What New Genuine Parts Can You buy for a 30+ years old BMW 5 series?
In this random video I will look at the original genuine BMW parts catalog to check which parts are still available for a 1987 BMW 5 series E28 equipped with a 6 cylinder diesel engine.
You will also see a genuine rubber engine mount for this car - one of the last new genuine engine mounts in the World? Since this part is no longer in production and there is no aftermarket version of it available anywhere.

One of the most annoying parts going NLA for me is the wheels, (I don't know about the E28). Of all the parts to stop production... But in general the supply is very good. I think BMW and Porsche are some of the best for availability of old parts. I'd like to know if there was any logic to which ones go NLA and which don't.
I truly like your videos and editing has just the right of memes. I’m happy whenever there is new dcr video.
Thanks!
also new vid coming soon
I am guessing they make them in batches.
That's why some are "not available anymore" and others are "no longer produced".
The not available parts are probably made in one week in like 50 copies and that's enough for the demand.
I don't think it would be worth it for the manufacturer to still make these parts even in small numbers, but I can be wrong
@@differentcarreview-dcr well, you saw the prices
I have heard that Mercedes has all the tooling for its old models, so they can make any part any time, but only if there's enough demand for it.
True or not?
maybe its true, I heard similar thing about parts for classic Porsches
Yeah, that is premium brands for you.
@@DashCamSerbia oh hello brother :) 🇧🇬
@@Random-nf7qb Hello.
Which site can I use for ordering genuine parts please ??? And which site are you using?
I ordered this part from this website www.online-teile.com/bmw-ersatzteile/index.php?language=en
even without registration you have an access to the parts catalog as well
@@differentcarreview-dcr thanks mate
New, old stock.
A coworker asked me what BMW stood for. I knew their history of airplane engine manufacturing, and said Bavarian Motor Works. He said WRONG! Big Money Waster. Their computer chips fail frequently and they do not color coordinate their interiors.
