I ha e acquired many pedals in my 40 yrs of playing.I think my RC-3 is the best and most useful piece of kit I have ever owned.I also got it at a 25% discount.I wish I'd seen a channel like yours at the beginning as it is quite tricky to use at first but boy what a pedal.Could not live without it now.
Nice. Clear. Thoughtful in simplicity. Sophisticated because of your calm and presence. Great job. I look forward to watching more! Right now I have to unpack my RC-3 and try it out for the first time! Thank you.
Thank you so much for your kind words. I'm preparing the next vidoes. They will be about the RC300. But I think there will be interesting stuff for you too! Loop on!
Really helpful dude, the instructions were clear and super helpful. We got a rc-3 looping pedal and didn’t know if it properly worked but thanks to you it is undeniably working in AMAZING condition. I’m so thankful for this vid. Keep up the good work 😀
Many thanks for these tutorials, I have had a rc300 for 2 years but struggled to get the most from it. Working with your tutorials I am now enjoying and creating better loops, again many thanks. Ps you an excellent guitarist
For years I have played and a lot of the times alone ,but could hear solos and harmonys but seeing as I only had one guitar it was frustrating now I'm in bliss thanks for the next dimension to my playing
Just bought one of these this morning...I've been using a Ditto for quite a while,.. they're great, but a bit limiting. Terrific tutuorial..Thanks so much..there's quite a bit to learn with these boxes.
Bought an RC-3 yesterday, but always have much trouble in translating a manual into using a device. I'm the worst sort of "RTFM!" guy. This is now my instruction booklet. Thank you.
Hi! In the beginning I thought that I wouldn't get anything knew but on the contrary, it was a very helpful video! Thank you very much! I already subscribe to your channel! Good luck!!!
Thanks fur a great lesson. Hope to see more about how to select chords for each loop. Please explain why you select those chords. What's the rule for chord selection for each loop.
The chord structure comes from the songs. So I select songs, that are based on repeating chord progressions. From this chord progression I start experimenting with different positions, voicings and sounds to find something I like. There is rule I coud tell you.
Very helpful. One question: on the first track (bass) you had to start the recording exactly at the start of the beat. But on track two and three you kicked the unit into record mode much earlier. Why are tracks two and three still perfectly synced?
Thanks for these videos! I’m a little confused about one part of this lesson though: at 02:24 the movement of your foot (pedal click) is not synchronized with the start of recording of the „loop II”. Could you explain that please (obciously you do it right, as it sounds great). Thank a lot Stefan!
Yes, you are right. My problem is, that I own "only" one camera. So a have to film the split screen twice. First shot is the upper window where you see me playing guitar. With this shot I record the video and the audio. For the closeup on the looper I do a second shot "playback". It is pretty hard to move the feet exactly in the same way again. Especially when the moment when I press the footswitch is not on a specific beat. That is what you discovered. Wow! You really looked closely!
This is great, thank you! If you’re overdubbing continuously, can you hear everything that was recorded previously on each loop turnaround? How does the RC-3 handle the volume of each overdub pass? Does it mix the volume equally or does it decrease the volume of each pass? In other words, does it do Sound on Sound looping? Thanks!
It adds the sounds. I don't think that it compresses the sound. So if you add multiple loops you have to take care about the volumes. Thanks for watching.
Hi there trying to learn how to use my boss R3 pedal. I notice on your second and third layer you hit the pedal before the 1 and then start playing on the 1.. Shouldn't that cause lag in the layers in your loop. Maybe the pedal doesn't start recording until it gets a signal? Thanks for putting these out by the way ... they are really helpful!
The pedal starts recording, when I press the footswitch. But if I play nothing, it records silence. If I overdub silence to a loop, nothing happens. That gives me the possibility to start the looper before I start to play. So I don't need to press the footswitch in the moment I start to play. Pretty simple.... :-)
I'm trying to figure out if I can delete the original loop without having to press and hold the "write" button for instances where you want to create multiple loops sections during one song (in different parts of the song). I know you can save loops but I would rather do this on the fly and in the moment instead of relying on a pre-recorded loop. Using this LIVE means sometimes you play bits of songs uniquely to the situation/venue/crowd and pre-recording section loops for one song would completely eliminate the natural feel of that.
Did you check my later videos about how I use the rhythm section of the RC300 as a metronome? Unfortunately that's not so easy with a RC3. I see two ways to work with an RC3: 1. Record percussion elements and store them to tracks or 2. Record backingtracks with a DAW an download them to the looper. That depends on what you want to do.
Hi, I have problem with recording 2nd loop over the first - it records only 3 seconds of second loop and after this automaticly starts to record something like 3rd loop :( 3rd loop in my case is continuation of the second loop. I cant record 2nd loop i.e. for 10 seconds. Strange... Thanks for advice.
The lenght of the loop and all the overdubs is defined with the first recording. So if your first loop is for example 8 seconds long, (Time between the first time you hit the footswitch and the second time yout hit it) the overdubs are exactely the same length. I could not think of another possibility. Can you describe it more precisely or could you make a video of your problem?
Question? When I record a loop and then step on the pedal to start the loop, I'm still in record mode with green AND red light on. On my rc-3 I have to step on the pedal 2x to start the loop but Not record. How did you do that with One step on the pedal?
How come in the first example you Started loops two and three on the third bar of the previous measure and how come those two measures of silence weren’t recorded?
Actually they are recorded. But since I play nothing (silence) you won't here something. I start the recording befor the beat one to make sure that it's already recording when I start playing. When I startet looping I alwas thought I needed to hit the record Button exactely on beat one! Instead it' much easier to hit the record button earlier and just play nothing.
I want to be able to undo and redo the last loop in time with the loop. At the moment, every time I misjudge the 2 second button-hold and it cuts the loop (or adds it in) too early or too late. You seem to time the undo exactly on the beat and release on the beat and it goes away in time. But that's not how it works in general, at least on mine. It's a two second delay - but that's really hard to judge in real time. Any tips?
That's more or less coincidence. When using one pedal, there is always the delay. Even if you use an additional footswitch, there is no way to asign "undo" exclusively to the external switch.
Just want to clarify something about this: you said you can only undo the last overdub; so If I record Loop 1, then Loop 2, then Loop 3, and then undo Loop 3 so it's gone, I can't then go back and undo Loop 2 as well?
In your example, the first undo removes loop 3. If you undo a second time, loop 3 will appear again. So it's the undo of the undo. With each undo you will Switch Loop 3 on and off. Problem is, that you cannot control the moment, when this will happen. I tried to use this as a function to switch the last Loop during a song. But the Timing was poor.... Hope this helps. :-)
Ah I see, that makes sense, thanks. I am planning to get a RC-3 to get started with some looping, but I imagine I'll want to get something more advanced later down the line.
The RC-3 is a single Track looper. You can stack loops on top of each other. Then you can save the stack to the memory. But if you change the memory, you do not have access to the loop of another memory. (If this makes sense...)
This tutorial is so incredible. Love how its simple and the instructor isn't wasting my time with banter I don't care about.
Oh my gosh!! I am SO excited to find this simple and totally understandable tutorial!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

