DEI is a disaster policy. Hiring and training must be on the best qualified, not who checks a box. Phil is right to question whether that was a factor or not.

Do the white commissioners have "port experience"? Have you looked into that? All the right wing chuds that wanna defund government take no blame for this. You're just gonna blame some black woman.

I like his sense of genuineness and honesty to leave a post like that up. Own your mistakes or the mistakes of your team. If all politicians took responsibility , we would have a better society

Diversity is actually a outgrowth of the monumental integration movement of the 1960s. After 200 plus years White folk were being asked to suddenly drop deeply embedded legal and socially accepted animus towards black folk. The shock to mainstream white society was profound. After a while and deep soul searching many overcame their history, many more vowed to never change when George Wallace declared in 1968 'segregation now, segregation today, segregation forever'. They lost, they fled, they organized a resistance movement, and today trump's new maga party offers them a new political home.

Good summary on the history followed by a total whiff on the appeal of the modern Populist movements. Never Trumper here, but I understand what is going on. In fact, Blacks and Hispanics are exiting the hate filled Left in large numbers.
Black and Brown people love God, love their families, and love their country. Blacks don't buy racializing everything in US history, censorship over debate, the flood 10s of millions of undocumented walk-ins, parents arrested as terrorists for standing up to extreme school boards, two tiered justice that attacks Conservatives, or government agencies who contemptuously lie to Americans. people know that elites hold their own constituency in contempt and times are changing.
Black and Brown America are joining with the Christian Right against repressive elites in DC, in corrupt academia, in the MSM, and on Wall Street. In case you haven't noticed, the rich and famous, along with those who hate America are on the only Base that remains for the Left. GOP could have a Black and Brown majority by 2028. Maybe you have one more election to win.
In social relations, the Left has gone nuts and they are badly weakening the Nation. The best of Bernie Sanders and MAGA and the experiment of telling people the truth is mostly represented in the leadership of RFK Jr. Like other 3rd party candidates, he won't win, but he will facilitate the change. GOP needs leadership that the emerging coalition can better support. Let the Left Elites and the few White bigots who remain wither together along with Trump who has neither the temperament nor the persuasive powers to lead the Nation nor the world.

Then, why is it that it is the left with their new anti-racism that is pushing for segregation again? You fundamentally misunderstand anti-DEI. It is an argument against being anti-meritocratic. Having diversity is not a bad thing at all and if you’re hiring on racist policies because you don’t want people of color or minorities in the workplace we have laws against that but prioritizing DEI over competence in the workplace should be alarming
