OK, so this is Mischief Theatre. They have this series called the Goes Wrong Show where they portray the fictional company (Cornley) which puts on shows that always go wrong. They have somwhat fix characters (the one that always forgets his lines, the one that always gets hurt, the one who takes it too seriously, the stage manager...). If you enjoyed this you should watch their other Christmas specials (Christmas carol and Nativity) and their series (two seasons with a few short episodes), they are really hilarious and so well done
hoowever online you can find the watch alongs witth the cast where they point out actual mistakes and the real things that went wrong but people thought where part of the act
To get a bit more clarification - thr lovely elderly gentleman is one of THE British actors, David Suchet, who got famous for playing detective Poirot in a BBC series. Makes it even funnier for British viewers to hear about what he did with his car 😅 Mischief Theatre is a theatre company. The actors play members of the Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society, an amateur group mainly consisting of Chris Bean (the director), Robert (who always thinks himself as the lead actor), Sandra (female lead who sees herself as thr next Hollywood starlet), Annie (a former stage assistant who gets all the support roles), Max (nice chap with no talent), Jonathan (who aleays messes up his entries), Lucy (Robert's Niece who he just wants to push onto the stage), and Dennis (who will always forget his lines). Plus Trevor, the stage technician who usually ends up being more on stage than he would want. Mischief's first show was Peter Pan Goes Wrong, using the original text of the play and adapted to all the wrong going sotuations. They were touring several years in pub theaters until they made their West End debut. The authors of Mischief (the three guys playing Dennis, Chris and Robert) used that time to come up with an own original play script "The Play that Goes wrong" which is a very classical Agatha-Christie-Style Who-Done-It with all thibgs going wrong, and the play is still in the London West End as well as around the world on some tours. The actors in here are the original founding members of Mischief. Now, what yoy see here is a TV adaption of Peter Pan goes wrong for the BBC that aired about four or five years ago for the first time after Mischief Theatre had become a bit of a name. It is in the tradition of an English Christmas pantomime - hence the "Oh no, it isn't", "It's behind you" and Boo interactions, which is very traditional panto stuff. The airing was so successful, the BBC offered teo other Christmas Specials (A Christmas Carol goes wrong and A Nativity goes wrong) plus a Mini-Series (which is nownteo seasons). The Cornley cast has an additinal new member, Vanessa (who is a great actrezz but cannot deal with spontanous situations and improvisations). It is absolutely great to watch, every episode is a different style of drama (comedy, tragedy, Shakespeare-timed, ...) going wrong in every single possibility.
Peter Pan goes wrong is the second play this group has done like this. The original is just called “The Play That Goes Wrong” and I had the opportunity to perform it with our local theatre group in January. So much fun. Unfortunately there’s not a full version of that that’s available to watch online anywhere.
@@Myself-anonymously I was just saying there’s no recording available online of the original group performing “Play That Goes Wrong”, (like this one of them doing Peter Pan Goes Wrong). I wasn’t referring to a recording of my own group’s - just commenting that I’d had fun performing the play.
@@AdamNisbettnot yet but they did record it about a year ago when the original cast did a few performances. They're probably waiting for the UK and US versions to stop before they release it
The Goes Wrong Show is hilarious (there are two seasons made for tv) but this Christmas special is one of my favourites! It’s hilarious!! I think my two favourite gags are the bunk beds and when the stage manager comes in as Peter and gets knocked out.
This troupe is called Mischief Theatre. They're not very well known in the US, but they're incredibly popular in England (where they're from). They're known for putting on shows which purposely go wrong in all the worst ways (actors forgetting lines or sustaining physical injuries, props breaking, set pieces collapsing, etc). They've also done A Christmas Carol Goes Wrong, as well as their original show, The Play That Goes Wrong, and a two-season show of various plays that go wrong.
I mean they were on Broadway for 2 years, Off Broadway for 5 years (still going) and done a couple of US tours. I wouldn't say they're not well known in the US
the one who plays Hook and Peters shadow and the one who has to wear headphones because he can never remember his lines are actually the guys behind it
Going to see this live on stage in the UK in January .I've seen several of their productions live and loved every one of them. The Mischief Theatre are brilliant, their TV series The Goes Wrong Show is well worth watching 😅
I saw this with the same cast back in 2013 in the West End. I think it was the second one they did after The Play That Goes Wrong. I remember they announced their next show (Comedy About A Bank Robbery) when this ended and we just waltzed out of the theatre, over to the Criterion and bought tickets to their next show right there and then.

I wish there were more reactions to them they are some on the wittiest shows I’ve seen the word play is immaculate and the characters always have the same quirks in every play max loved the attention and overplays it the one playing Peter always struggles with doors which kind of carries over into this one but the one playing Wendy loves the camera and poses into camera but the Peter Pan one while good I think the other ones will resonate with Americans more as I notice a lot of you don’t get the pantomime themes
We have a theater story like this one in Sweden too. Although our version is called "Peter Pan goes to Hell". My dad wants to see it, but i'm not going. I'd rather die than watch it. 😓💢

Tbf, Max is naturally good at acting, if only he wasn't trying to get the audience attention all the time 😂
also his aunt runs the BBC, so that's why they keep him around, despite him being a ham most of the time XD@@MatthewCYN15