Thanks so much!
These videos are great. I just got an RC-300 this week and these videos explain and demonstrate the concepts really well. Thanks!
Same as that!!
a natural teacher, impressive
Thanks so much!
Best demo video for the Boss loop station. Thank you!
Welcome! Thanks for watching.
Super Tutorial! Danke dir!

Brilliant! Thank you for your generosity in sharing.
You are welcome. Thanks for the nice words
I have my loop collecting dust. Thanks to you I'll clean it up and try it again! Thank you!
Bought an RC-3 yesterday, but always have much trouble in translating a manual into using a device. I'm the worst sort of "RTFM!" guy. This is now my instruction booklet. Thank you.
Your Guitar has a beautiful tone
THANK YOU! Finally a video answering my question of weeks haha ugh
Ol Ray would be proud....Thanks dude!
Great visual explanation!
Yes! Those visual effects are a lot of work, but I think it helps a lot! Thanks for your feedback
So many people get the audio wrong As they talk while they are looping but he’s nailed this too!

Fantastic
You make this look too easy! Well done Stefan...
+Meurig Davies Thank. I know what it takes to get there... A lot of patience and effort.... Keep on looping!

on the pedal you can set it to record when you press the pedal or when you start strumming

Very helpfull, many thanks. The animations are great.
+Arne Brüning Thanks man! The animations were a bit tricky. But I think it was worth it.
I liked this video
Thanks so much! This has been very helpful!
Thank you very much for this free lessons!
You are welcome. Have fun!
Thank u sir , keep up the good work
hi from Australia. thanks for tuition vids : )
Great! Loop around the world. Greetings from Germany.

hello and thx, do you think the undo also works on a RC-500 ?
Thanks dude :)

Very very helpfull.
Only miss a tutorial how to prepair loops with rhytms
Did you check my later videos about how I use the rhythm section of the RC300 as a metronome? Unfortunately that's not so easy with a RC3.
I see two ways to work with an RC3: 1. Record percussion elements and store them to tracks or 2. Record backingtracks with a DAW an download them to the looper. That depends on what you want to do.
How long does the undo take to engage. I can never seem to make the undo stop on beat.
How do you do this using a DAW? I have RC-3 and know how to use it but can't figure out how to use it with Ableton or Reaper.
good video thx! But anyone knows how to UNDO last layer on the RC 30??
cus if u pres and hold it will switch to next pedal
Can you mute a loop? Like if i want to create a short silence to solo and then bring the entire loop back right away??
hit the road with jack
You oulined you'd play B7 as the last chord in loop 3. But I think you played just B.
Anyway great demo. Thank you very much.
Maybe. Sometimes I just play....
Thanks for watching.
Hit the road jack!

Please check How to loop #1. The first entry of the comment section is a short description, how you can change the behavior of the RC-3
time stamp 352 sounds like my playing!

He should get a free pedal from BOSS for doing this!!!

... TWO ! ! ! 😁
just an idea but can you make a video on choosing loop pedal?
I only use the RC-3 and the RC-300. So it's hard for me to compare pedals I do not know. I will do Videos on the RC-300 soon.
yea thats true...
can't wait for the next video.
you are amazing man
Can I undo a loop with my Boss me70 multifx pedal?
Sorry I don't know the me70. So I don't know.
Just want to clarify something about this: you said you can only undo the last overdub; so If I record Loop 1, then Loop 2, then Loop 3, and then undo Loop 3 so it's gone, I can't then go back and undo Loop 2 as well?

aliquidcow That's the way I did it! makes sense to me
LoopsUnlimited - Live.Cover.Music. Lol undo an undo that’ll mess up your noodle😂
How many overdubs you can put simultaneously?
What do you mean by "simultaneously"? You can record as many overdubs as you want. One after the other.
I don’t get how to save the loop and moving on to a different memory and record something else and then my first loop goes away can anyone help
The RC-3 is a single Track looper. You can stack loops on top of each other. Then you can save the stack to the memory. But if you change the memory, you do not have access to the loop of another memory. (If this makes sense...)
Seriously isn't it possible to delete a loop whitch is not the last one? Is There a loop station for about the same prince whitch is doing it?
Thank you for the job
