    Just another reason to appreciate what a great piece of property you have there, with so many natural building materials. Interested to see the new roof in the rain. Enjoyed the Lamp cameo at the end, too.

    Seems his little chipper/shredder handles this material quite well. Iv'e heard it is hell on chipper blades. Could be that it is only the completely dried cane that destroys chipper blades in a hurry? The leaves are said to have a very high nutrition for mulch beds. I wonder if they harvest whole plants to create high nitrogen fertilizer?

    Great craftsmanship on a cute temporary house with a negative fire rating. I just planted a good size bamboo brake on my property in hopes that folks will start learning the greater uses of this fast growing greater climate friendly product. Does anyone know of a method to treat this roof for fire rating and deterioration? I know they soak it in huge vats of boric acid as somewhat of an attempted treated lumber process. Without that treatment it has a life span of 8 to 10 years before rotting away. There is no way to insure something like this in the U.S.. I wonder what the building cost would be to bring this up to fire code?

    the bottom bamboo shall NOT be nailed to the wood. over time water will come through.

    • @WesTheDeal
      @WesTheDeal 3 роки тому +1

      That's exactly what I was thinking. I would have made bamboo cordage lashings. Bamboo shingles are quite amazing, especially the large diameter bamboo.
      Nails and screws equal a very high probability of destroying the integrity of the wood, especially it's ability to repel water

    • @WesTheDeal

      I love how you can soak bamboo in water to help shape it, then let it dry and it holds its form very well. They make beautiful boats out of bamboo
