This brings back some memories. I made this demo in the span of a couple of weeks in the summer of '94. The source code is unfortunately lost. The Amiga HD that I stored it on got corrupted at some point. Later the same year I actually ported the voxel engine to the SNES Super FX chip as demo for a game concept that never got anywhere. Somehow that SNES binary got leaked (I have no idea how), and can be downloaded here: www.snescentral.com/article.php?id=1088, and someone made a youtube video of it here: ua-cam.com/video/hPR-iSnaCuc/v-deo.html If you look closely you'll see that it is the exact same voxel landscape being used :-)
The SNES Super FX chip as demo was made while I worked at Funcom. We presented it as a game concept to Nintendo, but never got a contract for it. I also worked on the FX chip code for "Winter Gold" around the same time.
I remember watching this getting made. My brother was a coder in Cryptoburners. Perhaps I still have the original code somewhere. Althought the disks are probably corrupt.
@@jmp01a24 This is correct. Two of the members of Neural Network (the Norwegian band you are referring to) were also part of Cryptoburners. Oddgeir (Vortex / Blackstar) created the music for this demo and I created the opening visuals based on the CD cover.

Heh, I had assumed that this was an early test for Comanche, but good to know the real story! I will update the article later.

This demo is triiiiipppyyyyy but gives somehow the idea of unfinished; did you wanted to do better visuals?
Amazing voxel! One of the very best on Amiga. It was probably part of the fascination that led me to make my own voxel engine much later.
I really like this demo! The voxel landscape blew my mind at that time. Voted for it at TG94 ;)

How come the title? There was a CD released in 1994 called Brain State in a Box. By a Norwegian techno band.

@@josteindahlgjelsvik2869 Wow I didn't know that - cool.
Heya Spoon :) Been a long time.
Shame about the eye-rapey color sections, because the voxel bit is really nice.
