left them alone till they dried on their own and I love the dried bouquet. I did not intend this and yet the forms and colors are amazing. I may tell this story on my FB with a photo. I wish you all well. I know you can make this all work out. I have faith in your abilities. Merry Christmas
Love the dried flowers in Christmas ornament idea!
Could you have a Christmas class there with flowers and let people make things with the flowers. Let them do the work and pay to attend.
I love the Christmas ornaments! Beautiful!
I would place Christmas ornaments first on your table to give them better visibility. They are beautiful.
You could also get the clear ornaments that open in half and place larger flower displays in them. They would be faster to assemble as well.
Cold weather to b doing work outside. Dried flowers look amazing
U 2 are great workers
Happy Christmas May Santa bring u all something nice🎄🎅💐🇮🇪
The ornaments are so beautiful!
I Love the Christmas ornaments !!! your Mom is right, aren't they aways ?!?!
I'm starting a Flower Farm in Rhode Island and you guys have been such an amazing inspiration for me! Absolutely LOVE all your videos!
If you have words embossed on the plastic or glass part of the ornament it can be specific to you. They are beautiful
Thank you so much for Sharie how are you decorated these cute little Christmas decorations they were all so cute when you were done thank you for so many great ideas and inspiration
Your dried arrangements and ornaments are lovely!
Well if you can have these ornaments ready by October or even September of next year I don't know if you can even fathom how many you will be able to sell in time for people to give them as gifts or for their own trees even! They are gorgeous what a wonderful idea.. ps how are your hands still so beautiful when you work and garden with them and have them in water goodness knows how many hours a day during the summer , not to mention them being in gloves and that could be harsh, just everything that you do with them!! they're very pretty.. same with the wreaths!!!!!!
Yep weekdays 3-6 here ,
, as people come home from work are steady times! great to see that the honour system is working for you as well!! Merry Christmas to your family from Cape Breton Nova Scotia!
recommend looking at Garden Answer wreath videos - they need to be fuller/tighter so that random branches aren't pokey out willy/nilly.
also - can you grow poinsettias where you live? I didn't see things I associate with Christmas decor - garlands, berries, poinsettias, pine cones, etc.
