I am so happy to hear that 😊🤩, internships are for graduates without job experience so you don’t have to worry yourself about that. However, you need to make your skills strong such that they present you as a great candidate for an internship. If you have done any work while studying do include them, it will help.

Hi! Siphokazi, with Z83 there is not much mistakes you can make except not following the guidelines. Just make sure you fill everything that applies to you and initial it at the bottom of each page.

Hi! Enhle, currently on n government you are no longer requested to submit your ID and qualifications unless clearly specified. You submit a Z83 and CV. Only if you are shortlisted will they request you to being the qualification and ID. But always read the requirements well.

Hi! The only way you can enter in government without experience is through an internship. When I started working in government I already had experience from university but it was not a big factor in me getting the internship.

It does not count how you created your CV but keep it simple and clean, No need for a Cover page because your Z83 serves a one. No borders or picture, basically the cleaner and simple your CV is the better. Please always mention the qualification you are currently doing or if still waiting for the certificate. If you can get an academic record even better, include it when applying if they want supporting documents but now they do not ask for them. But when they call you for an interview bring the academic record. Hi Jennifer, how do I structure my experience if my most recent and longest experience is only slightly relevant to the post/area of government I'm applying for. But I have the qualifications and prior experience that is just older (e.g.: 5 years). I ask because I haven't really been utilizing my qualification and passion in my current role, and I've been in it for 5 years now. But prior to that I have collective experience of about 2 years for the jobs I have qualifications for, and I feel I would enjoy. For more context, I work for a retail bank but would like to work in a legal setting because I have a paralegal certificate etc.
You still put your work experience starting with the most recent work experience. You might need to write a Cover letter that explains your work experience as to how you qualify and your education background. No experience is useless, its just a matter of how you relate it to the job you are applying for.

Problem is this HRs are not the same. Some need the old CV format. They need marital status and so on. I have asked one last year and I had to compile another. So everyone is telling us different stories
That is true, but remember that in government HR does not do the shortlisting. Their job is to advertise and receive CV’s they do not have influence on whether you get selected or not. I am speaking on government departments but in the private sector it’s different. Remember in government your Z83 already has your personal information, use your CV to focus on showing how you qualify for the position.

Age honestly has nothing to do with getting a job, what matters is if you have the experience and meet the minimum requirements when applying. If when you are applying and you tick these boxes you stand a better chance of being shortlisted.

I do not use any app for cv writing and am not clued up of any that exist. I check on google cv templets, when I find one that I like I use it and modify where I see the need.

In a retail environment I must say.
If I did LLB, how do I write it under qualifications because I don’t have majors ?
I think every qualification should have majors. Majors are basically your last year modules.
Only write LLB (Laws).
If you are applying in the legal fraternity they will know the structure of an LLB...they will know it does not have a major.
