- I've added @LagunaTools Swift 4x8 CNC to my shop and I couldn't be more excited! I wanted to make a quick video and talk about my first impressions and how I think it's going to affect my business and my content moving forward. I also made my first CNC project. A “welcome” sign for the front porch!

We're excited for you and your new CNC adventures! It definitely opens up a lot of opportunities especially one that size!
Thanks guys. I'm so pumped!
I'm so happy for you man! Can't wait to see what you come up with.
Thanks bro! Still quite intimidating. I'll get there. Should be really comfortable by Christmas!
I’m excited to see what you make with it, Mike! Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the machine and how you envision using it.
Thank you for watching! And I can't wait to see where this takes me.
This video is great. I appreciate how you talk about the thought process behind it.
Thanks man! I had to make this for myself I think. I needed to flesh out my thoughts.
Honestly excited to see you progress in your knowledge. I’m right with you on a smaller scale and I’m excited for the new opportunities that are ahead.
It's a very exciting change man
Great video Mike and the sign came out fantastic!
Thanks dude! Thanks for watching!
Thank you for sheering your experience and decision
Thanks for watching
Congratulations Bro... I look forward to your content..
Thank you. I should have more out shortly.
So very Happy for you Mike, as you learn we learn . Stay well your family ( two legged and four)and you my friend
Thank you as always Gregg
@@CoffeyCustomBuilds 🤜🤛🙏
I purchased this same machine a couple months ago. It’s supposed to be getting delivered in a month or so. Look forward to following you and learning along the way. Good luck on your adventure.
Hopefully you have it by now! It's an amazing machine. In fact I'm ordering a Smartshop 2.
You got a CNC we got you, nice to watch your work and learn from you. 😊
Thank you for watching!
Finally came across your videos man! Awesome! Have you had a chance to start leveling slabs on your CNC yet? I heard they are great for that. Just curious after seeing this and then watching your slab coffee table video. Congrats on the purchase. You've got a new fan.
I have actually flattened quite a few now. It's incredible how fast it does it too. A huge time saver for that. I appreciate the support very much! Thank you!
I have the exact same machine. love it. once i learnt what feeds and speeds it could handle, its greatly enhance my production. Don't just get hooked on Amana bits. that was my mistake because they came with the machine. Now im using whiteside and vortex as well as amana. Vortex has a speed and feed app...love it, its helped me a ton. i use a 3/4 inch spoil board on mine with dog clamps. works well. Enjoy and looking forward to seeing some of your projects...Have fun!
I'm a huge whiteside fan. I plan on picking up several. And I very recently heard about Vortex. I definitely need to look into them. Any you recommend? I'm working on a new style of spoilboard. Very excited to show it off soon. I think it will be a game changer.
Coffey Custom Builds I mostly use a 1/4” down cut from vortex. I cut allot of Baltic birch ply with it and solid maple and solid fir with it, works awesome.
I'll check them out man.
Nice work mike the welcome sign came out great ! I can’t wait to see what you make with, even though I agree it can get a little boring if you just turn into a cnc page lol.
People lean into tropes way too much. Epoxy only. CNC only. Hand tools only. It all has its place but you gotta mix it up.
Thanks for the debate about CNCs it was fun. I do have a CNC 5x10 , I own a Cabinet Business a small one the building is only 4000sf hoping to grow. We some times make things with conventional tools but not for the Business side i have automation machines we use for the cabinets its a must when you have employees , two and there great.
that's awesome
Such a great addition!!!
Thank you! I'm very excited about it!
so pumped for you man! if you ever need to move it again you know who to call. I have hand truck experience and huge calves. :-)
Those calves 🥰 seriously man. Thank you for the help!
@@CoffeyCustomBuilds LOL
Such a great investment man, congrats!
Super excited on this dude.
Love your presentation style and the quality of your videos! Would you share the price of this unit? Can’t wait till you feel comfortable showing us your programming methods... 😃💪🏼🥳
Thanks for watching! This machine runs around $22k out the door. And I can't wait to be more comfortable with programming.
We are gearing up to buy a router and after several attempts to talk to a live person at Laguna we figured out quickly that they weren't the company for us. Sales guy was a smart @ss. We decided to go with our second choice, Camaster.
that's very disappointing to hear. Laguna has been great to me for years.
Very nice machine! Now imagine the size of the slabs you can flatten with that!
I imagine 4x8 slabs!
I agree....CNC content can get old really quick. You really have to show the progress in those videos to make it interesting.
Yeah man. Integrate it. Show why it's so important to your build. Don't make the whole video about the part where you used your CNC.
Congratulations, Thank you for keeping focused on the craft not the tooling
Just trying to push myself how I can.
CNC can be intimidating if you are new to it. It does get fun trying new things though. Lots of little tricks you can do to improve run time, quality, etc
It was definitely intimidating for a couple months. Then it clicked. I'm not a pro or anything but I understand it more and it's so fun.
Great info. I am right where you were back when you produced this vid. Has it worked out for you? What did you end up spending why 4x8 vs 5x10?
This was about $16k. I didn't have the space for a 5x10. I have had this 2 years and am ordering it's bigger brother. Still going 4x8.
Congrats on the news equipment! I’m sure it’ll serve you well!
I think you're right. Thanks for watching
And frankly I don’t need the public ridicule. 🤣
LOL I’m glad someone paid attention!
cnc step #1 a decoration for the wife 👏😄
I want one. Good luck!!!
Thank you! They're such great tools.
Awesome !
Found it. Very cool.
👊🏼
Interested in purchasing this. Do you think it would work great in cutting engineered harwdood planks into 45 degree foldable to create box treads
Yeah definitely. Use a 91 degree miter fold bit.
