Would you please do a video on the DOs and DON’Ts of applying for a job using the government E-recruitment websites? I usually use that platform but barely get any response
Hi! There is not much I can say about the platform, I used to use it when I was an intern hardly got any responses. I got one interview from it.

I've been applying ever since I acquired my qualification in 2019 however just got only 2 selections to the interview but failed, yah it's very demotivating and stressful to apply and not land for an interview. Thank you Jennifer for your videos they are encouraging.

Thanks for the amazing video Jen. On the matter of having above the required qualification I've been consulting with different HR practitioners most of them say stick to the requirements there's no such thing as an added advantage and now am confused.
I've been applying for positions in Transport and Supply Chain for 9 years and still waiting for my first interview.

Apply sis’wami cs you may never know when you can get that call. Are you doing your honours full time?

Very informative. Sometimes it's because they are looking at balancing demographics, you could be over-qualified hence they will mention specific skills as added advantage. Also, it can take over 3 years before they call you so guys never give up.
Yesss so true, that us why reading the post from beginning to bottom before deciding to apply. Whenever I see that they are emphasising demographics I don’t fall under or requirements I don’t have, I just pass it and not even bother. It is so wrong how long they take to shortlist 😫 especially bcs the unemployment rate in this country is high.
So true dear. But sometimes it might happen that you are not shortlisted for the first run and you fall under the 3rd group if the chosen candidate does not like the offer or they were not impressed with the interview. I always tell myself that if I do not get called it's because they have someone they want in mind and I don't give up. It's just so hard when you are unemployed. Continue with these kind of videos as they give our brothers and sisters hope dear

The only thing I've noticed with most people is that they do not fill in the Z83 correctly. Small things like initialing each page, signing, writing the date, etc.. can actually get people disqualified.
Yes, some people take the Z83 slightly while it’s very important.

Wow! I learnt so much from this 🙏... But now I want to ask, if I have my CV in this format, do I still need a cover letter? Because I feel like I've used most of my cover letter points in the CV (Especially in skills)
A cover letter is needed in Private sector but for government it’s not needed. A cover letter is a summary of your skills, experience and an introduction to why you are applying.

If a post states that "Preference will be given to women, youth and people with disabilities " does this mean that if you are not a woman, youth or a person with a disability you should not apply at all?
Thank you, you should apply if you want to, but when they say that, they mean they will prioritise woman over man and people younger than 35 with disabilities.
Honestly, if a post say this and you are not in that category, just don’t apply.

hi jenn, thank you so much for the video. quick one, if a job requires a diploma and you're for example doing final year of a Degree... is it okay to omit that info to avoid being "over qualified" given that you could also maybe be having years of experience in the same field of study and work?also is there such thing as being over qualified for a position?
Sis’wami there is no such thing as being over qualified, include all your qualifications, that will make you stand out and give you an added advantage 💐❤️

If they say no experience . How do i go about proving my skills and competencies?
What happens when you've been shortlisted, they ask for your qualifications but then it's silence after that?
I take it you went for an interview? If that is the case then it mean you did not pass the interview. But if they only asked for qualifications and its been silent they are probably busy with verification. You should actually call them to find out what is going on. Follow up with the person who contacted you.

I love your content... If you're applying for a of being a general worker you've level 4 you don't have Matric how do I fill the form
You fill it the same way, just put your highest grade.
You firstly put nqf level 4 followed by your lower grade?
The some post they need abet level 3 or level 2
Are the interviews always in-person?. Let's say I apply for a position that is in Pretoria and I'm from another province. If I get called for an interview, can I do the interview telephonically or I have to go there (Pretoria) on interview day.

In government departments its in person, unless you ask for a virtual one when you get an interview invitation
Hi Jennifer, I recently received My degree in Public Management and Governance degree (no experience) and currently looking for internships, what's the trick to being shortlisted?
There really is no trick, but just wirk on your CV when writing it focus on the skills section since you don’t have work experience. Please check Department of Small business they currently have internships open.

Yes they for sure, I see a lot of people get employed in my department who are in their late 40 and way older. The age limit only applies for internships.
Ey Jenn , is it advisable to add an LLB degree , when applying for an admin entry level post ? Or is the degree not relevant and I should just apply with my matric?
I would suggest that you include your qualifications all of them, you may never know which door they will open for you.

They wouldn’t exclude you because of an expired license, it’s much better than to not have it.

Respectable information however being the country with the highest unemployment, generally people are applying for hundreds of jobs and cant be personalizing their CV's to each and every job application unless its in a specific field. there for you information is not catered to the masses

Yes if it was stated as a requirement.
