    Cool project. Now Ken, you can make it automatic too...but for smaller parts it is easy as I did, but for guitars...humm....

    Have you already made a semi hollow bidy guitar? Like an es335?

      Hi how are you? That’s no problem on waiting till now. I’m actually just about ready to produce some videos on how to make a cnc step by step with as much detail as I can including links to all of the stuff needed to build it. I’m going to do it in Part 1, Part 2 ect format. I haven’t done that guitar build yet I’m just finishing a Strat build now

      Yeah it is, what happened is I designed it then had to add more because it wasn’t rigid enough

      all of it watching UA-cam videos. I may go back and put links to videos that helped me.

      It is like learning how to swim. You just make the jump. You start by ordering motors+drivers+extrusions and put them together, and voila!

    Hello Ken,
    Thanks for sharing! I'm gonna make this machine! What are the dimensions of the machine itself? Regards Yvo from the Netherlands

    • @Studtguitars
      @Studtguitars  Рік тому

      That’s great! I will measure the exact dimensions here within a couple of hours. I’m not at my shop currently and it’s been a few years since I built it. It’s interesting I may be traveling to Netherlands in December. Small world. I’d be glad to answer any questions you may have

    • @Studtguitars
      @Studtguitars  Рік тому

      The dimensions are 40 by 24 with about 31 by 18 workable space. Like I said in the video I used one 4 by 8 piece of 3/4 inch plywood cut in 3 pieces and stacked them for rigidity. I may make a more detailed video. Is that something you would be interested in?

      @MrYboxuitg That’s not a problem. If I were building it again I would actually use a much bigger extrusion than what I did.
      I would also make the Z able to go higher.
      If you have a little time before you start I’m going to do a more detailed video of the making of the CNC with updated info like what I would do differently

    Dude you need a 3d printer, but is a nice desgine. I see where it would be good on wood.
    Need more rollers for aluminum milling.

    • @Studtguitars
      @Studtguitars  11 місяців тому

      Thank you! Yeah I have a 3D printer but haven’t had time to even get going and yeah I haven’t tried Aluminum or any other metal. It’s probably not rigid enough to be real precise on metal

    • @RoboArc
      @RoboArc 11 місяців тому

      @Studtguitars really you're fine, you just need more berrings on the base to disburse load of the machine and need a better mount for that ball screw. Looks fine for aluminum milling after those upgrades.

    • @Studtguitars

      If you add up all of the parts in my description below it adds up to around $875 if I remember correctly. It doesn’t count plywood, screws and a few other smaller things. I spent around $1100 all in but it is a very strong cnc as far as torch

      @@Studtguitars well done! I'm surprised at the number.

    • @Studtguitars
      @Studtguitars  11 місяців тому

      Thanks! Yeah and you could make it bigger for fairly cheap by just buying longer rails and cutting the base differently. You would then just need longer ball screws and longer rails. I would think for around $1600 you could build almost a 4’ by 8’ CNC. I’ve looked into the rails, they make a almost 8 foot set of rails
