  • I finally had the chance to build the legendary Schulte "Compact Phasing A" using Jürgen Haible's faithful circuit recreation of the original unit.
    In combination with the TP-1011 preamp it gives the famous "Catch The Rainbow" live sound. Please subscribe if you liked the video, thanks!

    Sounds amazing! Sounds your phaser clone came out better than mine. But (maybe) more importantly nice sweeps! I am trying to alternate pick these chords and man I need to practice :D

      Thanks Adam! Glad you liked it! I believe that Blackmore used a mix of sweeps and alternate picking but I couldn't get it right so I cheated :D

    Hi!
    We wrote a bit about Ritchies tone some years back. I wonder what is your opinion on the Dawk MTC and Ritchies use of that? From what i know didn’t have a tone control on his bridge pickup.

    • @mgalbu
      @mgalbu  Рік тому +2

      Hi Mats! That's correct, the original MTC was wired to the neck pickup only. I don't know much about it but RB started using it during the 80s if I'm not mistaken. Cheers, M.

    • @matsandersson8857
      @matsandersson8857 Рік тому +2

      @@mgalbu I guess you never tried one. I doubt it was that important. Some say it more like a treble bleed some like a quasi wah. Maybe he used it to get a more single coil Strat like tone when he started using other pickups like the Schecter FT500.

    • @2500BC
      @2500BC Рік тому +1

      @@matsandersson8857 it evolved. Dawk knew about and installed the Bill Lawrence q filter. He made an indictor using a sewing machine bobbin and tuned the “q” (his words) to Ritchie’s pickup (different for different pickups). It eventually included a treble bleed/lcr. The inductor was not obvious it just provides a velvety sound. He made several for me and i left them in those guitars.

    Is it impossible to make really a compact version of it? Like MXR 90 with just one speed knob and that CTR sound already inside of it? I'd like to buy one. All the other knobs are useless when the basic phase sound would be that great.

    • @mgalbu
      @mgalbu  Рік тому +2

      This particular phaser is unique in the way it generates the effect by using actual light bulbs and photoresistors. For this reason, it needs enough space to house all the components and dissipate the heat. A real analogue beauty :)

    Excellent playing and demo! The unit sounds amazing! I'd like to purchase one of your TP-1011 preamp pedals. Do you prefer that I deal with you direct or purchase it through Reverb? I have one of your boosters that I like that I bought from you in June 2021 before they had the 9V AC adapter and true bypass.

    • @mgalbu
      @mgalbu  Рік тому

      Thank you! :)
      I prefer directly since Reverb's fees and government taxes got crazy high. You can write to me at mgalbusera285@gmail.com
      You can also send me your booster if you wish and I'll update it with the 9V adaptor and true bypass features. Then ship it back to you along with the TP1011. Let me know, cheers!