That thing is a monster!!!
I’m so glad I went big on this. Room to grow for a while with it.
You’re a monster! ;)
Hello Coffee. I about to purchase the same machine for my garage. Did you have to do any power upgrades for your breaker to handle it? How fast does it pump out one of those large flags I saw in your other video? How loud is it when it’s powered on and cutting? Thanks in advance
Hello Beest. You will need a 30amp 220v service. It can do a flag in about 15 minutes. Between the machine and the dust collection I wear hearing protection. Let me know if you have any other questions.
Have any of you that own this machine had any problems with the vacuum pump throwing the breakers in the control cabinet?
This doesn't have the vac bed.
Good luck.
Thanks!
Seriously jealous... super excited for ya but man I need 1
I'm very excited! And intimidated. There is a lot to learn. Luckily I love it!.
Bro nice cnc. Also bro you do you it’s your channel. If people don’t want to watch, then it’s their lost. 👍🏽👍🏽
I appreciate that for sure. I definitely want to keep it as relevant to people as I can but yeah, I gotta do me.
Does this CNC have a vacuum bed? I am trying to find a CNC machine that has that feature and am curious if this one does, loved this video!
Thank you! Mine does not have a vac bed but you can get that on it. I just didn't have the power available.
@@CoffeyCustomBuilds Thanks for letting me know! I’m looking forward to your next video
Thank you
Of course not! Use blue tape I guess? If you want a hobbies machine this is for you specially with the power issue, Laguna tools know that their customers are guys that make UA-cam videos at home so they target this guys.
What is your opinion of the hand held control device? I am currently using desktop computer based software (CorelDraw), and thinking of small scale (Q or iQ) CNC.
It works great. Lots of key pad shortcuts make it very usable.
@@CoffeyCustomBuilds how are jobs imported?
Nice machine.
Can you tell me what the inner dimension of the T-track is? They don't have that info on their site.
The inner dimensions?
I’m looking to make something that will fit into the track and fill the entire inside.
For someone who has limited entry space, can this be disassembled and brought in, in pieces?
No it's a unibody frame. Welded.
How’s your process been with this machine post 1 year?
Thank you!
I love this machine. Ordering it's big brother.
you have aspire and fusion 360??? youre the man..
I'm just A man.
Mike? I’m curious why you chose the Laguna instead of say the Legacy 4X8 Maverick?
Like I said in the video, I'm partnered with Laguna. I love their tools and am very happy with this machine. I only wish I had gone bigger.
So far do you like it, and what projects have you gotten to do with it ?
I am really enjoying it. I've been doing a lot of customization, slab flattening, jig making, template making and batching out products. You can see a lot of it over on Instagram if you're interested. But I'll be putting more content over here as well.
Thank you for taking time to reply
bruh you got a 4x8 cnc in your garage! You think it can make ikea-style cabinets out of 3/4" 4x8 particle boards?
That was my shop. Im not sure
I been look at a cnc like this one for the cost think some over prise
Yeah
Well 2 years since you had it how’s it working out and would you buy it again or something else??????
Still have it. Love it. Very happy with this machine. In fact I'm buying it's big brother.
@@CoffeyCustomBuilds I’m between the saber and your right now don’t know which way to go. Cant wait to see the video on that! Also Congratulations 🍾 on the new purchase. Best and keep the videos coming.
Did you rent that lift just for the delivery
I sure did. I wish I had a telehandler of my own.
2 years later what are your thoughts on your CNC? I'm looking to get 1 myself
This machine has completely changed the direction of my business and I've ordered a smart shop 2 that will be coming soon.
@@CoffeyCustomBuilds I work with 98% MDF building custom parts and speaker boxes for hot rods and car stereo...it's a scary jump...to go from templates and router stations to the unknown
@@loudelvis610 it is. But in my experience things get scariest right before you're about to see big growth.
How much was it? Looking into getting one myself
Sorry for the very slow reply. I thought I responded. That machine is about $23k out the door after tax and shipping.
@@CoffeyCustomBuilds That's about $50K less than I would have thought. That's a great bargain. I'm about to retire from my regular job and plan on taking my woodworking to the next level. Been buying machines for the past ten years to prepare, Can't wait to get one. Thanks for the video... I dig your style and will be checking out your other content. Thanks!
How the heck did you get a Laguna CNC for just $20k????
It was a sale 3 years ago. Their most entry level machine.
7.5 minute video but only about 2 seconds with your initial thoughts on the machine I was expecting more based on the video title...
Alright sorry you're disappointed
The price pleas
About $24,000 delivered.
@@CoffeyCustomBuilds Do u have an account I want to communicate with u
Video basically starts at 2:58 and ends at 5:51
It starts at 0:00
In fishing terms - you got a whopper there. I like to watch those who admit their intimidation of CNN yet take the plunge for smart reasons. Enjoy the long process of learning the software and how to use it and hope you are able to triple your income with it.
Thank you! It's been a very worthwhile investment.
Let me know the price. Thank you!
You'd want to reach out to Laguna. They run sales often.
Now from what you have said more then once on AWP. You can no longer call your self a woodworker. Because cnc isn’t woodworking right???? But I’m sure you’ve already found out there’s more to it then pressing play.
I assume you're joking and know that I didn't say you're not a woodworker if you own a CNC.
@@CoffeyCustomBuilds It’s a playful comment not trolling of comments you have made on your podcast.
Decent video but clickbait title.
You watched it.
I see a wannabe social media influencer, who's in over his head because he wants the cool toys to impress his fake followers, but isn't even excited about it.
